Call of the Wild
Have you ever played against a face hunter, ever? It’s always Huffer.
Blood Warriors
Mage loses Echo of Medivh and Warrior gains Echo of Medivh. I’m just waiting for Mage to get Death’s Bite.
Blood of the Ancient One
Notes: Works with Faceless Manipulator and Herald Volazj as additional “copies”. 9/9 body is tough to kill, and being an epic means that you can have your back up copy with Faceless Manipulator to fill in the hole left by the lost copy. The 30/30 it summons will one shot any hero that doesnt have armor, and 30 health makes it near impossible to kill. That being said, it is incredibly slow and there is no guarantee your opponent wont have a counter play to it. A small taunt can stop the Ancient One from hitting face. Only unconditional removal (such as polymorph, execute, deadly shot, shadow word: death, BGH for this guy) can take out the 30/30. Without knowing the nerfs on the classic set, it is hard to say how good a card like this will be in standard.
Hammer of Twilight
It does suck most of the time when you get overloaded, but the point of overload is that you get something super strong earlier than you should, and it also allows you to split up the cost of a card between 2 turns. There are cards that work around overload; cards that get buffs when you get overloaded and a card to remove overload. I think there should be more overload synergy cards because I think it is an interesting mechanic. The only problem with overload is that tunnel trogg is such a degenerate card that giving shaman more strong overload cards just makes aggro shaman better, and we dont need that. The lack of overload may be due to tunnel trogg.
Hammer of Twilight
Harrison Jones is a relatively poor play against this weapon because the opponent would make an up-trade; the 4/2 would trade into a 5/4. Additionally, this weapon is a 4/2 itself, so if the opponent plays another one the next turn, they can just kill your 5/4 and still have the 4/2 to hit face, buff, or use in another trade. Since this is a weapon, it cannot be silenced, so you cannot stop the 4/2 from spawning when the weapon dies; this means that it is a very tricky weapon to kill. One of the huge benefits that can be reaped from this weapon is that weapon-holding it has basically no risk because you don’t have to be worried about losing the attacks if it is killed. This is a 5-mana card that can potentially make 3 trades; that is amazing in a control/midrange deck due to the incredible value.
Hammer of Twilight
Not bad. I think it is in line with the other 4/2 weapons. It is definitely annoying to deal with considering you can’t just use acidic swamp ooze to kill it; you have to do acidic swamp ooze to kill the weapon then still trade. Harrison Jones would not be a recommended card to play against this weapon because Harrison Jones will die to the 4/2 next turn. I think this is a great midrange card. It has a lot of combo potential and it is sticky.
Master of Evolution
I think with Brann it will only trigger once since the minion you originally targeted would not be on the battlefield anymore to be transformed. If it randomly targeted a friendly minion, it could potentially trigger twice.
Vilefin Inquisitor
Justicar upgrades BASIC hero powers. This would not be a basic hero power, so she doesn’t upgrade it.
Ancient Harbinger
This is actually a great enabler card for Old God decks; C’thun in C’thun decks is the target game-ending card, so it is very important to draw it. Yeah, the stats are underwhelming for a 6-drop, and it’s effect may go off only at the start of your turn. However, on a minion like this, the health should really be the big thing you’re concerned about. Being 6 health means that it survives most removal except for Fireball. Another key thing to note is that it has 4 attack. 4 attack means that it is safe from priest’s shadow words and big game hunter. It should also be noted that it is going to be a big target for your opponent, essentially giving it taunt; your opponent wouldn’t want you to get your C’thun or you will be almost guaranteed a win at 10 mana. This is not necessarily an auto-include in C’thun decks, but it can make it somewhat easier to come across it.
Mark of Y'Shaarj Revealed from Whispers of the Old Gods!
So, this week we will meet Y’shaarj. Week 1 we got C’thun and week 2 we got N’zoth. My guess is that the set will drop sometime in the week of April 10. Either that, or we will get a release date during that week. I say this because by April 10th, if we follow the pattern we’ve been going on, we will finish meeting the 4 gods by that week, so logically that may be the end of reveals and the release of the set or a date. Blizzard seems to like releasing stuff on Tuesdays/Thursdays so I say April 12 or 14 will be the release date/release date announcement. It’s only my guess, so who knows what Blizzard really has planned.
Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale
One thing to be noted:
Yes, it may be essentially a 7/7 for 8, but it can be played on turn 6 and the extra 2/2 is banked. You essentially lose 1/1 for banking the 2/2, but those bananas have synergies with many cards including: Flamewaker, Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Archmage Antonidas, Violet Teacher, Fjola Lightbane, Eyedis Darkbane, Mana Wyrm, Dragonkin Sorcerer, Djinn of Zephyrs, any charge minion, played to activate a Rogue combo card, and much more. It is honestly a really good card for Antonidas decks because it gives you two cheap spells for Antonidas without sacrificing too many slots for cheap spells like mirror image. Also remember, standard will lose a lot of Spare Part-giving cards. In fact, standard loses ALL spare part cards. This card cam help fill in that hole.
I’m not saying this is an amazing but it may have its use in some decks.
Cult Apothecary Revealed from Whispers of the Old Gods!
For Paladin at least, they have Ragnaros, Lightlord as a substitute for Antique Healbot, lol.
Ragnaros, Lightlord
This is Ragnaros “corrupted”; It targets YOUR stuff, HEALS, CAN attack and even its attack amd health are swapped. I honestly think this is a pretty good card. It is an excellent replacement for Antique Healbot. It may cost a bit more, but being an 8/8 body and a reoccuring effect, it is going to be a huge threat. Yeah, it might get BGH’d, but you’ll still get the heal and spare your Ragnaros the Firelord from BGH’s wrath.
Renounce Darkness
I can’t wait to turn my well-thought out Warlock deck into a Druid with 15 moonfires! At least they cost 1 less!
New Card: Faceless Shambler (?) Revealed from Whispers of the Old Gods!
I have to say, this card is very interesting, but I am unsure if it will ser much play over just a Faceless Manipulator. This card, however does have its advantages.
First of all, let’s list some disadvatages:
1) It is vulnerable to silence, and earth shock will always just kill it. If it is silenced, it becomes only a 1/1.
2) It can only copy your own minions, so you need to already have a high stat minion on the field.
3) Without a minion to copy stats from, it is a 4 cost 1/1 with taunt, which is really bad.
Now, some of the benefits:
1) It has taunt, so if you copy a big minion, it will become a giant wall.
2) It copies only stats, not effects. This means you can copy the stats of a minion with a temporary stat boost from cards such as Dark Iron Dwarf, Power Overwhelming, Ysera’s Nightmare, etc. and not gain the negative effects. For example, this means you can give another minion +8/+8 with two Power Overwhelmings and then copy the stats with Faceless Shambler and you would get at least an 8/9 with taunt, but Shambler won’t die from the side effects of Power Overwhelming.
3) Faceless Shambler is only 4 mana, compared to Faceless Manipulator’s 5 mana cost.
Hearthstone Disenchanting and Card Crafting Guide by TacoRocco
Paladin is probably one of the classes that benefits the most! Getting 2 1/1s may not seem good at first, but remember you can do that every turn. After a while, you will have more 1/1 minions than your opponent can handle, and they can be used in trades to save better minions, be buffed by stat changing cards, and can be used to slowly wither away at your opponent’s health. Midrange Paladin is my deck of choice on ladder, and I have to say that I have won many, many games by Justicar.
People are so pessimistic about the opportunity of being hit in the face with damage spells. Your opponent has an equal chance to get hit hard by damage spells. Also, remember there are a lot of board clear cards, drawing cards, discover cards. Analysis would need to be done to see what the odds of getting certain types of spells are.
