I disagree. I have played a lot of Taunt Warrior and the list is pretty tight, there’s a fine balance between Taunt minions, removal and card draw. If you take too many cards of one area the deck loses its consistency. I’m already running a Blackwald Pixie and an Ooze as techs and they seem clunky many times. Drywhisker Armorer is run to counter flood decks and also because it has outstanding synergy with Cornered Sentry. You would definitely not want to run this guy in Taunt Warrior just for some extra Armor. Firstly, you usually play Quest on 1. Secondly, this doesn’t have Taunt, so it doesn’t progress your Quest. And 4-6 extra Armor is not worth a card.
Security Rover
Overcosted. It just looks like a worse Hogger, which also costs 6 mana. Sure, the mech tags make a difference with Dr Boom’s passive ability, but I believe we will only see this card when generated from Discovering Mechs, and not by including it in a deck. When played with Rush, it’s decent. Otherwise it’s bad. So 1.5/5 stars.
Replicating Menace
Eggnapper saw play in early Ungoro in the Token Druid deck, since its stickiness and AOE buffs available to druid (plus Beast tags) made it good. KFT however brought Defile, which annihilates the card. Eggnapper is only viable in Arena now (it’s actually decent there). This costs 1 more mana and leaves behind an extra token, and can also Magnetize. I don’t think that justifies this costing an extra mana, and on itself it’s still super vulnerable to pings and Defiles. So I don’t think this will see play. 1/5 stars
Storm Chaser
I said it COULD curve out, not that it would. If you run an Aggro deck with Bloodlust, Doomhammer and Leeroy as finishers, then playing ghis card on 4 WILL curve out to Bloodlust always, so it’s definitely powerful
Storm Chaser
Volcano, Bloodlust, Sapphire Spellstone, Eureka… and we still haven’t seen the legendary Shaman Spell. Good tutoring targets, and it can curve if played on 4 to play the drawn card on 5. Stats are also great for 4 mana (normally it’s a 2/4, see Gnomish Inventor and Sandbinder). All in all, 4/5 stars card.
Thunderhead
I believe this is a better Violet Teacher. Spawning an extra 1/1 in a class with Bloodlust and Flametongue Totem? Yes, please! Sure, Overload is an uncomfortable mechanic, but you can play minions, spells and even weapons with Overload, not just spella like Violet Teacher. I’m eager to try a tempo Overload Shaman, that has been impossible since Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem rotated out. And yes, we have the Combo Overload deck with Snowfury Giant, which is fun, but why not an Overload Tempo? 3.5/5 stars.
Necrium Blade
This in general seems weaker than Shadowblade, although it will of course be experimented with in Deathrattle Rogue. The problem with weapons in Rogue is that they make the Hero Power redundant, like a card like Flare would never be run in Warlock, since that class has card draw on demand. So weapons need to be something special to be considered including. Kingsbane is an example, but it needs the whole deck to support it. This weapon can provide great value if it can proc Devilsaur Egg or Cube, or the new Rogue Mech that spawns a 1/1 Poisonous Rush. Otherwise it’s probably too clunky. Worst case is if you have one charge left but need to attack for tempo (eg make Hench Clan Thug grow), but you are tempted to hold back to get value of the DR. And that can happen quite often. This looks like a 2/5 weapon in general, but I believe it can be a 3.5/5 in the DR deck.
Voltaic Burst
If I’m summoming two 1/1s I’d rather do it as soon as possible. Look at Zap! Cool card, we thought it would be as good as Backstab. Turns out it doesn’t make the cut to include in any deck.
Augmented Elekk
I like it! It can be both a nice 3-drop if needed or a powerful value tool in the end game. If a deck tries to win via Fatigue, they will probably consider this guy. Just saying it comboes with 7-mana Archbishop Benedictus, lol! 3/5 stars.
Power Word: Replicate
If Zerek is one of the main reasons… You can’t even combo this out on the same turn! Yeah the experimenter and the modified Loot Hoarder are nice, but nowhere near the power level of what other classes are getting. They better get another AOE, because right now you pretty much need Duskbreaker and a dragon package to have something viable.
Power Word: Replicate
Can anyone explain why would you ever run this over Faceless Manipulator? Like Faceless can even target enemy minions, ffs! Is there a minion with low stats that would be busted with 5/5 stats? Please don’t say Angry Chicken… 0.5/5 stars. RIP Priest so far in Boomsday.
Juicy Psychmelon
As others have said, tutoring key combo cards can be huge. Since Druid already has a lot of card draw, having more than one copy of this card will be clunky. Otherwise, it’s useful to tutor that Maly or Alex that are in the bottom part of your deck. Think how Taunt Druid only needs one Master Oakheart to get Hadronox on board, and how you wouldn’t more than one copy of it. Anyway, 4.5/5 stars.
Voltaic Burst
Obvious comparisons are Lost in the Jungle, Alleycat, Living Roots. This card… can’t work as a 1-drop, since the Overload on 2 is a massive tempo loss. It’s only useful if you can combo it with Flametongue Totem, Witch’s Cauldron, Cult Master or Bloodlust (or similar shenanigans). It has potential in the mid-game, but the fact that you can’t play it on 1 (as it should be), is a huge bummer. So 2/5 stars.
Myra Rotspring
The only time this card is bonkers is when you discover Sylvanas Windrunner. Otherwise it will feel super clunky, since you probably want a good Deathrattle for this card, and at the same time you want a good card, and rarely are both good. Also, as others said, a shame that the Deathrattle is revealed. Like Fatespinner, it would be nice to hide the Deathrattle. Otherwise, as it is, this should cost 4 mana to be a good card. 1.5/5 stars.
Shrink Ray
To be honest, to me the only real utility of this card is for Control Paladin to be able to run a third Equality. There’s a few situations where this is better than Equality (the enemy has a threatening board of minions and you don’t have Wild Pyro or Consecration), but generally Equality does what this does, and for only 2 mana. Also, making your minions shrink too makes this clunky. With Equality + Consecration you could still output considerable damage from your board, this will reduce that damage. It’s definitely over-costed. Now, since Equality is such a powerful card, I do see Control Pally running one copy of this so they can have an extra Equality for the late game. Rating it 2.5/5 stars, because a third Equality is THAT good.
Eternium Rover
Town Crier is better in any Control deck than this buddy, if of course you have Rush minions (and if you’re Control Warrior, you should, you have some very good Rush minions from Witchwood at your disposal). This guy is only good in the beginning of the game, after that it’s a terrible top deck. This guy will probably only be used as a Megnetize target in a Mech Tempo deck. I don’t see it good enough for Control.
Cosmic Anomaly
Lul what? So just because it’s a class card, it means it deserves a +2/+1 and a highly synergistic tag? Alright, I’ll be wanting a 3 mana 7/3 Beast for Hunter. Ice Rager is a terrible card, so this is not power creep, besides Ice Rager already rotated to Wild. Yes, see me combining Tundra Rhino + this card for pure Smorc enjoyment. I think it’s you who should try again, buddy.
Zerek, Master Cloner
So, if you cast a spell on this, it becomes a better Cairne Bloodhoof, with the possibility of insane value if you resummon it a third time. Otherwise it’s horrible. By the time you drop this, you’ve probably already used at least one Power Word: Shield, probably the two if you drew them early game. So… are you going to Divine Spirit this after dropping it? Unidentified Elixir it? It’s not that Priest has a myriad of buff spells like Paladin has… This also gets horribly countered by silence and transform effects (part of the reason why Cairne sees no play nowadays). I expect this to see play if the synergistic Deathrattle Priest deck gets into the meta, or if you can somehow cheat it out (with the Experimenter maybe?). But otherwise… meh. It’s still “only” a 5/5, in a class that is normally fighting behind in the board… 2/5 stars, it does have potential for shenanigans, but it doesn’t seem powerful right now.
Yeah, I feel ya. Really sad, seems Priest is back to meme-tier.
