Piloted Reaper
Dang, yo. Only problem here is that Keleseth decks will err against it (getting one drops ain’t so hot.) Genn decks, magnetic decks, Deathrattle decks, token decks, so many things would love to run this.
Spark Engine
This could’ve costed 1, and it’d still be preferable to play Firefly.
🙁
Topsy Turvy
Don’t sleep on this card: it can’t be Geisted, can provide various zany tempo plays that Inner Fire can’t, and makes it easier to proc Lyra (not that’d you play it on her, of course).
Prismatic Lens
Clever idea for a card, and very worthy of experimenting. Call to Arms and Dinosize, along with Arcane Tyrant (you’ll have to play a few pricey spells anyway) and Happy Ghoul (best minion to make pricey)?
Galvanizer
Now Pogo Rogue can Pogo-Hopper+Lab Tech on turn 3, rather than waiting til turn 4! Shhh it’ll be viable just trust me
The closest comparison we have is Fire Plume Harbinger. That one extra health can really make the difference in playability compared to Fire Plume, and magnetic is a better system to interact with discounts than the elemental synergy (1 mana discount on elementals was meh because you were planning on curving out your elementals anyway). I think it’ll be viable.
Omega Mind
I just kinda feel like there’s gonna be so many combo decks this expansion, that lategame healing will be kinda worthless. Maybe I’m wrong though.
Meteorologist
It’s a usually-weaker Avenging Wrath with a body. If you’re tinkering with minion mage, it’ll be nice to have some reach so you can cut Fireball with peace of mind. Is it viable though? Ehhhh..
Myra Rotspring
Not the worst card you could play, but doesn’t fit into any particular Rogue gameplan. It doesn’t even slot into a theoretical Deathrattle rogue: with no Deathrattle itself, it doesn’t synergize with Kobold Illusionist, Roll the Bones, or the Spellstone.
Zerek, Master Cloner
A more situational Cairne Bloodhoof. I suspect Priest will have better things to do than try to make this work, but then again he’s due for some nice new buff spells (sorry, Mysterious Elixir) so maybe there will be support.
Shooting Star
If Stargazer Luna-powered miracle mage is a thing, this would slot into it. Otherwise it’s just a disappointing option to show up in Primordial Glyph.
Shrink Ray
I would rather play Equality or Tarim, honestly. You can almost always trade into the baddies, making the attack drop this gives irrelevant.
If the opponent has a full board, you can lock them down with this card. That’s all I can think of.
Academic Espionage
Bonkers! The question almost isn’t “is it good”, but “how do you maximally exploit it?” Stuff your deck with cycle cards so you can get your discount cards nice and fast? Then drop Tess Greymane to hopefully make a checkmate? Or just follow this up with Myra’s Unstable Element and have the swingiest, randomiest swing turn ever?
“Discover" - An Ode to the Best Mechanic in the Game
It also helps matchups from feeling too stale, since it gives you a variety of cards to play (and play against!) that weren’t otherwise in your deck… but in a much more reliable and satisfying way than “add a random ___ to your hand” sorts of effects.
Also handy for the new player experience, who don’t have a big card pool to play around with otherwise. How many budget Paladin decks included Stonehill Defender, knowing it was practically as good as having a Tirion or Tarim?
Blightnozzle Crawler
My vibe is that this will be too easy to “disarm” to be worth playing, but it’s a little hard to gauge these sort of effects until you actually play the card. Also note that for one more mana you could play good ol Vilespline, which is much more fast and consistent as removal.
Demonic Project
This is either going to be a bonkers card that wins on the spot versus combo decks (Maly Druid and Shudderwock Shaman don’t look like they’re goin anywhere) orrrr Rebuke 2.0, where it turns out playing guessing games with what’s in your opponents hand turns out to be just a bit too RNG to bother. Fun card for sure, though.
Astromancer
Hand mage, eh? It has some support with Book of Spectres and Aluneth and whatnot. Aluneth is particularly juicy here, since it can be played the turn right before you play this one.
Omega Medic
If you’re against aggro then you want that healing long before turn 10. If you’re playing a long game, your main threat is OTK combos and unanswerable boards moreso than losing a war of attrition, where 10 health would make the difference. Not the worst card imaginable, but probably won’t make the cut in constructed.
Cloning Device
If Chameleos, Devour Mind, et al aren’t playable, I don’t see why this would be any different. The deck slot usually winds up being better served with one of your own minions, rather than spending 2 mana grabbing something that will only maybe be good and almost certainly won’t synergize with your deck.
Fun way for new players to yoink random legendaries to try out, though..
You can do cool things if you have a “when this minion takes damage…” card out. Or, obviously, if your board is empty this is stronger than vanilla. But not as strong as it oughtta be. Even a 7/6 would have made this compelling.
