Face Collector
Just my obligatory insight into another Rogue Legendary; don’t mind me. Also, abbreviated Face Collector as FC for most of it because I’m lazy.
If nothing else, this is a guaranteed Quest completion turn 7 with a Shadowstep (T6 2x FC > Shadowstep, T7 3x FC, watching your hand size so as to not Mill Quest). Now, why exactly you’d WANT a Quest completion after getting a hand of Legendaries is beyond me (unless you get a hand of Nat Pagles), but hey! It’s cool 😀
Control Rogue is nowhere near an actual thing, so I’d say no, don’t use this for that, especially when you’re losing Tempo with a 3-mana 2/2. I mean, if Rogue gets a few cool board clears and such then sure, but as it stands… no.
Aggro w/ FC is… interesting… If you run Shadowstep, it can be a refill after dumping your hand; meanwhile, your hand’ll probably be nearing empty by T6 – the focal point of the FC/Shadowstep Combo. So I mean you could just run an extremely aggressive Rogue while hard-mulligan’ing for FC and Shadowstep (kinda like Keleseth O.o)… Wait… Let’s try something…
Tempo Rogue with Keleseth and Face Collector. You hard-mulligan for Keleseth and/or Face Collector, while also trying to find Shadowstep to complement either one. Either you draw Keleseth and win the Tempo War by Shadowstepping him, or you instead draw Face Collector and refill your almost-empty hand by turn 6. Either way, Shadowstep has some use in assuring a victory, and you have a plan B should you fail to draw Keleseth early… Interesting…
And as for other Rogue Archetypes… Just no. At least not Standard ones. Miracle has NO use with FC, Mill, besides having no use for FC, is dead with the rotation of Coldlight, and Kingsbane has basically no use unless you get… Idunno, Cpt Greenskin from it or something.
The Witchwood Guide, Release Date, Card Spoilers List, Monster Hunt
Following the general outline of the past few expansions, there’ll most likely be one Legendary minion for each class as well as a special “new mechanic” themed Legendary (i.e. Quests, Heroes, Weapons). With the conclusion that Hagatha will be the only Hero, I reckon the other classes will also get special cards mirroring those from past expansions. I’d also guess that there won’t be any new special Legendary types, since Shaman would be missing out. So yes, I’d expect a couple Legendary Quests and Weapons 😉

Honestly Rogue’s in a pretty big ditch right now (coming from a Rogue “main”, so most likely biased). In Constructed, Tempo’s basically gone, Quest isn’t as good as it once was (thank god), and Miracle’s basically dead no matter how you look at it. Kingsbane is a cool concept and all, but it’s pretty slow and reliant on good card draw, and Mill’s only decent when abusing the meta, and that’ll go away once the expansion hits with the rotation of Coldlight (sadly or not, according to who you ask). In Wild it ain’t that much better; Mill has a few cool trinkets to play with in N’Zoth plus Naxx Deathrattle-Taunts, and a bit of Jade Rogue with Gang Up won’t hurt, but the others are still just… meh. Even with Miracle gaining Conceal, it’s still too slow and inconsistent against Aggro and gets punished by Cubelock pretty bad, not to mention the amount of Naga-Giants which are only somewhat countered by Vanish (of which they’ll just dump their hand again unless you kill Naga). Compare that to the main meta and it’s pretty obvious Rogue’s struggling.
But Shaman’s in a pretty bad spot too, so guess I’ll root for ya too! 😀
Saying Goodbye to Year of the Kraken’s Cards - Part 1: The Cards We Will Miss
The shadows beckon…
Surprised to see Shadowcaster not on the list, but that’s most likely because I’m biased with Dane being my favorite HS YouTuber. Shadowcaster has a million different implications and uses, ranging from copying a powerful Battlecry effect like N’Zoth for much less mana to starting an infinite chain of 1/1’s with Brann and, later, Valeera the Hollow. I guess most of the uses come in wild so having it rotate out of standard wouldn’t get much attention, but it was (and will still be) fun as heck as probably my most-loved card of the rotation 😀
Genn Greymane
Don’t see how this wouldn’t work with Quests; Reno and the Princes check the CURRENT deck as opposed to the original deck, and Malchezaar’s effect happens AFTER mulligan, so assuming mirrored mechanics, you’d have the card in hand, so when the card checks your deck, it wouldn’t be in there…?
I mean, I guess it’s up to whoever wants to be in charge of that mechanic, but really it wouldn’t make an extremely overpowered deck besides MAYBE Kaleidosaur Pally having a guaranteed minion to play with the spells, one turn later (i.e. Spikeridge Steed t7) or Cataclysm Discolock having more cards earlier and more of a chance to draw into Cataclysm earlier…? They’d still need the rest of their deck restricted to the quest as well as the mana cost anyways, so it’d be pretty difficult to make a meta-breaking Quest deck utilizing this card… Idunno, maybe they’ll release a broken quest-hero power synergy card which would make decks with 1-mana hero powers as well as quests broken… meh, idk, still think Quests should be able to be used with Greymane.
Azalina Soulthief
Looks like a fun Mill tool… Oh wait, Coldlight’s gone from standard…
Jokes aside, this looks like one of those cards which I should purely fun-based (unless you somehow pull off some Cho-Curse of Rafaam shenanigans or for whatever reason your opponent doesn’t play their Togwaggle Ransom right away). Meh, looks fun, and you could potentially copy a combo off your opponent, but I doubt this’ll be competitively viable *unless* cards come out to help it out.
It should also be of note that it copies quest rewards should your opponent complete their quest and save it (say, for an Exodia Mage combo or huge life gain w/ Amara), so it could be a great tech card if Exodia Mage gets a few new trinkets and such.
Next Week's Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Tavern Brawl Rewards 3 Knights of the Frozen Throne Packs!
Oh my bad; only rewarded for opponent chests! In that case, Taunt warrior looks decent, maybe some spells, etc.
Next Week's Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Tavern Brawl Rewards 3 Knights of the Frozen Throne Packs!
Looks as if Friendly-Sacrifice Warlock would do insanely well in this brawl, with the potential of Bloodbloom > Cataclysm and Pterodax, Sanguine, etc.
Tavern Brawl - Valeera's Bag of Burgled Spells
Could’ve done sooo much regarding K&C. Tbh I wouldn’t have minded if they just gave everyone their respective K&C pre-made decks. But nah, let’s just put a tavern brawl that (IMO) wasn’t even good to begin with at a time in which there could be something sooo much more innovative. I mean, I got my pack; no worries there. Probably won’t play the brawl again until next time around once for the pack; if I want to play spells which summon minions, I’ll just play Rok’delar Hunter.
Idk; Just don’t like the brawl in general, especially considering the entire premise of the brawl is complete randomness.
Kobolds and Catacombs Release Day Deck Roundup
Got Hunter legendary weapon (extremely fun to play with, surprisingly).
First 56 packs (50 from gold, 3 from log in, 3 from Tavern Brawl) I got King Togwaggle and Temporus. The nest 3 from Dungeon Run quests I got Master Oakheart. Eh, looked like I rolled relatively low. Aw well, better luck next time!
Buuut the ones I did get are pretty fun to experiment with, so that’s a plus. I’ll probably craft Kingsbane and maybe The Darkness later for funsies, but my current collection is fun to play with a bunch of theory crafting and attempting to abuse mechanics x3
Kobolds and Catacombs Guide, Release Date, Card Spoilers List
Priest: Razakus gets countered pretty hard by The Darkness and Fal’dorei Strider, of which Rogue has huge dominion, so Razakus will be hard to pull off if Rogue sees a high spot in the meta (which is probable). Dragons will probably win over Priest players.
Mage: New ideas with High-roller Mage decks are nice, featuring big spells and potential wins with the Mage Legendary. But knowing the HS Legend grinders, Quest Mage will most likely reign supreme.
Rogue: Oh, boy, am I going to be having some fun! No more relying on that Keleseth stuff, now time to play a bunch of memes, Miracles, and Mills! Yeeeeah booiii! (Obviously a Rogue “main”. Obviously disenchanted Quest when it got nerfed)
Warrior: Eh. Control may see a comeback. I’d totally be fine with that. DMH infinite Fatigue didn’t see much gain, but I can see a deck that duplicates infinite The Darkness 😀
Shaman: Eh, I’d say in a bad spot. A bunch of cool totem synergy, but basic totems are generally not that useful to begin with (besides maybe Spell Power and Taunt), so idk. Bloodlust could make the deck reeeaaally good with sticky minions and such. Could be decent, could flop.
Druid: New Armor synergies. But most likely Jade will stay predominant, with a couple possible switches to the main deck to adapt to the new meta.
Paladin: Silver Hand Recruit deck in wild, anybody? I absolutely loved that deck, and getting a couple new toys to play with is gonna be fun. Besides that, Galvadon Paladin may actually see some play with that Legendary 😀
Warlock: A few new Demon stuffs allowing for Bloodreaver to shine, with a new meme-deck featuring Rin. Handlock sees some lovin’ with the 4-mana 7/7 Taunt at low hps. I reckon it could be good.
Hunter: Probably the worst out of the expansion. Unless No-Minion Hunter sees some high-level play, I don’t reckon it’ll end up being good.
Hemet - Kingsbane (Theorycraft)
Well, the deck is really one of the first post-card release stream, so obviously the majority of decks wouldn’t have it yet 😉
Hemet is essentially how you get to the late game quickly without needing to deal with whatever extra spells you have in you’re deck. It allows the game to speed up immensely as opposed to playing Gadgetzan Auctioneer and cycling through your entire deck, and wins more control games with getting to the grind-stage faster rather than more aggressive games in which you value spells over the late game. If you want that sort of deck, there are Gadgetzan Auctioneer variants out there (I personally have another one without Cavern Shinyfinder if you want to see it). Go ahead and try them out if you feel! Or swap Hemet for Gadgetzan Auctioneer if you want to keep the flavor with Anub’arak 😀
The Dankness - Meme Deck
Glad you enjoyed! I love memes and theorycrafting, so obviously this is the expansion for me x3
Good luck on Spell Hunter! It’ll be tough without Yogg or Maly (or with the inconsistency of adding either/or), but we memers can always hope for the best! 😀
The Darkness
O wait, how does this work with Brann, second The Darkness, or burning the candle with a full hand or Togwaggle shenanigans? Or Azari the Destroyer? I’m intrigued.
The problem with Malchezaar is that he dilutes your deck and takes up a few draws, while FC “draws” you cards when played. As a result, FC has a smaller body to compensate.
