Candle Breath
Regardless of how they paired with Dragons in the past, it seems every class will get some degree of Dragon synergy this expansion. Why would this card exist, otherwise ?
Candle Breath
I like this spell a lot. Rogue hasn’t had a strong drawing tool since Elven Minstrel, I exclude Sprint due to its high Mana-cost. Obviously this card isn’t designed to be played outside of a Rogue deck that at least features a few dragons, preferrably a full Dragon Rogue archetype but I think it could even see play outside of it. Though far from great, paying 6 Mana for 3 cards isn’t extremely overpriced either. This is why I think this card is great : you would only play it in a deck where you have enough Dragons to know that you’ll get to consistently get a powerful draw for very cheap, but even if you end up with a few cards in hand and no dragon, this doesn’t require a dragon to be used and can still help you refill your hand (though obviously at a strong tempo cost). In that regard, it’s pretty flexible. It’ll be much worse without dragons but it doesn’t become an actual dead card without them, just a very slow one, but should you get desperate for draw this fits the bill any day, even with its base Mana cost. And obviously this would be bonkers if we get correct or even strong Dragon Rogue support. I think it probably deserves a 4/5 with some limited degree of support, and an easy 5/5 if we get strong Dragon support. I love it !
Praise Galakrond!
I think this card will see play in at least some of the Galakrond Rogue decks that will see the light of day this expansion, but I’m actually not so sure whether it is good on its own or not.
My instinct tells me it’s pretty bad, but I am trying to face my own bias here, since I am biased against low-value cards that make little difference in a game and virtually take away one option from your hand for very little impact on the board. What I don’t like about it is that I don’t see what good Rogue can do with a +1 Attack effect, so I virtually see this card as only a Lackey generator, and not much more. Warrior has a very similar card, but I feel like this one is worse since it isn’t as flexible. I don’t like it a lot because of how little impact it has on board, and I never was a sucker for very cheap, low-effect cards like this one, but I think it will make the cut anyway. There are a number of ways in which Rogue can use cheap spells, the most obvious being Miracle (though it’s an archetype I am not very fond of), but not the only way either. I think we must remember though that it also boosts Galakrond which probably makes it better than its analogous Warrior spell overall. I initially felt like giving it 2/5, but I think it is closer to 3/5 in reality, since Lackeys are good anyway, and Rogue can make great use out of them. The fact it generates a Lackey and boosts Galakrond in the background probably make up for its low impact as a cheap card, while keeping the obvious advantage of low Mana-cost cards that Rogue can abuse in many ways. So, yeah. Guess that’s a 3/5 for this. Not great, but not bad.

This card doesn’t look so bad, but it doesn’t look so good, either. I’m not unhappy about it because I don’t want broken Invoke cards all over the place either, if all Invoke cards were strong the archetype would become unbalanced very quickly. I think that though this is probably one of the more modest Invoke cards in terms or power here, I think it’ll still find room very nicely in Galakrond Rogue decks. It’s true that it’s on the slower side, but it’s far from being so bad either. 3-mana for a better Backstab and a Lackey isn’t cheap, but it’s not overwhelmingly expensive either. I think to rate this card properly, we need to remember that it’ll be part of a larger pool of Invoke cards, and though I think it will be run mainly for the Invoke effect, I believe it’s fine the way it is. We need a number of Invoke cards for Galakrond Rogue to work, and we also need cards that have a lower level of power so it’s not broken either. Within the Galakrond Rogue archetype, I think it deserves an honest 3/5. It will obviously not see play outside of a Galakrond deck but this goes with all Invoke cards anyway, so it’s all good.

I like that Galakrond Rogue is already getting support, but I’m going to start with the negative here (since the good points are more obvious). The main problem I find with this card is that it’s basically a dead one in case we don’t get too many Invoke cards. Galakrond is a card that you know you won’t always be able to get to its full potential, so it’s okay if you can’t Invoke four times before you play it, but this card heavily relies on Invoke to make it playable, and ideally you want to play her as early as you can. On the other hand, the reward is well worth it. Three coins have a lot of potential, and though I can’t think right now of strong Combo cards that Rogue might use with these, I’m pretty sure Rogue can find a lot of utility in these Coins. Even if you do not run cards that benefit from having Coins, you could just play the three of them and consider that this card is virtually a 3/3 for 1 Mana after you’ve Invoked twice. Doesn’t sound so bad, and yet it’s the worst case scenario here. The only thing I mildly dislike about getting three coins is that it takes a lot of space in the hand, but it probably isn’t going to be much of an issue since anyway you can just use them right away, and if you have too many cards in hand you can just wait before you play her.
I like this card’s art, I like having a new Coin-generating Rogue card in Standard (it’s been a while), and I like the potential it opens up. After all, that technically opens a lot of possibilities with 13-mana turns shenanigans. Coins are just good cards. The only true downside of this card is that it relies on Invoke, and if you draw it early in the game and your opponent runs a fast deck that just might be that dead card in your hand that makes you lose the game. Apart from that, it’s great, really. I’m going to give it 4/5 stars just to be modest, because I think this could easily turn out to be a 5/5 if we have enough Invoke support.
Waxadred
Little old me back at making very complex reviews for all my dear Rogue colleagues.
I like the idea behind the card a lot. A candle dragon actually sounds pretty amazing. Gameplay-wise, I’m not so sure about the effect. It does have more strong points than weak points ; it costs only 5-mana and therefore avoids falling into the high mana cost category that Rogue is better off avoiding due to their playstyle, it has a very good attack stat though it is quite frail, it’s a dragon, and it has a Deathrattle that basically lets you abuse it for free after you’ve played it once, but it’s draw-based and therefore relies on luck to at least some degree.
Whether this could work or not will depend a lot on its support, but it looks pretty good on its own. It’s just… in a weird spot, I’d say. So far we cannot tell yet if Rogue is going to have significant Dragon support. If Rogue does get good dragon synergy, or at least some degree of it, the dragon tag on this beauty might support Rogue’s Dragon-related cards, but the card wasn’t designed to support that a lot either, since most of its value is provided out of the hand and therefore will only trigger hand-related synergies (given the fact that most Dragon synergies seem to work that way) before it is put into play. Overall its effect doesn’t seem to be a strong support for a hypothetical Dragon Rogue, but the Dragon tag could be a nice bonus if Rogue does get interesting Dragon synergies.
I do think the card has its perks without them, but I think Waxadred truly shines with Deathrattle support. It seems obvious but so far, despite having good tools, this archetype hasn’t seen a lot of success since it lacked enough good Deathrattle minions to support it. This might be another piece that would fit nicely into that puzzle. Even though I wouldn’t count on a Necrium Vial combo since 4-Health isn’t designed to survive a full turn, Necrium Blade comes to mind to double the consistency of drawing Waxadred’s Candle, and that’s only to mention one (the best, but still) of the potential Deathrattle synergies Rogue could use with this.
Overall, I’m not so sure about its performance since despite being a Dragon, it does not seem to heavily support a Dragon-based deck, and Rogue doesn’t seem like it will be the class that will get the most out of those synergies anyway in this expansion. Therefore, I think this dragon will be more relevant to a Deathrattle deck, or even a Shuffle one maybe, rather than a Dragon one.
We can still hope that maybe we will get a stronger Dragon synergy that’s going to make this even better, but I wouldn’t count too much on it.
I give it 4/5 so far, the effect is interesting and threatening for the opponent, and the card has a lot of perks with a few weaknesses except being slow, but its strongest flaw is that it is luck-based. If we get cards that directly support this however, Waxadred might become an important piece of a Deathrattle or Dragon Rogue, who knows ?
PS – also it works well with Gral, thought I’d point that out. Rogue has few big minions, and this is a rather big one, plus the fact that Gral has some degree of synergy with Deathrattle, Gral could get a little better if a Deathrattle deck that has more big minions makes it through the meta this expansion.
I feel like giving it 4/5, strong potential but few obvious synergies at the moment.
Might become 5/5 if it supports a viable archetype or gets other cards that make it more consistent, or derive great advantage from its Dragon tag.
Time will tell. Regardless of how viable it will be, I love how it looks.

Allow me to answer you.
Supreme Archaelogy :
+ Indeed, that’s what the Quest is about – but it also provides a steady and damage-free source of Draw. It should be mentioned, since this Quest will most of the time take impact into the mid to late game.
+ Yes, but not only. It also has the potential to be a fiery combo activator. I don’t know what yet, but for sure, being able to reduce a card’s cost to 0 would make some insane combos possible. The only problem being : you don’t know what you draw.
+ The more the game goes on, the harder it will become for your opponent to find answers to your superior draw and plays, since you comparatively have more mana to spend and more draw available.
+ With Plot Twist, that you can increase the odds of drawing thanks to many Warlock tools, you could complete that Quest more easily than you seem to think.
+ Plot Twist Warlock is already a thing, though it lacks power, this Quest could make the difference.
– Perhaps, but there are other, alternative ways to draw that you seem to overlook because of their absence in the current meta. Cult Master comes to my mind, if combined with Rafaam’s Scheme can provide a LOT of draw. Now, would you want to play Rafaam’s Scheme in the first place ? I’m not sure. But what I do know, there are somewhat risky but powerful ways to draw out there. And let’s not forget Questing Explorer.
– I wouldn’t say that most decks in the meta are aggro right now. Actually, isn’t it closer to the opposite of that ?

In any given set, it is no news that Legendaries have different power levels.
Uldum Quests make no exception. It is, however, hard to really understand the potential of the Warlock Quest. Because it does have potential, I’d even say, a significant one. The Hero Power could be bonkers with some cards. I do agree, on the surface, this Quest seems more powerful and easier to complete than Supreme Archaelogy, however, I wouldn’t be too quick to say that the Warlock Quest won’t make the cut in the meta.
Pharaoh Cat
This card is great. Rogue hasn’t had a good 1-drop for a long time, and this fits the bill nicely for me. As a T1, being 1/2 instead of 1/1 is actually significant in some matchups. The Battlecry comes at a virtually free price, since the stats of the card are on par with its Mana cost, not counting the effect. So far, it does not seem like Rogue is going to have a particular synergy with Reborn minions, which is a shame, but the flexibility, stats, and cost of this card make it a very good one regardless. This card serves multiple purposes ; early-game minion, value generator, and potential combo-activator. Though the value it generates seems to have little support for now, it is as a whole an excellent 1-drop. I’ll give it 5/5, though it is not a game changer it is about as good as a 1-drop could get.
Pharaoh Cat
I wouldn’t compare those two, since HCB discovers, a spell, a class one, and is a pirate. In all fairness, they actually have few common points. Most Reborn minions so far are neutral, everyone should keep that in mind. I’m not sure this is a reliable Burgle tool (it’s a good card, of course, though !).
Pharaoh Cat
Rogue has never had any issues with value for a long time (mostly Burgle archetype) but mana cost and tempo were always a problem. With this one, it’s basically free value. I really like it.
Pharaoh Cat
I agree Pally is not getting a lot of Reborn but I think it’s intentional, because they think the Quest is already powerful ? But I agree. Were the roles swapped, I would be unhappy to see that all the good synergies for my Quest are given to other classes. Sorry Pallies.
Pharaoh Cat
Yay ! Finally some Rogue love. Recently, apart from cool legendaries (Tess, Hooktusk, Memebaron Togwaggle) we haven’t gotten so many good cards. This both looks cool, is cool, and is pretty good. Thank you devs. (I just wish Rogue had more Reborn synergies, something on par with Paladin)
Pharaoh Cat
You’re so right (*cough cough* Bazaar Mugger *cough cough* Necrium Vial *cough cough* Play Dead cost 1 when it was standard)
Shadow of Death
I still don’t get the joke, except if it’s only about pointing out the irony in the burgle mechanic
Mortuary Machine
I would find potential in the opposite idea – an understatted, expensive card that would give one or multiple of your minions Reborn. But this way around ? Ehhh… It’s awkward and rather dangerous for yourself. I wouldn’t consider this for most decks. 2/5 is my guestimate for now
I can’t see the connection you’re trying to make here with the viability of this card.
