Rastakhan Post 2nd Nerf Deck Lists Roundup - Top Legend Decks for the Post 2nd Nerf Rastakhan Meta
If you’re getting 30% or less win-rate at rank 20 on the ladder… you probably want to rethink your deck; review the decks you regularly play against, work out why you lose and try and patch the weaknesses…
Though if you’re playing for the deck building/fun aspect, maybe climbing the ladder just isn’t for you. Laddering is basically a net-deck grind; most people don’t have the collection/time (or possibly ingenuity) to experiment with crafting a meta-beating deck from scratch so they’ll leave that to those that do, then copy their decks – that way they know which specific cards they need to climb, and thus a new meta evolves.
I enjoy deck-building so I generally roll my own – but I’ve only had a couple of meta-breaking successes and never hit Legend (I’m not that good in all honesty). Most of the time though I either play Wild or casual – it’s more varied.
Upcoming Balance Update - Nerfs to Cold Blood, Flametongue Totem, Equality, Hunter's Mark and Lesser Emerald Spellstone
Ye-es but if you play any variant of Miracle Rogue, the Cold Blood nerf is much more harsh; it’s one of your better card draw plays with the Auctioneer, great if you’re running an old-skool type deck with Questing Adventurer (+5/+1 on the QA) and probably your biggest win condition with Leroy.
It’s not actually going to be possible to play Leroy plus 3x Cold Blood (using Valeera the Hollow) any more, let alone Leroy, 3x Cold Blood AND Eviscerate. Maximum spike damage, in that case, is reduced from 22 to 14 (without Preparation).
On the plus side – Cold Blood is now Skulking Geist proof I guess.
C'Thun Rogue
I’d be tempted to sub Brann for the totem now… you normally have to play Bran on the same turn you want to double-up your battlecries, whereas it’s fairly safe to drop the totem the turn before as it’s got stealth.
It’s a little more risky with Vek’lor mind as you can’t drop the totem and Vek’lor on the same turn.
Holy Wrath Paladin Deck List Guide - Rastakhan's Rumble - February 2019
If you play Wild and have Thaurissan and Beardo already, Uther is a good craft even if he does rotate out of standard soon; it gives you the option for OTK silliness in Wild, playing all 4 horsemen on the same turn (hint: bananas).
If not, you could try a Control Warlock to beat Holy Wrath paladins – combo decks are quite vulnerable to Gnomeferatu and Demonic Project (even Howlfiend -> Treachery (-> Defile) if you want to try something silly) … problem with Control Warlock though is you’re likely to have a bad time against Hybrid Hunter.
Ranked Play Update β A Faster Climb
I think it depends a lot on your “local meta” and how well you can adapt … from 20 – 15 this month I had around an 86% win-rate using a home-brewed OTK Paladin… hit rank 15 and suddenly hit a huge number of Mecha’thun Druids; in which case it’s entirely a race to see who can draw through their deck first – and if they drop auctioneer early enough, it’s game over.
Got to rank 13 and just under 60% win rate and, yeah, that’ll do π
Hearthstone Epic Crafting Guide (Standard) - Scholomance Academy - September 2020
Ah – my bad, reading comprehension fail … ignore me π
Hearthstone Epic Crafting Guide (Standard) - Scholomance Academy - September 2020
“Spreading Plague vs big boards. I think itβs the Classic Epic that EVERYONE should get” …. ummmm, Classic?
Secret (Hybrid) Hunter Deck List Guide - Rastakhan's Rumble - March 2019
Hybrid Hunter makes more sense to my mind anyway π
It’s a swine to play against whatever you call it, it can have a really strong start with Mole -> Razermaw, or Hyaena and the Springpaws – or it could have a good midrange with the spellstone – which makes it hard to know what to mulligan for. Not to mention there’s also a late-game bomb with Zul’jin or infinite value with the Death Knight…
Freezing Trap and Wandering Monster help control the board or potentially debuff a minion (e.g. do you attack before dropping a Spikeridged Steed and risk a Wandering Monster killing your minion – but if you play the Steed first and it’s Freezing Trap … ) while also fuelling the spellstone – and you don’t want that dropped with a Rhino on the board.
In a weird kinda way, I sort of like playing against this deck – it’s beatable (depending on draw of course) but you have to think your way through the game more than most as it’s got so many options available.
Malygos Rogue - Rastakhan Post-Nerf - Legend (J4CKIECHAN)
Generate 3x Malygos via Kobold Illusionist and blow your opponent up with Sinister Strikes basically (play the Illusionist, Preparation -> Necrium Vial, Backstab the Illusionist ideally – gives 3x Maly for 6 mana)… concede against Odd Warrior and possibly Druids.
Other than that it plays pretty much like Maly Miracle Rogue always has done – lots of stall and card draw until you can get Maly out cheap and drop the OTK (used to rely on Thaurissan).
Secret (Hybrid) Hunter Deck List Guide - Rastakhan's Rumble - March 2019
Is this *really* a Secret Hunter deck any more – it runs more beasts than secrets… and the secrets seem to be in there to basically generate more beasts by powering the spellstone. It’s not a million miles off the aggro Beast Hunter decks of old that used to run a few secrets to fuel the Eaglehorn Bow.
Last Week in Hearthstone β January 8th - January 13th, 2019
Except Shaw has better stats and costs less…
Shrink Ray
Been mucking about with a couple of Exodia Paladin builds with Shrink Ray as a one-of; one interaction I hadn’t considered, but actually encountered, was playing against another control-style Paladin when they had Immortal Prelate… Shrink Ray counts as an enchantment played on their Prelate. Which is nice.
Doesn’t help for Lynessa of course.
Wild Card Pack Bundle Available, Wild Open Qualifiers, January Tavern Brawls Will Be Wild
Ooooh – that explains that one then; means this is possibly an even better deal than it initially appears because of the number of legendaries you’re likely to get.
Wild Card Pack Bundle Available, Wild Open Qualifiers, January Tavern Brawls Will Be Wild
If you’ve never opened packs from these sets are you guaranteed legendaries?
Oddly, I have previously opened packs from all of these sets but got lucky and got a legendary for each set anyway… and I spent 100 gold on a Rastakhan’s Rumble pack at the same time and got a legendary there too!
5 legendaries in 41 packs is pretty good.
The Lazy Adventures of Rikkar - What Went Wrong With Rumble Run?
Embrace the random – keep quitting until you get the Rogue Shrine that steals your opponents cards; throw in the ridiculous 8/4 pirate-summoning Shark if you can… and hope for some luck in the match-ups.
I’ve completed the Rumble Run twice – but I’ve beaten ~200 opponents, so that’s a LOT of failed runs along the way, and I would say it was almost entirely down to luck, win or lose.
Of the PVE content, I’m beginning to think Blizzard peaked with the Witchwood; K&C is still fun but I prefer the “unique” characters you play as in the Monster Hunt – Puzzle Labs has no replay value really, but it was properly challenging in a totally non-random way (I had to cheat on 3 and look up the answers IIRC – *ahem*) … completely unlike Hearthstone normally π
How-to Beat High Priest Thekal Guide - Rumble Run - Tips & Tricks, Shrines, Decks, Teammates
Wait – he has shrines *other* than Shirvallah’s Vengeance π
Doesn’t matter when you run into him, that shrine is a nightmare; early game when you’ve got say 15 health he can drop Crystalliser and Emerald Reaver on the first 2 turns leaving you on 3 health before you’ve even had a chance to do anything.
If you meet him later on in the run, when you’ve got more health, you’re likely to face a Bittertide Hydra – if you don’t have hard removal handy, you’re going to have a bad time with that.
Spell Hunter Deck List Guide - Rastakhan's Rumble - March 2019
Might be worth considering dropping 1 Tracking (it’s painful to play 2 and then Zul’jin) and replacing it with Flare – it’s great in the mirror match, breaks stealth on any Spirits in play and is a good card for Zul’jin to re-cast.
Hir'eek, the Bat
Yeah I got this as my free Loa … no, I’ve not been able to make it work yet.
There just aren’t enough reliable ways to buff your hand with Warlock (2 class cards + Arena Fanatic, which is terrible) – and unlike other token decks, Warlock doesn’t have many good ways to flood the board AND buff it effectively – or make it sticky – so the tokens trade badly and you’ve got no Bloodlust/Savage Roar type spells for a big spike in face damage…
Warlock can use cheap minions, or tokens, and sacrifice them to make better things, but that’s never been a terribly successful strategy in Hearthstone (Black in MtG, yes) beyond Nerubian/Devilsaur eggs. There’s nothing really impressive enough to support the sacrifice mechanic; Ravenous Pterrordax is no Demon of Catastrophes.
I had a few problems trialling this deck out…
1: If you don’t get an early Corpsetaker against fast decks, or if it gets silenced, you’re going to have a bad time.
2: The Solarium can often be a dead card if you’ve not drawn any of the three important combo cards.
3: Only 4 (potential) self-harm cards isn’t really enough to reliably boost the Spellstone.
I found the deck a little more reliable with:
-1 Solarium
-2 Novice Engineer
+1 Hellfire
+2 Vulgar Homunculus
It’s a little slower but I found that as soon as your opponent realised you were playing Mecha’thun they’d pretty much ignore your board and go face – I found the swaps improved my survival rate through the early game and made the Spellstones more reliable. YMMV of course.
