Aegwynn, the Guardian
Now, usually for a 5 Mana 5/5 with a Deathrattle that draws a minion isn’t anything to right home about. Think Big Ol’ Whelp, expect the draw is slower, and chances are that it could even be cancelled, had there be silence, however due to how good Burn Mage is doing, and how you can effectively gain a buff, I think this fits home for Aggro and Burn Mages, and maybe even some Tempo Mages here and there. And Since it’s Spell Damage +2, and it’s not picking favourites, that means that Burn Mage can really Pop Off.
From what was once a Deck that has some consideration at first glance, to those players that had practice with Burn Mage, It finally paid off with Aegwynn.
5 Stars for Tempo and Burn Mage. Will See Play.
Overlord Runthak
eeh. It’s fine. But it may not be enough. Sure it’s nice for hand or midrange, but a 3/6 for 5 mana, even if it does have rush, is almost no different then having a Ringmaster Baton for warrior. 3 stars.
Felsoul Jailer
This is effectly Moat Lurker but for Warlocks instead. , and funny enough, for how food Felsoul can be, it is recommended to NOT play this in Duels, becuase of yu having a good chance of fighting another willow. It shows some form of potential, and t’s not entirely useless. It’s just that you need to find a way to use it correctly. 3 stars.
Novice Zapper
Noivce zapper is the Aggro Card that Shman’s been look for this whole time. While yes at 1 Overload, the amount of over-the-sotp stats that really shows just how aggro novice is going. But WIll Shamans use them? Maybe. And it’s all becuase of that Overload, believe it or not. Escpially for Evolve Shaman.
4 Stars, sometimes that 1+ spell damage is not enough.
Vanessa VanCleef
Vanessa is a 2 mana 2/3, “Draw a Speific card”, and for some that might just be enough.
Well in that case, this would be the actual Bloodmage Thalnos or Loot Hoarder for me, but it’ more then just trying a draw. It’s the specific last one, tha the opponent used.
I’m going to give it 4 stars. I can see this being use, and trying to threaen your board, and this could even be like a mini Murazond, but for Preiest instead.
Peon
Eeh. It’s a 2 mana 2/3. And while yes, you could draw and take it for the early game, it doesn’t always work in your favour. For one, that frenzy will not happen, unless you have something like the Broomstick. And, secondly, it’s a 2 mana 2/3. So it’s not going to serve well either unless it’s still early game.
for a 2 mana 2/3, I was expecting it to be more of a 1/4 instead, since your using it to take spells. 1 star, won’t see play unless you hand buff it.
Sunscale Raptor
I do see Sunscale Raptor to be a good card for something like Hunter. This may even give off a nice reference to Carnassa’s Brood or the Raptor Hatchling back in Un’Goro. It’s a nice 1/3, and I think I can see it being used. Plus, Having this being permanently handbuffed, show potential for meme power Sunscale Raptor could really have.
4 Stars.
Druid of the Plains
I don’t think people are giving it were Crediters do. This is Effectively Druid’s version of Coilfang Warlord, bu it has been tone down a bit o not make it too ridiculous. Being about to deal 7 Damage, and then becoming a 6/7 with Taunt is amazing, and I don’t see why people would give it a 4 Star. I think it deserves 5 for me. This is powerful.
Mankrik
Mankrik is a good Minion who can automatically “Charge” at the enemy’s face. Sadly this won’t be in your hand for the 3/10, so you can’t just handbuff it, but it will be interesting to see it happen.
I’m going to give Mankrik a 4 Star, just becuase you ned to draw it out for the 3/10.
Spirit Healer
This is basically the Lightsteed without the Lightsteed. This is fine, but you really need to spam your Holy spells for Spirit Healer to work. Which is why I’m giving it a 1 Star. I just don’t think that It’ll enough.
Desperate Prayer
Eeh. Nothing too special. However since Shadow Priest is coming back, we’ll see what will happen. From what you see, it’s just a fillar crd, but with Shadowform, it can easily become an Execution move.
3 Stars.
Imp Swarm (Rank 1)
Eeeeh.. It’s alright, but I don’t enitrely think that Warlock will actually car about Imp Swarm, simply becuase we see it as Too weak, at least for now.. THough at Rank 2, and surely at Rank 3 may say my thought about it otherwise, I just don’t entirely believe in it. But… Who knows. It might be good.
2 Stars for me, though.
Bru'kan
Now, since Blizzard have changed and Reworked Spell Damage for how it can work out to be, we’ll just have to experiment with what have. With that being Said, having +3 Spell Damage is TERRIFYING, and defentially something of a soft taunt of a minion to try and get rid off. 5 Srars for the Stats and Spell Damag it pulls off. Going all the way to +3. Not even +2.
Razormane Raider
Eeeh. Just a Filler Card. Nothing to be serious about, unless they somehow pull a 180 on us by a sudden meta. 1 Star.
Chain Lightning (Rank 1)
Chain Lightning Is good, is just that it needs some testing to do. We use Cards like Heart of C’Thun, but people still think that it may not be not enough. I’m going to give it 3 Stars. I think it has potential, but I don’t think that people see it yet.
Shadow Hunter Vol'jin
Shadow Hunter Voljin is actually a good card. It’s not entirely Dirty Rat, but it can feel like you have it’s power, though.
I only wish it was a 3 mana 2/3 instead, so that way you have a lot more Variety with what you can pull off a lot more imagination with the power of Voljin, but I can understand why it’s 5 mana, and it’s for BIg Decks for when you swap your decks.
Still, though I’m giving Voljin even 5 stars, for how Whenever I see a card that needs to be filled out, I can just put in Voljin. I can see a Dirty Rat, for when you can Snipe out a Card that’s a strong minion and replace it with a weak one, or to destroy a core card that they had.
Deathwing the Destroyer
Deathwing does come at a price, unless your Discardlock, and which he WILL use and Abuse Deathwing. But you bestially think of Deathwing like a Lord Barov, expect that you will lose your cards (Maybe even all of them), and it’s turning 10, and not turn 3-7, unless you cheat him out. Now, if you can somehow resurrect Deathwing, then good on you, becuase N’zoth would Love to have a giant body to give as a soft taunt for whenever it may not be enough.
Now, Granted you may think that Deathwing is useless for Control Decks out there, but even whenever you are in a Last Resort type of idea, Deathwing can just swoop in and MAYBE save your day from you tilting for you to concede. I’d recommend getting both malygos and Deathwing into your Tempo or Midrange deck, as I think it would be the most beneficial for where you want them to be at.
4 Stars, just becuase, for even a 10 mana 12/12 like Deathwing, that also gives you a free Brawl, and Deathwing always wins, but at a cost of you potentially discarding your entire deck, you need to play him more carefully and not using him willy nilly for board clear.
Much like how Aegwynn was Universal for All Burn and Tempo mage Decks, Alexstrasza is no different; being Universal for ALL Control-style orianted Decks. It’s a 9 Mana 8/8, Deal 8 Damage (Most of the Time.)
Sadly, you’d barely ever actually use the Restoring bit, unless you are behind, or if you want to save an important or a big minion with taunt maybe, and even then, 8 Health is usually a universal Health can take down any none high-health Dragons. so you’d still be killing something, or you could even have a near Pyroblast for your opponent to deal with, along with a body.
Sadly, I think Hearthstone is moving towards a more fast-paced Orianted Deck, I know that Burn mage is doing so, Depending on the Meta, Though I would easily say that would had been a “5 Stars for All Control Decks, Will see play.” I sadly have to give it 4. As much I love Alexstrasza, there’s just no real way that Alexstrasza can truly keep up with the more Cutthroat Decks, but can easily take down the Timetaker Decks and even plenty of Midrange Decks, too.
Overall, Sadly 4 Stars, almost 5.
I do hope however that this doesn’t discourage players that “They can no longer play Control” all because everyone and their mom will probably play Burn Mage with Baron and Aegwynn. Remember that sometimes even a Control Deck can Take down an Aggro Deck. Once Aggro runs out of Gas, and so long as you control the board, your value will be overrun and you could turn the table to win the fight as well.
