Rise of Shadows Hearthstone Expansion Guide! Release Date, Card Spoilers, Pre-Purchase Info, New Mechanics And More!
This meta will be vastly different due to how many powerful cards are rotating. And in general, their design philosophy has been that the first expac in a rotation is weaker then the rest of the year’s sets, since it stays in standard for longer.

It probably won’t be dustable (just like how Marin and C’thun aren’t)
Silence Priest - Rise Of Shadows Pre-Release Event (Trump)
Divine Spirit + Inner Fire combos are a lot worse without Shadow Visions. Before Un’goro it was considered a meme combo that never worked. This is (theoretically) a midrange deck that aims to play overstatted fatties with downsides, silence them, and smack face. I do think he’s made some questionable decisions (Sunfury Protector should be good in a deck like this and I don’t like Wild Pyro or Potion Vendor), but leaving Inner Fire out isn’t it.

It literally says “replace your deck with a copy of each.” Nothing about adding it to your hand. And idk, if you’re in fatigue this seems okay, or if you need to burn cards in your deck (like bombs or bloods). I’m cautiously optimistic about this card.

I have golden Baku and do not have 500 wins as Paladin, and baku makes my hero power golden. No other part of the portrait, just the HP.

The V A L U E is insane but who knows. The upside is that now every class has a way to destroy Hakkar’s Corrupted Bloods, which could be very skill-testing in the mirror or invalidate Hakkar altogether. That being said, you could low-roll spectacularly, but I don’t think you would play this card until you have nothing left in your deck. Currently only Warrior and Priest are decks that I could see utilizing this for some sort of grinder deck; Warlock might have better options with Plot Twist or Glinda + Baleful Banker.
Aranasi Broodmother
Antique Healbot is still played in Wild, if it’s a good card in the higher-powered format it would certainly see play in Standard today
Aranasi Broodmother
Dead Man’s Hand Warlock with 2 plot twist, 2 Elekk, and this in hand for infinite resources and theoretically infinite heals. Probably no great but who knows.
Lucentbark
This having Taunt might make it actually playable, but it could also be too slow. Very difficult to evaluate.
Underbelly Fence
I think you just play this in a deck with Blink Fox and Hench Clan Burglar, no Pilfer or other nonsense. Most Rogue decks will still want to dagger up on 2 due to Hench Clan Thug. But as a turn 4 play and on this is still pretty good, it gives immediate board impact, is cheap enough it can activate other combo cards, and the best part is if you get a bad card from one of your Burgle effects, it still goes off.
Archmage Vargoth
By far the best meme with this card is to play it on 9 with the Mage quest reward Time Warp, which will probably give you 2 extra turns. Now in standard there’s not much that will actually do but in Wild it might make the Giants version of the quest a little better.
Call to Adventure
Big Paladin has a way to guarantee Barnes on 4 now, that’s some great meme potential.
Ray of Frost
You don’t need to remove burn spells from Freeze Mage to fit this in Standard. In Wild, sure, you have Frost Bolt and Forgotten Torch but in standard this can fit fine. I’m not talking about Wild implications when I mention freeze mage.
Ray of Frost
Cone of Cold was occasionally used in Freeze Mage and sees play in most Exodia Mage decks in Wild. For standard, however, this card is better in certain situations. It’s cheaper, can freeze a big dumb idiot for 2 turns, and, like I mentioned, can net you 2 fireballs from Antonidas for only one card slot.
Freeze Mage is notorious for not removing the board and only stalling it, eventually winning with burn. Of course, it remains to be seen if the archetype can be competitive without Ice Block, but depending on how slow the meta is in RoS it might be able to make a comeback.
Mana Cyclone
As an avid Miracle Rogue player, I can’t wait for Questing Adventurer Miracle Mage.
Commander Rhyssa
Seems fun in Wild with Avenge and Competitive spirit. Odd Paladin probably wants to run the new secret too. For Standard there’s still Bellringer Sentry, and this curves right into it. Seems okay so far.
Ray of Frost
Dealing 2 damage to a frozen minion is largely irrelevant. But being able to freeze 2 targets for 1 card slot is pretty good for Freeze Mage, and this gives you 2 fireballs from Antonidas, 2 minions from Vex Crow, and draw 2 from Luna (or Auctioneer I guess). Seems decent in a deck that wants to delay minion damage or that takes advantage of spells being cast.
Walking Fountain
Seems like a reasonable replacement for Healing Rain for slower Shaman decks. I can see both control and midrange shaman running this. Also really scary if it sticks. And a reasonable pull from Muckmorpher
A rotating core set would be very punishing to new and ftp players.
