Best Hearthstone Decks - Standard Meta Tier List - The Great Dark Beyond (November 2024)
Priest isn’t in a great spot right now. Miracle version shows most promise, but it’s still not a great deck. Or rather, it IS great when it works, but it’s not an incredibly consistent one – you get a lot of terrible hands that you just can’t win with. It’s also pretty difficult, so in the lower ranks it’s a low Tier 3 deck at best. It got briefly popular in high Legend, but mostly because of the novelty – players still didn’t knew exactly what it can do and how to face it. Once they’ve started teching for it, it was no longer that good.
But it’s basically the story of Priest every rotation. The class has a pretty weak Classic set, which means that it relies heavily on the expansion cards. We just had a lot of the good expansion cards rotate out, and not enough were added in their place yet. I think that it should get better going into 2nd and 3rd expansion of this year. It happened in Year of the Mammoth (Highlander Priest), Year of the Raven (Resurrect Priest) and it will probably happen again once Priest gets more good tools. Of course, the perfect solution would be to fix their Classic set by buffing it a bit, but right now buffing is against Blizzard’s policy for some reason.
Hearthstone Wild Meta Decks Tier List - Scholomance Academy Update
Wild Meta Tier List was just updated for Rise of Shadows. Huge thanks to Roffle for doing it!

Hand Rogue - Rise of Shadows - #41 Legend (J_Alexander) - Updated
When I’m posting meta decks people complain that they’re boring, same decks that they face on ladder all the time. And then when I post off-meta decks and weird builds, they downvote them ๐

Safe to Disenchant cards weren’t updated for the Rise of Shadows yet. And yeah, I didn’t expect Flark to actually start seeing play back then. But that’s what can happen after rotation.

“Control Shaman seems to be one of the more popular and potent decks” – not really, though. When i was updating this no one was playing Control Shaman (and as much as I would love to, I can’t predict the future). Calling it potent is also a bit of an overstatement. It’s a Tier 3 deck right now according to stats. It’s played now mostly because of HCT World Championship, not because it’s an amazing deck. Keep in mind that tournament meta is different than ladder meta, mostly because you can just ban Warrior, which is something you can’t do on ladder.
I’ll probably do another round of updates soon(-ish) and if Control Shaman actually sees common meta play (it might happen, because Shaman got some really good cards this expansion, but so far they don’t seem to be just enough), then I’ll definitely add it.

Have some ideas about this?
Yeah, it’s called being paranoid ๐

We do have one, actually. It’s just called “Tempo Rogue” here. I’ll need to update it a bit soon (because the deck list is a bit outdated) but most of the strategy section should be fine: https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/deck-guide/tempo-rogue-deck-list-guide/

Mecha'thun Warrior - Rise of Shadows - #9 Legend (Aojiru)
The idea behind those two decks is a bit different. The one with Shield Slam is just a Control Warrior with Mecha’thun + Galvanizer added to potentially win some Control matchups, but it has obvious downsides (normal CW doesn’t draw that much + you can’t pull it off if you don’t have Armor).
This is more of a combo deck, since it runs more card draw and has a 100% guaranteed combo even without Armor. This one is more akin to the Boomship version, which runs Mecha’thun + Boomship + Malygos + 2x Inner Rage + Whirlwind. And it’s basically the same amount of combo pieces – both run 6. Which one of those is better is hard to say – in Control matchups they’re basically the same, but against faster decks (where you don’t need your combo), Boomship versions has potential Malygos clears with Inner Rage or Whirlwind, while this one has Voodoo Doll + Inner Rage combo to kill anything, which is a great tempo move, but costs 2 cards. So… in the end they’re really similar. But both are different than the Shield Slam version.
Mecha'thun Warrior - Rise of Shadows - #9 Legend (Aojiru)
Yes, for Chef Nomi. Believe it or not, but Miracle Priest is actually pretty common in high Legend, and it lets you kill it with Warpath.
Hearthstone Animated Short - "Win or Lose"
But why is that a weak point of the game? It just shows the Aggro (boar-centered) vs Control (reactive) matchup – one side tries to build the board and other tries to clear it. It works like that in other card games too, and it’s not the weak point, it’s just one of the matchups.
And I would never draw the conclusion that it’s how the game actually works like every time just from watching this.
Hearthstone Legendary Crafting Guide (Standard) - United in Stormwind
The thing is – it doesn’t matter that she’s bad against aggro, because you absolutely need her for Control mirrors. And since Control decks are rather popular right now, you can’t drop her. If you want to play Control (so Control Warrior, Bomb Warrior, Control Shaman), Elysiana is a must. If your opponent has her and you don’t, you lose. Not 100% of the time, sometimes you will pull off a win through pressure, but most of the time you will just get outgrinded.
That’s why there’s not really much you can do – if you play Control, you need to get her.

Hearthstone Legendary Crafting Guide (Standard) - United in Stormwind
Yeah, right now Epics seem to be a lot bigger concern than Legendaries. There aren’t a TON of “must have” Legends, while lots of decks require multiple Epics to play them competitively.
I’ll update the Epic crafting guide next – it should be ready by Friday!
