Demon Companion
Wow, not bad at all! This together with the Adorable Infestation card could really help a Zoo Hunter pop off this expansion.
Desk Imp
So they’ve printed a demon version of Wisp now, and they printed Tinyfin before as the murloc version of Wisp. That leaves mech, beast, and pirate to go.
Crimson Hothead
Why is this one rated so low? Sure, it’s not the best card ever, but cmon, a 4/6 with taunt is definitely worthy of at least competing with Bone Wraith or Overconfident Orc. I’ll have to call this a 3.5 stars.
Cutting Class
LMAO just for the name of the card, I wanna give it 5 stars.
Might give a tiny boost to Quest Warrior, but that’s about it sadly. Honestly I think this card should’ve been 3 or 4 mana.
Trueaim Crescent
For Demon Hunter, this card is honestly out of the question. Umberwing does the job of controlling the board early game way too well for this weapon to even be considered. You’d need a 1-drop curving up to Umberwing, like Battlefiend or Battlemage, so this card will most definitely be excluded.
Trueaim Crescent
Honestly, the +1 durability on a 1 attack weapon is kinda overkill. Like, this weapon’s gonna take up your weapon slot for 4 turns unless you decide to waste it and play another weapon.
And the weapon itself feels really inflexible. Every time you attack a minion with this weapon, you risk dashing all your weaker minions to death against a beefier enemy minion.
Wyrm Weaver
The effect comes too little, too late. Two 1/3 bodies are pretty much irrelevant by turn 5 (even assuming that you have a 0 mana spell you can play on turn 5 to instantly trigger the effect). They’d probably get instantly removed before their attack can ramp up. The 3/6 body for 5 mana is pretty worthless, as well.
Lowkey though, I have a feeling this card’s gonna get buffed by Blizzard to 4 mana, just like Necromechanic did.
Totem Goliath
” Just seems like you really hate death rattle cards.”
LMAO, what are you saying? Stop putting words into my mouth that I never said. My point was that SLOW deathrattle cards that have no impact on the board when they are immediately played are weak by the standards of modern-day Hearthstone. By “no impact”, I mean that the deathrattle minions don’t have either taunt or rush. There are plenty of good deathrattle cards, like Convincing Infiltrator, Khartut Defender, Bone Wraith, Coilfang Warlord, Zixor, Scrapyard Colossus, etc.
If you look around at the current pool of cards in Hearthstone, the only deathrattle cards that see play are the ones with taunt or rush. The only exceptions to this rule are deathrattle cards that are cheap and not a high tempo loss, such as Serpent Egg, which when played in the right zoo decks can be triggered the next turn.
“Eccentric Scribe and TOTEM GOLIATH are two completely different cards. This card is 1 mana cheaper gets you 4 different minions not 4 1/1 but a 1/1 and three 0/2 with different effects.”
Woooowwwww, such a big difference. 5 mana with overload 2 is SOOOOOO much more better than 6 mana. And 4 1/1s is SOOOOOOOO much more different than a 1/1 and three 0/2s with different(mostly useless) effects. If you really think that it’s such a big difference, I don’t know what to say to you LOL.
“Also the overload can be utilized in shaman with a variety of different cards you now also have lightning bloom which can cheat out multiple cards. Therefore I think this card is at least 3.5 stars and it will see some play.”
Overload can be utilized? Sure, but the handful of overload-utilizing cards like Vessina and Cumulo Maximus see zero play. I doubt Totem Goliath will single handedly change that.
Anyways, nice talking to you. This discussion isn’t getting anywhere, and I think we’d be better off not replying to each other. Peace!
Boneweb Egg
Yeah, sadly Grim Rally rotated out, so AoE buff effects for warlock are nonexistent.
Ancient Void Hound
Sadly the steal 1 attack and health effect would be kinda irrelevant most of the time. When this gets pulled out by a Pit Commander at the end of your turn the effect won’t activate.
Forest Warden Omu
Actually a pretty strong card. The question is, what kind of deck would want to run this?
So on one hand, you’ve got spell druid. This card might as well be a free 5/4 body that can on occasion even give you EXTRA mana to spend. But spell druid, as the name denotes, is typically very heavy on spells. You just might end up discarding this with a Fungal Fortunes. Plus, spell druid is heavily reliant on the power of Glowfly Swarm. Cutting down on the number of spells in your hand by running this card also cuts down on the number of glowflies you get. All in all, I’d be pretty hesitant to slot this into a Spell Druid build.
You might also consider cheating out another big body on board by running this in Big Druid. But Big Druid is typically not spell-heavy, so the Spellburst effect might be a bit hard to trigger.
Totem Goliath
“The deathrattle is super flashy, but in reality is way too slow. Shaman doesn’t have any deathrattle triggering cards, so you won’t be able to get your 4 basic totem value anytime soon.”
Like I said, this card is way too slow. Look at a similar card called Eccentric Scribe – a strong 6/4 body that summoned 4 1/1 tokens upon death, for 6 mana. How much play does it see? Pretty much none. Why? The 6/4 doesn’t do anything the turn it is summoned, and neither do the 1/1s when they pop out of the 6/4.
This card is pretty similar. It’s a 4/5 body that summons 3 0/2 tokens and 1 1/1 token upon death. It does nothing on the turn you play it, and the 4 totems you get from the deathrattle also do nothing on the turn they pop out. It’s also not gonna see any play, much alike Eccentric Scribe.
So let’s say I play this dude on turn 5. On my opponent’s turn, they have the opportunity to silence or transform this big guy. Then on turn 6, I trade this measly 4 attack minion into something, hoping that it dies so that the totems pop out (if it doesn’t die, then your totem combo is delayed for ANOTHER turn). After the totems pop out, they have no immediate impact on the board. My opponent is free to clear them all with a simple AoE spell. FINALLY, on turn 7 (assuming everything has gone to plan), I can drop some token buffs on my totems like Totemic Might and Totemic Surge and attack. Which is not an impressive play at all by turn 7 – all I get are 3 2 attack totems and 1 3 attack totem.
So as you hopefully can see, Totem Goliath is simply too slow for standard. You need to wait at least 2 turns (and hope your opponent doesn’t counter this card with either a silence or an AoE) before the power of this card is fully realized. Which even then, is quite mediocre.
Also, this is NOT a 5 mana card; it’s a 5 mana card that also cripples your turn 6 with overload.
Professor Slate
Rapid fire isn’t that bad of a card TBH. Its effect of doing 1 damage for 1 mana is just too weak.
Professor Slate completely turns that problem around. I don’t know about you, but having two one-mana Assassinates sounds pretty good to me.
At the very least Highlander Hunter would use this card.
Professor Slate
Since this card doesn’t actually provide a win condition(all it does is help control the board), you don’t actually need to base your entire deck around this card. Instead, you could just run 1 or 2 mediocre cards that will be turned insane by Professor Slate.
Rapid Fire looks pretty decent with this. So does Arcane Shot. I’d say at least Highlander Hunter would give this card a chance.
Lab Partner
Cheap burn spells… for mage? Like what?
I’m pretty sure there’s only Arcane Missiles and Frostbolt right now. I don’t really think that’s enough support to allow a burn Mage to take off.
Lab Partner
Man, at first I thought this was a Neutral card, which would’ve been actually pretty decent with Arcane Watcher.
But Mage? Why, just why… Such a waste of a good card.
I doubt this will see any play in any decks asides from Highlander, unless Mage somehow gets around 2 cheap burn spells this expansion.
Lightning Bloom
Honestly, I doubt this will see play except in some ridiculous combo decks, probably involving Malygos.
Druid doesn’t really need this, because the only burn spell Druid has is Moonfire for 0 mana, so the mana surplus won’t matter at all.
But Shaman has the 1 mana Frost Shock and Lightning Bolt. So on turn 9, Shaman could drop a Malygos, play two copies of this spell, and then pop off with 4 burn spells for a total of 28 damage – not too shabby. The only issue is Shaman would need to sift through its entire deck to find these combo pieces, and survive till the very late game.
Way too plain to see any play.
But man, to be completely honest if they made this 3 mana, I would play this in some kinda zoo deck. But I guess that would power creep Scarlet Crusader way too much.
