10 AM PT (19:00 CET) is the baseline for Hearthstone updates / announcements etc. Sometimes they happen slightly earlier or later, but you get the idea!

In other words, we should see the update ~4.5 hours from now.

In my opinion, this entire year was great compared to last year. Even if not everything worked out perfectly, devs are showing that they want to experiment with new things. 2018 was getting really stale and way too “safe”. Pretty much the only unique thing was Boomsday’s Puzzle Lab (which is IMO the only downside of this year – as much as I like Dungeon Run style of single player content, I would like to see something else).

2+ weeks between expansion’s announcement and reveal season is pretty much standard. But don’t worry, we’ll definitely see some more cards along the way, through blog posts and videos.

He only said that there are some plans for it to happen, it wasn’t anything like official announcement 🙂 When planning that far ahead, you might change your mind along the way.

And he was talking about Standard rotation, which will happen with the first set of 2020. If I had to make a guess, I think that Divine Spirit will just rotate out to Hall of Fame.

More detailed stats has no impact on the gameplay at all. We aren’t taking about in-game stats or anything. Just things like statistics about your win rate etc. available through menu.

It’s something players have been asking for years now in Hearthstone, by the way – to show players their win rate with each Hero, against different classes, how many games they’ve played in total and so on. And something like that will get introduced to Battlegrounds. Again, no impact on the game itself, but something that might encourage people to buy more packs.

And yeah, that’s their point I think. They want to encourage people who don’t play HS to start and buy packs in order to get those bonuses. And that’s fair IMO, but only as long as they keep bonuses relatively small and when they have no impact on gameplay. We don’t want people who play regular HS to have a higher chance to win than those who only play Battlegrounds.

I didn’t really find it confusing, but I get what you mean. When talking about tier lists, Tier 1 is usually the best, while T2, T3 etc. are worse. But Tier can also mean “level” – so it’s only natural that you start at Level 1 and go up to Level 2, Level 3 etc.

But I think that’s for the best here – for me it would be more confusing if you started at Tier 6 and every time you upgrade you went “down” a Tier… it would be weird IMO. And what about starts next to minions? T6 should have 6 stars and then go down to 1 star? The way I see it, that would suggest a downgrade. But if Tier 6 had 1 start, Tier 5 had 2 stars etc. it would also look weird and not obvious.

Gaming nomenclature can be weird at times, eh.

Auto Chess name doesn’t have anything to do with Karazhan or Hearthstone, though…

Auto Chess was the name of Dota 2 mod, which started the popularity of Auto Battlers genre. It was called Auto Chess, because combat took place on arenas resembling chess board and characters fighting were the “chess pieces”.

Again, it had nothing to do with Karazhan’s Chess encounter. There are basically no similarities between Chess encounter and Dota Auto Chess (besides both of them referencing actual Chess).

But yes, I also remember quite similar “auto battler” W3 mods back in the day – although they never really took off the way Auto Chess did, so it’s fair to say that Auto Chess is the game that really started this genre.

The upgrades are more detailed stats, emotes and being able to choose from 3 instead of 2 Heroes at the start of each game. You also need only 30 packs to unlock them all.

I wouldn’t call that P2W, the only thing that you could technically call P2W is that you can only choose from 2 Heroes. But that’s only if you assume that they aren’t balanced correctly (then you have a lower chance to get one of the strongest Heroes). Realistically, I don’t think it’s going to impact the game in any meaningful way.

Because she’s Chinese. They generally have their own tournaments / leagues and don’t compete in stuff like Master Tours, Grandmasters etc.

2 NA, 2 EU and 2 APAC players in Global Finals were qualified through Grandmasters – Chinese players got through Gold Series, which is their own competitive league 🙂

Five Galkarond Hero cards will be “extra” cards given out to everyone for free, so they won’t count for the usual 2 Legendary / class limit. It will also push the total amount of cards in the set from 135 to 140.

It was confirmed by HS designer Puffinplays today 🙂

Actually, I will do card reviews 🙂 It’s just that I was busy with handling all of the BlizzCon news and updating stuff so far. But I should be able to finish it early next week.

As it turns out, the three spells shown yesterday were just examples! I’ve updated the post with a list of all 9 spells you will be able to Discover from. It makes the card even more flexible, but less consistent.

Thanks for explaining – I’ve only caught a glimpse of the game, because I was so busy yesterday with other things. But I’ll definitely play the hell out of it on Tuesday!

By “in HS client” I mean that it won’t be a separate game, you will first have to launch Hearthstone and then pick the mode. There will be now a new button called “Modes”, which will have two – Aren and Battlegrounds (Tavern Brawl will still be a separate button in main menu). Which might also suggest that they plan to add more modes in the future (something I would love to see).

And I don’t see any reasons why it shouldn’t be available on mobile 🙂
