A Dispatch from Witchwood: What to Expect from the Upcoming Meta
Might be a bit misleading to have pics of Kingsbane when the section has nothing to do with Kingsbane now that the line is gone x3
A Dispatch from Witchwood: What to Expect from the Upcoming Meta
I really wish it did, but doesn’t look like it. Been too many times that I didn’t draw Leeching until really late, at which it either didn’t matter or I was already dead at that’s point.
On the bright side, if you’re running Deathrattles besides Kingsbane, it could be decent, pulling Kingsbane for the “lifesteal” tag over the other deathrattles… But realistically, which other deathrattles are you running in that deck?
A Dispatch from Witchwood: What to Expect from the Upcoming Meta
But Kingsbane already gets pulled from the Deathrattle part of Ashmore, so… I guess if you’re playing other Deathrattle cards in the deck, you have more of a chance to draw Kingsbane, but… eh.
Witchwood Piper
But two is fine though; drop one, draw the other. The other one draws Hemet, since you already dropped the first one.
Witchwood Piper
Can’t wait to use this in Holy Wrathadin as a 2-of with Hemet x3
As long as you get one by turn 4, you’re guaranteed an on-curve Hemet, Jungle Hunter into destruction: turn 4 drop one, pull the other, turn 5 drop the other, pull Hemet, turn 6 Hemet, turn 7 Wrath for win 😀
Problem is you’re not going to want a single minion besides Hemet, 2x Piper, and 2x Molten Giant, plus you don’t want ANYTHING 4+ mana (besides the aforementioned minions and Holy Wrath) to make the deck consistent, so… But it’s still a fun deck to try, and a lot more consistent than otherwise 😀
Witchwood Piper
The problem with trying to restrict Rogue, either odd or even, is that neither the upgraded hero power nor the discounted hero power are that GOOD to begin with. So you’re probably better off just building a regular Rogue deck.
But yes, building a Keleseth deck with this card could be cool. It’d be difficult to not run any 1-Mana OR 2-Mana minions (since you’d want to guarantee getting Keleseth), so… ye.
Witchwood Piper
3-Mana will get you a 3/4 with no drawback. That’s the highest amount of stats before things get a bit out of your control. 3/3 isn’t too far off of that. Compare that to, say, 4-mana 2/4 that draws you a card, and you get a bit more of an advantage by building your deck to complement this card.
Draw a card is generally 1-Mana attached to a card, plus two mana for each extra card. So think Arcane Intellect is 3-Mana for two (1 for first card, two for the next), while Sprint is 7 for 4 (1 for first, 2 for each of the other 3).
The beauty of this card isn’t that it simply draws you a card; the beauty is that it draws you SPECIFIC cards. In a deck with a specific win-con requiring a specific minion (Exodia Mage, Keleseth decks, etc), this card would shine, as it allows you to get the card you need, ESPECIALLY if your deck is mostly spells (Exodia Mage, in which your deck is either draw for win-con, or spells to get your Quest done).
Blink Fox
I mean… I thought it was pretty obvious I was talking Wild with Tomb Pillager… But ok.
Tess Greymane
Oh my apologies; “one” referred to the player, not Tess. I see the confusion now x3
Tess Greymane
Not sure if it was clear or not; YOU run Shadowstep in your deck to double-proc certain good minions as well as other burgle battlecries and Tess should she survive the randomness.
Blink Fox
What a curve. Swashburglar > Undercity Huckster > Blink Fox > … uh, idk… Not Lilian Voss. Anything but her. Um… Double Pick Pocket? Burgle?… Tomb Pillager? > Ethereal Peddler > Spam a bunch of cards > (Coin from Tomb Pillager) Tess Greymane. Keep at least SOME board presence, huge swing turn 6, another huge swing turn 7. Ever hear of Curve-stone? Here ya go x3
Absolutely loving the burgle stuffs. Gimme more <3
Tess Greymane
Assuming mirrored interaction with Yogg, it’ll stop the Battlecry if it kills itself in the process. Not that big of a deal since you can semi-control how it functions and know what has occurred during the game, so it’ll be somewhat predictable what all happens.
That being said, I’d love playing this deck in Wild. Standard? Not so much. You have Pick Pocket and Blink Fox to get you burgle mechanics… Hallucination… and that’s it. I’m probably missing some things (plus not all the cards have been revealed yet), but at the moment the deck simply doesn’t feel good, as you have very little activators for a mechanic which seems to require you to build an entire deck around.
Now in Wild, however, I’d absolutely love this card. The theme fits the aesthetic behind Rogues in general (Burglary and thievery), and although random, it’s insanely fun when the stars align and you get great drops. And in a deck FILLED with Burgle stuff, this’d be such a HUGE swing should you get half-decent luck throughout the game.
Also, something to note: the card replays every non-Rogue (or non-[insert class] card if you somehow get it’s in another class) card you’ve played. Now, Shadowstep allows you to double up on non-Rogue minions (thus getting, say, double Tirion from a bit of RNG and Shadowstep), but I’d like to know how this minion would work if one were to Shadowstep ITSELF. Concerning Yogg’s mechanism, it WOULDN’T work, so I’d guess it’d be the same.
Book of Specters
Can’t wait to see a Dollmaster Dorian > Double Book of Specters into Antonidas, Rhonin, and Sorceror’s apprentices (preferably on the first Book to reduce the second), into kill your own Rhonin and cast Arcane Missiles, getting three free Fireballs and a full hand of minions x3
Then again, that’s the absolute best scenario (probably not THE best, but close to it) with this card; generally, you’d want to run this in a minion-heavy deck (Mech Mage, Elemental Mage, etc.). Should be of note that this does NOT discard Jaina (Hero Card =/= spell), so Elemental Mage could have some fun.
Splitting Festeroot
Thought it wasn’t bad at first, then saw that the tokens also spawn more tokens. Cool; creates a sticky board with which one can, say, Savage Roar or Bloodlust afterwards, or just make a giant and sticky board with Umbra should she survive a turn. Then N’zoth (in wild) to bring back three guaranteed from one card, or combo’d could bring back more stickies.
Worth noting it could POTENTIALLY be 12/12 worth of sticky, Deathrattle stats, or just whiff into a 4/4 which gets silenced. And with the meta-dominating Cubelock once the expansion hits, it’ll be Silence heaven. So… rip any card with any colorful text.
Totem Cruncher
Try it with Void Terror and Blade of C’thun. Both double up on stats with a Brann proc even though the minion is technically destroyed, so I reckon this’ll have the same mechanic. If you’re too lazy to test it yourself, I’m pretty sure Dane has a video on his Shadowcaster deck with C’thun in which he uses the mechanic to his advantage with Blade of C’thun.
Totem Cruncher
I mean, the names were leaked, and what would you expect of a minion with the name “Totem Crusher”? But I too am impressed nonetheless; he got it nearly spot-on 😀
Totem Cruncher
Funnily enough, a Battlecry/Totem hybrid in Wild with Brann, Tuskarr Totemic, and Kobold Hermit would be pretty fun; with how Brann works with, say, Blade of C’thun, it “destroys” twice, gaining twice the stats. So you could double up on totems with your other battlecries, and if they don’t rid Brann from the field, down comes a gigantic taunt. Not necessarily top-tier (although it COULD possibly be…), but still a fun combo to try out 😀
Mistwraith
Hm… Echo Rogue… Interesting. You could either fill your deck with a bunch of echo cards (Face Collector, Pickpocket, Cheap Shot, neutrals) along with Shadowstep to get more echo procs, or you could build a hybrid Miracle with the standard Edwin/Questing package, while throwing in Pickpocket and Cheap Shot for a bit of consistency.
It should be of note that you only need ONE echo proc for this to be above average (then again, Yeti as a guide isn’t really relevant, plus you’re sacrificing the echo component of the card to make it seem lackluster compared to other cards, so…). Two procs leaves you with a 5/7 for 4, three in one turn gives you a 6/8. That’s pretty good. Not to mention there’ll (probably) be more echo synergy cards in Rogue, so that archetype could open up.
As for Miracle though, if you only have two echo spells, that isn’t really consistent enough to play this minion (especially since one of those spells FILLS YOUR HAND, in which you need space for your other spells). You’d want much more than just four cards out of thirty to make this card worth the amount of mana you’d need to chug into him, so as of now (since there could and probably will be more echos), this card isn’t that good in Miracle.
Toki, Time-Tinker
I can already see Dane throwing this into his Brann Zola Mage with Leyline Manipulator x3
To be fair, if you get a huge board sweeper (Twisting Nether, Doom Pact, etc.), you’re going to either not play it until after Tess or you’d want to reroll it. Lilian is a great way to get rid of either bad spells or sweeper spells you don’t want Tess to proc.
