Divine Hymn
This… it’s difficult to rate this. It can be very powerful with a high-health board. With Velen your Hero restores 12 health. But those case scenarios will probably not occur often. So in worse case scenario, this could be read as 2 mana: restore 6 health to your hero. It can definitely be included in Big Priest, now that Greater Healing Potion is rotating. And if you get to heal two minions with Cleric on board, you get insane value. I’m gonna go with 3.5/5 stars, I think it’s worse than Greater Healing Potion as Hero heal, and can’t combo like Circle of Healing for damage with Auchenai Soulpriest. But in the scenarios where you do have a board, this can be very useful.
Cutthroat Buccaneer
Kingsbane support, finally. And it’s mediocre, why couldn’t this be a 3/4? But it’s something, so 3/5 stars.
Unpowered Steambot
Blizzard, why? WHYYYY??? WHY do you print 0-attack Taunts??? Public Defender, Shieldbearer… do any of those see play? Wax Elemental at least saw some play because it had Divine Shield, but these kind of cards are HORRIBLE. 1/5 stars.
Quartz Elemental
This probably should have 1 extra attack to really be worth it. At one point it will have too much damage for you to be able to heal it with Hero Power, so then it’s a dead card on board. You can still Purify or Silence it then for an unexpected attack. But other than that, poor stats for its downside. Anyone else find it ironic that Priest got an Enrage card?
Nightscale Matriarch
It has good health so it’s very reasonable to get good value out of this. Have some Circle of Healing in hand and pop some 3/3s. Also activates Dragon synergies. It’s solid! 3.5/5 stars.
Hench-Clan Thug
Another Tempo Rogue buff in the form of a minion. This can work very well in both Warrior and Rogue. Maybe even Shaman. 3 mana 4/4 with potential to snowball is GOOD! 4/5 stars.
Tanglefur Mystic
Mandatory Doomsayer jokes incoming.
Competitive side of things… Mill decks? Handdruid? Otherwise, why rely on RNG? This can be very good or very bad… 2/5 stars, too unreliable. But I’d consider it as I said in Mill decks or Handdruid.
Darkmire Moonkin
Do we need to get bad Spell Damage minions in EVERY single expansion? Come on – which Spell Damage minions are good? Those CHEAP ones (Thalnos, Zealot…) or those with acceptable stats for what they do (Azure Drake, Black Cat). Or Malygos, because it enables OTKs. But I’ve never EVER seen understated Spell Damage minions be competitive. Corrupted Kobold? Street Trickster? Yep. This falls in the understatted category. 1/5 stars.
Marsh Drake
The tool Tempo Rogue needed to be good again. And of course it’s a neutral! Hahahaha Yeah, I think this is strong, especially in Rogue. And in Wild Priest will like to Potion of Madness your poisonous. =) 4.5/5 stars.
Curio Collector
This seems a bit too slow, but it can be crazy with Aluneth online. If you drop it on 5, your opponent will remove it at all costs, and for you to combo it with card draw you need to wait until turn 7 with book of Specters. You need to draw at least 2 cards for it to be worth it (vanilla 5 mana 4/4 or 5/5 would never be run on a deck). 2.5/5 stars. It’s definitely a good inclusion in spell-less Mage.
Cinderstorm
This is a bad spell! Arcane Missiles is 3 damage for 1 mana, here you pay 2 more mana to do 2 more damage? For it to be competitive it should deal at least 6 damage I think. Don’t forget you can discover this from Primordial Glyph or get it from RNG Mage spell generators, so it dilutes that pool. Did Greater Arcane Missiles ever see any play? Yeah, I don’t think so… Spell Mage got bad support this expansion, it seems. 1/5 stars.
Swamp Dragon Egg
Netherspite Historian substitute!! xD Just kidding, it’s much worse. Still, never underestimate eggs! Play this turn 1 and turn 2 put a Flametongue Totem and it possibly kills the opponent’s 1-drop and survives. I always liked eggs, and it was definitely turn for another dragon egg. I like the flavor of the card, you don’t know what was inside, and it can come and haunt you! 3/5 stars.
Earthen Might
Slow tempo, but it’s good to generate Elemental Chain synergy. It’s also not too bad on Turn 2 on a Fire Fly (think Warlock Zoo and playing Demonfire on a Voidwalker – if it’s solid there, why not in Shaman?). Also another cheap spell that I don’t mind getting from RNG. Not OP, but it’s reasonable. 3/5 stars.
Hidden Wisdom
So we got to see the new Paladin Secret. It’s not Avenge by any means. Like the Hunter Secret, it will heavily depend on the meta, or if you’re going first. Still, before or after your oponent will surely play 3 cards in a turn, and you’d like to draw 2 cards at any stage of the game. So it’s solid. 3.5/5 stars, good Paladin Secret.
Blazing Invocation
Good Shaman spell! Suddenly random Shaman Spells are not sounding too bad. This actually recycles very well with Hagatha, and can be used at any stage of the game. Giving it 4/5 stars.
Exactly! Since Fireball is 6 TARGETED damage, it makes sense that it would cost 1 more mana. So this should do 6 damage too. Pyroblast is way overcosted, but that’s because it can be used to reach lethal (if it did 12 damage, which would be more “fair”, it would be OP). Arcane Missiles saw play when Flamewalker was a thing. Now it has potential to come back with the Raven that creates 2-drops when you cast a spell. But this… this won’t see any play!
