Mecha'Thun Warlock - Rise Of Shadows Pre-Release Event (Kripparrian)
Alright ya got me- what’s the combo?
I thought it’d be Galvanizer + Grim Rally, but Galvanizer’s not here.
Safeguard
One mana more than Sludge Belcher for basically +3 health’s worth of Wall (the attack stat comes out in the wash).
I’m having a hard time reconciling the fact that it seems so close to Sludge Belcher and Rotten Applebaum alike- and the former was so good and the latter was so middling.
So I’ll say “playable, but very good if you can put a Zilliax onto it (or its token).”
Midrange Mech Paladin Theorycraft Deck List – Rise of Shadows - April 2019
I dig the gist of it. Mechano-Egg is a really scary card that was just barely eked out by the Year of the Raven’s power level. We’ll have to see if tokens and Kangor’s are incompatible, is my concern with this particular build.
Thoughts on Crystology instead of the Loot Hoarder/Call to Adventure?
Whirlwind Tempest
It looked meh at first, but it has potential in Shaman. Al’akir and Walking Fountain are entirely possible to stick to the board, then this + Rockbiter for nearly 30 damage. Or stick a big random minion and use the Windfury spell + this. It creates a big burst finisher using minions that Control Decks and Big Decks probably want to run regardless.
Azerite Elemental
Mage can cheat this out with Elemental Evocation – it’s a lot harder to answer T3. Or T1 if you have a miracle mulligan :p
It’ll be tricky to balance a deck where you can really exploit the effect, though.
Burly Shovelfist
We’ve seen a lot of cards that summon big minions, but not a lot of Compelling big minions themselves. Well, this is one, for whatever it’s worth.
Yeah yeah, it smells like pack filler, but there might actually be a home for this. Eureka? Akali? Something like that.
Hunting Party
You’re gonna want to have 3 good beasts in your hand to make this work. You can get there with Masters Call but … you’re a hunter, shouldn’t you be playing more proactively?
You can use this INSTEAD of Master’s Call, but that’s a – -Tempo + +Value play, and Rexxar shouldn’t expect to win Value matchups anymore without his Death Knight.
Mysterious Blade
Pushing 6 damage for 2 mana is exactly what an aggressive secret pally will love to do. Easy to weave into any turn as well, you don’t need it T2.
Soul of the Murloc
This is exactly what Token Shaman needed, you folks have no idea. Token Druid gave us the proof of concept with Soul of the Forest- it’s hard to clear both a wide board and their Deathrattle’d tokens in one turn. Especially with Defile and Psychic Scream rotating.
This is cheaper than Soul of the Forest, so way easier to set up. And Shaman has SO MANY ways to punish you if the Murlocs stick. Storm Bringer. Bloodlust (with or without Electra). Zentimo + Windfury/Rockbiter. Hell, Ol’ Murk-eye is a Classic card.
I’m a biased token Shaman player but for real this card looks like juicy, juicy stuff.
Eccentric Scribe
Violet Wurm was never quite able to find a home except in arena, and this card seems kinda worse overall. I like this sorta effect and think it will find a combo/meta it’ll rock in, but not sure this is the card.
Faceless Rager
A legit compelling option for Silence Priest and any deck running Twilight Drake or Witchwood Grizzly
Flight Master
I actually think this has tech potential? There are a lot of cards that benefit from trading, which become unusable when you’re in a control/combo matchup where your opponent doesn’t develop a board. Scavenging Hyena, Spirit of the Bat, Gonk Druid card’s, Overkill, etc etc. Plus it messes with your opponent’s res pool.
Sweeping Strikes
Yeah this is hella dangerous, any Rush or Overkill Minion will raise a lot of hell with this.
Underbelly Ooze
You can make it work with Warpath or Improve Morale or that Warrior Weapon that damages things when you play em. But the payoff seems weak- Aggro/Midrange will be threatening lethal and Control will have answers for this that late in the game.
Tunnel Blaster
A pretty nasty replacement for Primordial Drake. Your opponent gets to dictate the trades but it’ll still ruin their board in most cases.
Vicious Scraphound
Eternium Rover just seems better unless you specifically wait until T7 to magnetize Zilliax onto it.
Witch's Brew
Too dignified to repeat the Echo keyword, haha.
Anyway, great healing spell now that Healing Rain is out. A surefire add for Control Shaman and downright mean when they pull it from Hagatha.
Would love to see a guide on this archetype. It seems like it’d be good, and we’ve seen several legend climbs with it, but the HSReplay stats have it at 45% wr. Is that a matchup problem, or a pilot problem?
