Night Prowler
How often is the board free from minions on Turn 4? Maybe after a Doomguard? Seems too situational. 1.5/5 stars.
Ratcatcher
Power Overwhelming combo as others have suggested in Wild. This is a fair card, I sometimes play Sacrifice Warlock for fun. This will go into that deck. 2.5/5 stars.
Furious Ettin
Even in Arena, I like Bog Creeper’s 6/8 stat-distribution better. 2/5 stars.
Cauldron Elemental
Obvious comparison is Murloc Warleader. Understatted, costly, and Elementals don’t flood the board like Murlocs do. So yeah… pretty underwhelming win-more card. 2/5 stars.
Felsoul Inquisitor
Needs to be buffed to be good. 1 attack Lifesteal is kind of a joke. 1/5 stars.
Dark Possession
If Dark Pact gets nerfed, this will be used instead to activate Lackey. With the potential of discovering another Doomguard or Void Daddy. Why are we making Cubelock stronger, Blizzard? 4/5 due to power level, but I hate to see this card printed.
Lifedrinker
Nightblade is crying, since it got power crept. Still, this probably doesn’t make the cut in Constructed. 2/5 stars.
Sandbinder
Does Gnomish Inventor see play? No? Well this doesn’t seem it’s gonna be much better. Unless there’s a specific Elemental that you want to draw (maybe Pyros?), but most Elementals work as a chain. And so this will be unreliable. You may draw a Firefly or Baron Geddon. So I don’t think this is in general better than Gnomish Inventor. 1.5/5 stars.
Snap Freeze
This tries very hard to be Shatter, but fails miserably. Sure, it can remove a big threat that Shatter couldn’t otherwise remove. But Shatter could go face (great in Burn Mage) and it also cost 1-mana, and 90% of the time it would remove a minion in the same way that this would. So no, another mediocre spell to dilute Mage’s pool of spells. 1.5/5 stars.
Mad Hatter
All hail clown RNG fiesta!
1/5 stars, too costly for a random effect. Best case scenario is if you have a board and your opponent doesn’t. But if your opponent DOESN’T have a board, it’s probably because he’s playing control. So he’ll have a board clear for your buffed minions. This is not good even in Arena because it’s very strange that your opponent doesn’t have a board by Turn 4.
Swamp Leech
As a 1-drop this is average-bad. Lifesteal does nothing in the early game. HOWEVER. If you get a Houndmaster buff, it’s some nice health that you get back. BETTER STILL. It’s great stats for little cost on a Zombeast. I’m excited to play DK Rexxar this expansion. Also, Hunter is losing his cats, so at least you get another 1-drop beast to play with Dire Mole. But as a rule of thumb Dire Mole is waaaay better than this. 2/5 stars as a card, 5/5 stars as a Zombeast.
Witchwood Imp
USeful for Zoo? I mean, Warlock already has very good 1-drops: Flame Imp, Librarian and Voidwalker. Also, this is a Demon, and very underwhelming to resurrect with Gul’Dan. So I think it will be cut from Zoo, just like Possessed Villager was powercrept away. 2/5 stars.
Chief Inspector
OK, we FINALLY get a good anti-Secret tech. This is waaaay better than Eater of Secrets, since a vanilla 4/6 for 5 is MILES ahead better than a vanilla 2/4 for 4-mana. Still, it’s a tech card, and Secret Mage and Secret Hunter have lost support in this expansion and will probably not be around in Standard. In WILD, however, this is great to tech in, seeing as you still run into Mysterious Challenger and Secret Mage is a T1 deck there. Giving this 4/5 stars.
Fiendish Circle
Terrible card. If at least Warlock had a summon a Demon quest like Shaman does… But no, this makes Gul’Dan worse. And in Wild you have Forbidden Ritual, which is in every way better. Terrible card, but Warlock already got other OP cards, so it doesn’t matter. 0/5 stars.
Deranged Doctor
Very meh. Doesn’t make the cut. Still solid in Arena. 1.5/5 in Constructed. 3/5 in Arena.
Yes, I meant Ice Lance. Sorry. 🙂
