Rats of Extraordinary Size
Really, really, reeaaallly interesting card. It’s hard to say for this one. I think I’ll have to go with my gut and call this a 1.5/5.
At a base level with no minions on board, this is just a 6 mana summon 7/7 worth of stats, except that they’re 1/1s so they’re far worse at trading. Total garbage, and not even that great for tempo.
However, adding 1 mana 5/5’s to your hand? Now we’re talking – throwing a couple 5/5s on board is definitely no joke. However, as you add those 1 mana 5/5s to your hand you’re giving up tempo, since you’re summoning less rats. So either ways you do it, this is a 6 mana tempo loss.
Another issue is that in order to get those 1 mana 5/5s into your hand, you’ll need to already have some minions on board to squeeze out the rats that don’t fit. But how will you do it? After you play a token board from last turn your opponent will most likely clear it. Most of the time most of your rats will probably fit on board, meaning you won’t get a lot of the 1 mana 5/5s in hand.
Demonic Assault
Flanking Strike but the minions you summon are far worse at trading. Arguably having one 3/3 is better than having 2 1/3s.
I think Warlock will need the extra damage and protection though, so this will probably see play. Still, this might feel like an underperformer. 3/5 I guess.
The Rat King
Hm, playing a 5/5 rush for 5 mana feels kinda bad. Even if you get to resummon it after a while, I’m on the ropes as to whether that outweighs the bad turn 5 play you’re forced to make.
Overall, the issue with token hunter is that there just isn’t enough support for it – sure, hunter has ways of generating lots of small minions, but hunter can never capitalize on having those small minions. This card is decent support, but we’ll definitely need more than this to make Token Hunter viable. 3/5
Sheldras Moontree
Okay, so the issues with this card are : 1) you can’t control which spells you’re gonna draw and you might end up wasting this with some Lightning Blooms, and 2) this is essentially an 8 mana do nothing.
Issue 1) : technically you could take out all the cheap spells in your deck, but that’s not realistic because there is no way you can cut out stuff like lightning bloom or overgrowth and whatnot.
I’d say you just play this, and hope that out of the next 3 spells you draw you pull out some expensive spells. On average, you might pull out 1 expensive spell or so. Arguably that makes Sheldras worth it, if you get a free survival of the fittest.
On another note this has some synergy with Primordial Protector – imagine primordial drawing a survival and summoning a 10-drop instantly, and sheldras’s effect instantly casting the survival to buff up your board. But that’s extremely greedy and probably won’t work out very well.
Issue 2) : Since Sheldras costs 8, you could potentially corrupt some Strongmen in your hand and then put up some 6/6 taunts for protection. But then you’ll basically have to hold the strongmen as dead cards in your hand until you play Sheldras.
Sheldras Moontree
Well, it does cost 8 mana so you could corrupt some Strongmen with it. Best case scenario, this is an 8 mana 5/5 and 2 6/6 taunts. But that’s pretty idealistic.
Kodo Mount
this might fit into taunt aggro druid as a damage dealer, but I also wonder if you’d rather just play some more minions for 4 mana instead of using this spell.
Kodo Mount
Well okay, this card definitely packs a punch, but it’s a little on the clunky side if you ask me. I’m 75% sure this will find a deck somewhere to slot into though.
The “give a minion rush” part is kinda irrelevant, because you’d need to pay up the cost for a minion and then pay an extra 4 for this spell, which would feel pretty clunky. So the only real application of this card is to play onto a minion you played before, meaning the rush is wasted.
Still, a +4 attack onto a minion really isn’t bad. That’s a full on eviscerate to the face, plus summoning a 4/2 on deathrattle.
I think
Touch of the Nathrezim
This is definitely gonna see play. Warlock desperately needs healing at the moment, and this seems reasonable enough – take out a small enemy minion, and then heal 4.
It’s reasonable, but not insane. I’ll call this 4 stars.

But Celestial Alignment sets you back to 1 mana, and C’thun will cost 10 mana after you play all the C’thun pieces. So your game finisher would be delayed a full 9 turns at least.

How tf will that evolve shaman deck work lol. You only get two weapons and 4 evolve charges from your weapons, and the evolve targets aren’t even that good. Plus you’re using 4 weapon tutoring cards(cagematch custodian and selfless sidekick) but only have two weapons.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I think evolve shaman is dead as long as Hoard Pillager is rotated.
Against All Odds
This is 5 mana, kill approximately half of your opponent’s minions(and your own minions if you have any, but since this is priest you’re probably not gonna have any minions on board). And sometimes it could flop hard if none of your opponent’s minions have an odd attack.
Sure, you could pair it with Wave of Apathy but you’d need both of those cards in your hand at the same time, and even then it’s a 2-card 6-mana combo to clear a board. But who knows, that might be a thing if Priest is really that desperate for board clears this expansion(probably not gonna happen, since we already have hysteria).
I think this will see just about as much play as Shadow Word Ruin did. The card is way too niche and requires way too many things to go exactly right for it to work out.
Against All Odds
True, but that’s a 2 card, 6 mana combo. It’s definitely less than ideal. Overall, this card’s viability depends on how desperate Priest is for board clears, because I think overall Hysteria works better than this card.
Whetstone Hatchet
Okay, I see a tempo warrior archetype coming to the fray… but the question is, would you rather play this on turn 1, or just play a decent 1-drop on turn 1 instead?
This will probably see play, but it still feels kinda underwhelming, especially if you don’t draw this on turn 1.
Apothecary's Caravan
Ah man, why does it have to be at the START of your turn…
If you coin this out on turn 1(best case scenario for this card), this would pull out a 1 drop from your deck on the start of turn 2. But since that means your 1 drop has been summoned THIS TURN, meaning it still has summoning sickness.
That means you won’t be able to attack with the 1 drop that you summoned until turn 3.
Razorboar
Wow… I actually thought Blizzard would give DH some good deathrattle cards to work with. I guess not.
Tamsin Roame
LOL imagine if warlock randomly generated some minion that increases the cost of their spells so that the 0-mana spells she creates cost 1 instead, so you could chain off 10 of those in a turn.
Neeru Fireblade
Well… it’s been a while since we’ve had a card this interesting.
Essentially the new warlock gameplan is to empty their deck, and then throw threat after threat at their opponent before fatigue inevitably kills them. They can potentially refill their deck with primes with Rustwix too. This is a great card to suit that gameplan… but what’s to stop THIS card from being destroyed(or rustwix)?
All in all this new “self-destruct deck” archetype for warlock honestly does show some promise, and I think it’d at the very least become a legitimate tier 3ish deck. But its inconsistency may be its downfall. Even key cards like Neeru, Rustwix and that 3/3 that deals 6 damage can easily be discarded and weaken your game plan.
Invigorating Sermon
Oh my god this card is absolute dogshit, like seriously.
It’s literally the Keleseth effect… but 2 turns too late and 2 mana too expensive, and minus the 2/2 body. Are you kidding me? Hell no I’ll take a hard pass on this card.
Maybe if they made the buff +2/+2 or something I’d consider though.
Interesting card – you get resource generation AND the instant deathrattle trigger all in one.
But I’m not sure how many good deathrattles you could discover as priest. Here’s a list of the good deathrattles you could get off this card : shadowed spirit, lightshower elemental, rustsworn inquisitor, nerubian egg, death’s head cultist, devouring ectoplasm, explosive sheep.
But out of those good deathrattles, about half of them pursue a control-oriented playstyle(lightshower, death’s head cultist) while everything else pursues an aggro-oriented playstyle. You’d be very lucky to find just the right deathrattle for your situation.
Now, let’s talk about the bad deathrattles you could get : darkspear berserker, teron gorefiend, rustsworn initiate, sneaky delinquent, fishy flyer, smug senior, scrapyard colossus, plagued protodrake(I included the expensive deathrattles because you would usually not have enough mana to play them and trigger the deathrattle effect).
More than 50% of the deathrattles are bad, and 25% of the remaining deathrattles would not suit your game plan. Therefore, only about 25% of the 3 cards you discover can potentially be useful. 1.5/5
