People who scoff at this: do you know how many high cost legendaries there are? Quite a bunch. This pairs nicely with Mutate to maybe put a 9 or 10 drop on board by Turn 5. And that’s considering you don’t high roll into a Legendary with a great battlecry like Alexstrasza and get even more value. What probably keeps this from being good enough (or at least as good as Fleshshaper) is that it’s a horrible topdeck and also that you can’t predict what you will get by turn 5. You can get a high cost Legendary or a low cost Legendary. And if you get a low cost legendary then you have to wait for a turn to combo with Mutate. Traditionally cards that transform with turns have been bad because you can’t predict well with them.
Dragoncaster
Well this card is kind of admitting that Inkmaster Zolia was a crap card. I think this is pretty playable in Highlander Mage. Being able to 6 mana Flamestrike and put a 4/4 on the board for two cards is close to a Lord Godfrey, and that is a great card.
Bad Luck Albatross
Weasel Tunneler is back, boys. Except it actually looks good as a tech card vs Highlander. I think it’s an above average 3-drop, Beast tag included.
Chenvaala
Dragon Soul was bad. This doesn’t look much better. I’m not sure you’d even want it in Cyclone Mage.
Diving Gryphon
Shadowbolt that draws a card and can get tutored with Master’s Call seems pretty good to me
Sanctuary
I don’t think it works that way. If it does, it would be giving Paladin a 2 mana 3/6 Taunt with no downsides, which would be ridiculous. Pretty sure you have to go through a whole turn (i.e. your opponent will have a chance to hurt you in their turn before this activates). I’m now thinking it can be pretty good vs classes like Priest. If you’re on the play and they didn’t play a 1-drop, you playing this on T2 is pretty much guaranteed to be a 2 mana 3/6 Taunt, which is pretty good.
Descent of Dragons Card Review #2 - Breath Cards, Dragon Explorers, Dragonbane, Phase Stalker, Learn Draconic, Toxic Reinforcements and more!
Blizzard: “Elusive” as a keyword would confuse newer players. Also, it’s not 100% correct naming since it can still be targeted by minion battlecries.
Also Blizzard: let’s call this card with that non-keyword “Elusive Drakonid”
Sanctuary
So pretty much a 2 mana 3/6 Taunt when comboed with Time Out! Melikes it for the Holy-Wrath-esque type of Paladin decks. It’s Paladin’s time to shine again.
Crazed Netherwing
I always thought Duskbreaker was OP and needed a nerf. Adding a 3/3 body to a Hellfire was too much IMO. Here you pay 1 extra mana and get a 5/5. Sure, you need dragons, so what? If a Dragon Warlock exists, this will be one of the OP cards in that deck. Just like we had in Dragon Priests in the previous rotation.
Necrium Apothecary
So Myra Rotspring but actually playable? I want my Legendary Dust back, k thx. 🙂
Most Impactful Doom in the Tomb Wild Event Cards
That’s not a bad idea but the problem is it can be heavily exploited. Just imagine Shamans evolving their high-drops into a guaranteed big 10-mana Hexproof minion, or Zoo-like archetypes being able to play a Sea Giant with Hexproof and pretty much winning on the spot.
Most Impactful Doom in the Tomb Wild Event Cards
I think putting back Ragnaros and Sylvanas was fine. They’re powerful, but not as powerful as back in the day. Evolve would be fine if Desert Hare wasn’t around. Thaurissan… Mixed feelings. I love that it enables all sorts of combos. But yes it feels very hopeless to be on the other end. N’Zoth was obviously a mistake, especially with Kartut Defender in Standard. It reminds me of the flooding of Void Daddys that Bloodreaver Gul’dan brought back when played, and now it’s available to every class.
Doom in the Tomb Hallow's End Event - 23 Wild Cards Go Back to Standard, Dual Class Arena, Free Packs, Legendary Quests, Unique Tavern Brawls - Coming October 8!
Warlock gets Renounce Darkness, a meme card, and another card for the boring Zoo archetype. So many other classes get cards to revive old archetypes, but slow Warlocks will continue to be bad.
Anubisath Defender
Lol that’s true. Is there a meaning behind it? Mine is because I like languages (glossa means language in Greek, Lang goes for language). And I tried making it a mix of Glossa and Gosu (“skilled” in Korean).
23 Wild Cards Coming Back to Standard Temporarily, New Portraits For 1000 Wins, More Events, Search & Quest Improvements
Wow some positive changes indeed! Glad they’re trying to bring something new to the game. I always wanted to play Dungeon Run style Hearthstone vs other people. Hope it becomes a permanent mode sometime!
Hearthstone Legendaries You Can "Safely" Disenchant - Ashes of Outland - May 2020
Saviors of Uldum has some really good legendaries, proof is that only 4 made it here as disenchant candidates.
I think some Quests should be reworked, though. It’s insulting that a Druid can reliably complete his quest by turn 4/5 without even playing a card and Mage and Warlock have to do weird shenanigans to complete their quests. Also, some rewards are really a joke. Ideally rewards should synergize with your quest, just like Paladin Quest, or Hunter Quest, for example. But no, Mage and Warlock have rewards that are actually pretty dumb (Mage: I have to run tons of spells to complete the quest, what do I get? More spells??? An ideal reward here would be a passive hero Power that summons a minion of the same cost of a spell you cast. Warlock: I have to draw tons of cards to complete the quest, what do I get? A discount on the few cards I have remaining in my deck??? Seriously? Why not a passive Hero Power that reads: “Whenever you draw a card, deal 1 damage to your opponent, and restore 1 Health to your hero. Upgrades with each card drawn”?
What Are the Implications of the Recent Discover Mechanic Changes?
Hey Stonekeep! So I was advocating that Discover should reveal the chosen option to the opponent so that they at least know what to play around. You said that was a considerable nerf and that Blizzard would never do that because they would have to give dust to everyone for every Discover card. … And now they nerf Discover to not give bonus to class cards! I believe this is an equivalent nerf (i.e. just a slight nerf, not a big one), and yet Blizzard is not giving anything! We should fight for Discover revealing the choice to the opponent!
I had actually not thought about that. That’s indeed disappointing.
