Grand Empress Shek'zara
It’s not awful. But I don’t like it.
The effect is rather unoriginal, and you can’t really base your deck around it or anything. I do like draw as a Rogue but I don’t like a full legendary to be only about it, because it’s not a very fun effect.
What I do like about it is that it is 6 mana and therefore is good on curve because Rogue has no other 6 mana minion. If it was yet another 3 mana minion, Rogue would have a lot of competition for this. At 6 mana it at least has its own room in the mana curve.
Besides that, I can’t see any application for now, and more importantly I don’t see any real meme potential with this. Just yet, that is. 3/5
Tent Trasher
It’s actually not that bad especially if the Menagerie thing takes off. Either way, no matter what its eventual competitive performance is, I like it because I like dragons (Molten Breath is a rather good spell) and I like Rush (playmaker). It has some degree of synergy with the two legendaries at once, and even a 5/5 Rush for 5, while clearly subpar isn’t THAT bad, and won’t put you behind in the game. I give it 3/5 at minimum and could be a 4/5 if Menagerie works.
Rigged Faire Game
I forgot to mention that with Frost Nova, Mage can pretty much get an easy trigger for this against
half of the classes (Warlock, Paladin, Priest, Shaman, Warrior) since they don’t have a constant ping option.
Ringmaster's Baton
I have tried to make the Quest work multiple times but it just wouldn’t. The simple reason being that the best way a weapon oriented deck works is aggro, and the quest isn’t aggro oriented at all because you get it too late in the game. That being said, a 2 mana weapon with 3 durability is outright excellent for the quest, so it might still make it better.
Balloon Merchant
Ah yes the cancer archetype from way back during K&C / The Witchwood is back for everyone to hate. GREAT! Please don’t print any more silver hand support than this Blizzard. I hate paladins enough as is. 5/5
Rigged Faire Game
This is looking reaaaallyyy good. Useless against Aggro, but can be deceptively strong in slower matchups, I’d say. Your opponent can’t necessarily afford to attack or ping you every turn forever to prevent this from triggering. It’s not flawless, but it’s pretty good and mana efficient. I give it 4/5, minimum 3/5 and I believe it has good chances to see play. Though more consistent Arcane Intellect likely cries in a corner right now.
Darkmoon Faire Card Review #2 - Maxima Blastenheimer, Hammer of the Naaru, Il'gynoth, Ring Toss, Petting Zoo, Revenant Rascal, Ticket Master, The Nameless One and more!
I have nothing in particular to say, but I just realized not many people comment on these and neither do I, although I do read them. So yeah, just wanted to say I do read all of your reviews Stonekeep! And enjoy them.
Ringmaster's Baton
At 2 mana it’s unexpensive, not a bad card, but not a great one either unless Warrior gets even further menagerie support
Ringmaster Whatley
Not sure why this is Warrior specifically, and the other Warrior legendary is REALLY disappointing, but this isn’t looking so bad. 4/5 if there’s a Mech that warrior actually wants to run
E.T.C., God of Metal
I don’t get this. For once Blizzard I can say I really am disappointed. Rush synergy was a yes, face damage is a no. I wish this gave armor instead, and more than 2.
Hammer of the Naaru
I don’t see how the flavor relates in any way to the Darkmoon Faire
Stiltstepper
Lovely art and a cool effect. Of course, it’s Demon Hunter so it IS going to be face oriented, but I can respect that – that’s literally the point of the class. The body is quite bad, but it is agressively stated, and does require a ping to go down so that’s not irrelevant for a 3 mana that both draws a card and has potentail to give you Heroic Strike with it.
Ticket Master
I’ll admit, I’m not extremely excited about this card.
This is pretty much a reprint of the Spider generating one from K&C, and while it was a staple in almost all Rogue decks, I don’t think it’s a very interesting effect (though undeniably strong).
On the plus side we now have Stowaway to consistently draw those Tickets.
It’s a pretty good card, I’m just not super excited to see that mechanic make a comeback. At least, in a way it is an indirect buff to Waxadred because you’re going to want to run Stowaway with this, which is also an excellent support to Waxadred, but you wouldn’t run Stowaway solely for Waxadred.
I think this will see play. Kinda too bad that it’s 3 mana and not 4. Rogue has enough 3 mana options as is.
Ring Toss
Most Mage secrets are good. Counterspell is good, Flameward is great, Mirror Entity is great in non aggro matchups (you wouldn’t get to play this in an aggro matchup anyway), Netherwind Portal is a great card that’s been played in nearly every Mage deck, and you never mind the extra armor from Ice Barrier. That only leaves Spellbender and Vaporize as rather poor options. Furthermore Mage secrets are the most powerful of all secrets overall, being 3 mana. So, no, Mage secrets aren’t bad. Most are decent, especially if you get two that you discover and cast for 4 mana.
Ring Toss
But does it cast both? I would assume it does. If that’s the case, the Corrupt version of this card is quite insane. Playing two random Mage Secrets for 4 wouldn’t be a bad card, but DISCOVERING two is a really good bargain on the other hand. 4 stars, I believe, especially if Mage gets an above average Secret to come with it
Cool art. Strong power level. Low fun. 5/5 a great card but it’s going to make Secret mages annoying again
