Raid Boss Onyxia
Now, THIS is actually a cool card to print out. And using the idea of the whelps as a way to protect Onyxia from being destroyed is an extra nice touch on the field, as well. Now, yes, 10 mana is pretty bad, but judging that you have a board filled with bodies, even if they are weak 2/1s, and you have Onyxia that’s an 8/8 that also has Rush, makes up for it. This is like its own version of Runaway Blackwing, and I’m sure that those 2 dragons alone can become close friends for Control Decks.
4 Stars, almost 5, just because of the cost being at 10.
Haleh, Matron Protectorate
It’s just a flavourful card, aaaaaand that’s kinda it. 1 Star.
Maybe this could be used for Big Spell Mage, but whatever Big spell Mage seems to be doing, Quest Mage seems to be better from how I’m seeing it? I think I’ve only encountered just 1 Big Spell Mage, through his entire expansion, which is sad, becuase I do like seeing the meta shifting into what could be the next new experiment out there.
They could have made this a 6 mana 4/8, and maybe it’ll be a 3 star, becuase now your talking about a minion that can automatically fight back. THe worst thing this minion do is just to become a body that’s waiting to be destroyed by a spell. It’s just going to brick in your hand.
Gear Grubber
I think 3 Stars is fair, and 4 Stars is just me being Generous, but I’m going to give it 3, and here’s why.
There have been quite a few times where there are minions that you happen to draw since turn 1, and there have been moments where it’s 4 mana, and it just so happen that you draw out gear grubber, when you needed her at around turn 2 or so.
So really, it’s a 50-50 Card; It’s either just a nice niche card to have for whenever you need to fill out your board with value minions, or this card is crazy enough to mulligan your Hand just to find gear grubber, except for Zoolock, because they like cards like this.
But competitively speaking, Iiii doesn’t know about that one chief. I’m sure that players would worry about a 3 mana 4/5 with taunt, but would tournaments care about a 2-3 mana 4/5 with taunt?
Tooth of Nefarian
So, I think the reason why we don’t like Tooth of Nefarian is that we honestly don’t want to put in the effort of having a 3 mana spell that realistically speaking takes down a 2-4 mana minion and maybe have a decent card, when we simply have cards do that but better; like Quest Rogue, for example. I’m not too sure if even Thief Rouge would want this, either.
1 Star.
Horn of Wrathion
I honestly believe that Dragon Priest will be a thing in Hearthstone; it’s just that we’re still waiting for more support to be printed out.
now, at value as it is, It’s a “3 Mana ‘restricted’ card that Draws a minion and you deal 2 damage twice to enemy minions. I’d give this at around let’s say 4, maaaaybe 5 mana because you are tutoring for a dragon? That’s actually pretty nice. And 4 free damage is no joke, either.
I’d give this 4 Stars. I’d say it’s only ranked lower because there just isn’t enough support as of yet, but give it time and maybe there will be.
Just hoping we don’t have Priest PTSD again, with the old Dragon Priest, or Rez Priest.
Ring of Courage
Not too shabby. Even using it generically with 2 enemy minions is good enough, but players want to aim for 3 or more; ideally speaking.
If Token meta happen, then paladins can respond better, if not then paladin can kinda respond with Ring of Courage.
3 Stars.
Drakefire Amulet
So, How good do we feel about basically putting having a “10 Mana, Pretty Much just make 2 8/8s, and maybe you also finish the final piece of Quest Mage?” I would say it’s not bad, but man is it expensive. Now they did make it tradable which is nice, so you have a greater chance to play your 10 mana card for later. I think the main issue is that peoples want to use the 2 8/8s, but the problem is that they are just used as 2 soft taunts that the opponent has to react to or otherwise they take 16 damage; which in itself is still good, but now you’re facing the value of who spent more mana, The Mage or the Opponent?
Maybe you spent 18 mana in value, but to take down those 2 drakes, it might have only cost them as 5 Mana (Brawl) or maybe even let’s say 8 (2 Generic “Destroy an enemy minion” Cards). So yeah, it doesn’t picture Drakefire Amulet too well, sadly speaking.
To me, I do see the Potential of Drakefire Amulet, but so far, we’ll have to wait for the 50-50 Idea. It’s either going to be a 1-star too expensive Mage Card, or a 4 or even a 5-star card, because it turns to that not only can mage fight back, but can even wait for the late game.
This is a card that we need to experiment with for like one or even a few matches before we can our minds and then the meta changes our minds for us. I like the Flavour of the card, but I have to think of it as Tug of War: Can my 18 Mana Value outweigh your Mana Value?
3 Stars.
Scale of Onyxia
I’ll say this: It’s not terrible because of the whelps because We have something similar for Demon Hunter and it surprisingly was pretty solid to have for him. The issue is if could have either asked for maybe one more attack or if it cost 1 less. Then I’d think players would have liked Scale of Onyxia more.
It’s not a terrible card by any means, but the only time it will ever be terrible is if the game makes it terrible by not adding in any support for Scale of Onyxia. We’ll see what will happen.
3 Stars.
Boomkin
yeah, let’s be real. this is going to be Deal 4 damage a lot of times. many of those times, Boomkin might as well say “Destroy a minion” because most of the early and some of the mid-game cards have around 4 health anyways. Restoring 8 is nice, too. that’s having a free ice barrier for Druid. so you can kinda see this as valuable is just a plain “2 mana 4/5” for druid.
I’d even agree to give it 5 stars. If you are not there to have a free Ice barrier and you’re there for a free worse version of assassinate which is still good enough to have.
Bracing Cold
This is effectively the Shaman version of Lunar Escaplise expect it’s heal and not damage. Discounts are discounts, and discounts are nice to have. I’d consider at least 1 copy of Bracing Cold, because I don’t know why, but some things telling me at the back of my head that this is going to be a 50-50 card. It’s either going to be a worthless card, or it’s going to be a really good cad to have.
3 Stars, potentially 5 in the future.
Curse of Agony
This is the first time a card has been printed specifically for more Mill Damage.
I unironically think this is probably the stupidest yet powerful card we have yet for Hearthstone, especially with Quest Warlock. Mind you that this is shuffled at 3, as well, so you have 6 or even possibly more of the Agonies if you have more copies of them.
6 Stars for Quest Warlock.
Dragonbane Shot
It’s going to be awkward at first glance to use dragonbane shot, but remember that a lot of the weaker minions are at around 2 mana. so so long as you have that mindset with you, you can then understand that dragonbane shot is not too terrible of a card.
Give it some time and practice with Dragonbane and I think we’re looking at a 4-star card.
Hit It Very Hard
I’m calling it now, somewhere down the line, there’s going to be really stupid OTK Combo with Hit it Very hard, either in wilds or in the future. Right now it’s just a 1 mana destroy a minion. I think even with a weapon it still wouldn’t work, or otherwise, it would just be really stupid.
3 Stars
Impfestation
It’s a 6 mana deal 3 damage to everything so long as you have enough board. Yeah. It’s nice. I like it. It could even be a universal card as well since most Warlocks have this Control-style Architype. Even Zoo would want this too, because there have been times where the opponent can have some minions too, maybe some have taunts and you want to clear it out the way so you can burst down their health more.
I’d give this 4 stars. mind you that universally speaking, the biggest AOE damage that we’ve seen is 3. So dealing 3 damage to all enemies, so long as you have enough space onboard is just nice overall.
4 stars.
Kazakusan
This is an “Out-the-Window, Have-Fun” Finale Crazy Dragon card for everyone, so long as you have Dragons. This is a Seriously Cool card to have on board, and it’s pretty damn powerful too for what it offers. I’d say every class would be experimenting with Kazakusan for how much value it’s giving off; even for those that don’t really like playing dragon would be trying out Dragon.
And Imagine the potential you have in Duels as well. Dragon Hunter with Kazakusan for Example.
5 Stars.
Okay, so Imagine if Agony just suddenly deals 3 damage for you, and that’s at 1 mana. Now Imagine that same card dealing 4 or 5 damage to you. And this is just for 1 mana. I didn’t read the text wrong or anything, and I know it goes to the opponent’s deck and not on your deck, and it’s still that powerful so long as you complete your quest Warlock deck.
Being able to shuffle 3 fatigue Damages are no joke. Yes, it does take a while, but after it does 3 damage and beyond, that’s when the fatigue damage become scary. Warlock can use Altar of Fire or TIckatus, and then play Agony to enforce your fatigue, by the way.
Warlock has so many tools to manipulate the opponent with whatever tomfoolery it wants to pull off. It has Dread Imps and Quest. It has Draw Potential. It has TIckatus and Altar of Fire. So Also adding in Agony to make your fatigue ramp up even further is just another layer for Warlock to quest possibly be in the tier 1 deck. Ivrus is also a thing, and that’s a neutral, too.
Now, I say Quest Warlock because that’s probably the warlock that wants to be using Agony the most because they benefit from Fatigue Damage, which also belongs to yours as well. So now you have to worry with double the fatigues; both his and now yours that he just created.
