Strong taunt that also gives value and also has a useful tag? That’s awesome.
Deathwing, Mad Aspect
Why in any scenario would you want to recruit this? It’s a 12/12 for 8 that attacks all enemy minions, naturally you’re going to want to play this from your hand. Even summoning this with Boomship is bad compared to playing it from your hand.
Also… You don’t need to build a deck like Big Warrior around this, almost every warrior deck that isn’t aggro will want to play this. It’s too great of value to not include it in most decks.
Deathwing, Mad Aspect
It also affects only the enemy board, doesn’t overload you and might leave you with a 12/0-12 minion on board depending on how much it clears. It’s way better than volcano.
Deathwing, Mad Aspect
It will keep attacking until it dies so it kills two in this case. With 10 mana you can do commanding shout and play Deathwing to clear anything under 13 health though.
There’s a huge amount of possible boards it can clear. The only thing that hard counters it is freeze trap and poisonous minions.
Deathwing, Mad Aspect
It’s really hard to make up any excuse as to why this card wouldn’t be 5/5. Warrior has absolutely no problem getting into turn 8 right now and it also has some of the best dragon synergies in the game atm. The only thing that can render this card useless is stuff like freeze trap and poisonous minions which aren’t very common things and are mostly locked behind two classes.
Against aggro decks this is almost like a better twisting nether. Against mid-range decks it can clear 2-5 minions and against control it’s a big threat that can’t really be dealt with damage spells. With 10 mana this comboes nicely with commanding shout to kill everything under 13 health.
It’s not meta defining by any means but there’s no real reason not to include this in most Warrior decks. Heck imagine copying this with War master Voone and playing them on turn 8 and 9, there is very little the opponent can do to keep up. There’s also the Boomship and what not. 5/5 IMO. I can’t think of anything that suggests otherwise.
Waxadred
It might not stand out in a deck by itself but it’s a 5 mana 7/5 that comes back for free later in the game. Those stats are pretty scary for something like this (compare it to something like Sherazin, Corpse flower. The only problem is that the class this is on is Rogue which struggles to play stuff like this. I could still see this being played in some mid-range deck though. Anka, The buried also has an interesting synergy with this.
As a side note I can totally see this being a fun meme deck with Shadow of Death and the ridiculous card drawing Rogue has now.
So overall a fun card, maybe not what rogue needs but eh it’s not the worst at least. 3.5/
Sand Breath
Dragon paladin as we know it atm doesn’t really want to run small effect cards like this.. That being said this is pretty disappointing. Perharps they’ll change it a bit but seeing what Nozdormu is like, that probably won’t be the case. 1.5/5
Corrosive Breath
If Hunter gets lots of “small dragons” and synergies with it I can see this being a boring but quite strong card. If you have a dragon this is a frostbolt to a minion and face without freeze and that’s pretty good for a class like Hunter.
Molten Breath
I would appreciate it if Blizzard made Warrior good at either only single target removal or only removal of several minions.. Not both. This card isn’t all that good of course but Warrior should have less answers to certain things. If it doesn’t kill, the armor eats up one attack from a big minion. 3/5.
Dragon's Hoard
One of the cards I wished for the most from this set is a 1 mana spell that adds a card from another class. Random legendaries aren’t that good but there is always the potential to get something good especially since this is a discover effect and the only card to compare this in standard is something as bad as Pilfer. That being said this card fills that role wonderfully and it’s a welcome addition to Quest Rogue.
Ysera, Unleashed
I love this card. It’s not busted or anything but the sheer value you get from it can’t be denied. If the meta is even a little bit slow, this might just be very powerful. Especially since Blizzard seems to be granting druid some of its ramp back. I’m gonna give this a hopeful 4/5.
Umbral Skulker
Edwin will love this, if you save the 3 coins you can use all of your mana for whatever cards you play and then just play these 3 coins to play Edwin. That and other rogue shenanigans. But we’ll see just how well Rogue manages the whole invoke thing, things like shadowstep should not be underestimated with the mechanic after all. It might be too weak or strong as heck, will have to see.
Unseal the Vault
I think people somewhat underestimate this quest, we’ll see where it goes but if you make it to lategame with Hunter (which you pretty much can by playing tempo) this is scary good and definitely underestimated. Not saying it’s the best but c’mon are you really giving a pseudo 2 mana bloodlust hero power 1 star rating for the class with the most rushes and charges in the game?! Doesn’t seem right.
Bazaar Burglary
I think you underrestimate its completion condition, it’s not easy to complete this by turn 5, not even on turn 6. That’s very late for class like Rogue. You’re gonna need way more burgle tools if you want to complete this by turn 6-7 in the least. I assume we get more of them so hard to say now but with the tools we have now (Bazaar mugger lol…) it’s not looking too good.
Bazaar Burglary
Oddly anticlimatic.. 😀 I just don’t really think the weapons quite make the cut though, especially if reborn minions become a thing which they certainly will. This is an insanely good control tool and aggro card in same package but you’re gonna have to hope you complete this by turn 5 which would mean playing a burgle card each turn which is.. not easy. They have to be class cards so things like Pharaoh’s cat and violet haze which would help alot may also do nothing for you, if instead of the crappy Bazaar mugger we got a 4-drop “add two class cards in your hand” it would do great for this quest. Completing this later than turn 5 is really late for an effect like this for Rogue. You’ve lost so much tempo that it’s very hard to get back in game. Rogue lives and dies by tempo and this card makes you lose against every aggro deck and it’s hardly enough to make you win control matchups either.
It’s a really strong card but I’m gonna be honest, it’s not 5/5. I’ll give it a generous 3.5 as sad as it is.
Activate the Obelisk
@Smegus Are you telling me that with all the wonderful support this quest has this isn’t a 5/5 card? I don’t even play Priest in fact I have dusted every single priest card and hated the class ever since that Barnes deck. But the fact that this card is approacheable from several priest deck archetypes (heal, buffs, resurrection, big priest) alone means that it’d be a miracle if this doesn’t become one of the stronger decks.
I generally like strong, flexible and unique cards that open lots of possibilities and those cards tend to be the best. That’s why I rate cards like this high.
Activate the Obelisk
Warlock can almost achieve that with two plot twists alone, it’s almost as easy as healing 15 on Priest. The better question is why does Paladin have to play 5 reborn minions without getting any actually good class ones? xD
Activate the Obelisk
Well yeah but when you look at all the cards that synergize with this (reborn and high health minions) this archetype has tons of resources. Not only that but the fact that the new legendary minion perfectly synergizes with this is really good. And what stops you from running ressurrection with this deck since it has lots of value with reborn minions? My guess is that this deck won’t be strong at first but then people find that perfect balance of everything and this makes it into tier 1 at least tier 2.
Activate the Obelisk
Now this is what I really like Priest doing. Surviving till lategame and outresourcing opponents. Clear 5/5. I was wondering when Prist will focus more on healing and buffing and it seems to be right now.
I was expecting a resurrection quest but this is really nice too, it makes sense to run reborn minions cause priest can heal them back up and that’s probably what you want to do, trade with a reborn minion, have it die and be reborn and then heal it back up. Then you can start healing and buffing them. It’s a shame this doesn’t work on Zerek.
Now let’s just hope that the Rogue quest won’t be a disappointment, they have gone through enough trash by now.
I don’t think this even has to rely on Dragon druid synergy that much. It’s a very solid card by its stats alone and the ability to discover a dragon is big value even without any synergies, it can even discover itself.
