For everyone talking about Malygos Mage, remember that you can’t have drawn it. Might be something you can slot into a different strategy that uses this card just in case, but no, Malygos Mage isn’t a thing now.
Seaforium Bomber
This is exactly the kind of mad science card I want to see! Is it any good? I honestly have no clue. Definitely one to look out for though, I wouldn’t be shocked to see it make a competitive deck at some point.
Void Analyst
Don’t think it’s worth giving up Keleseth for. If you DO want to play 2-drops in your Zoo deck, why wouldn’t you use Vulgar Homunculus? You know, the Demon that you’re getting out of your hand in addition to the Demons you’re getting out of your hand on turn 1. How many buffs is this realistically going to land? Maybe 2 if you really build around it? Not seeing this card.
The Soularium
This card is…boring. Pretty strong and will definitely see play in Zoo, but man, what a dull Legendary spell debut.
The Soularium
Nah, you’ll just use this in Zoo, Discardlock is bad entirely because the reward from the quest is bad. Cataclysm already made the quest reasonable to complete, and… the deck still sucks.
Dreampetal Florist
I…don’t get it. I really don’t. This and Floop make it just stupidly easy to play multiple Malygos copies, they’ve got the best draw in the game by a colossal margin, the can out-armour WARRIOR, the armour class…what’s going on? And more importantly, why on earth do they think anyone’s going to play Treants?
Thunderhead
This is the kind of “whenever you play X” synergy I like, no more gaining +1/+1. That being said…I still am not sure that this has a place in the meta right now. It’s going to be clunky in Even Shaman if no more incentives come out, Shudderwock certainly won’t play it, and Elemental Shaman currently isn’t worth using. Things could change though, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see this make the cut somewhere during its time in Standard.
Cosmic Anomaly
Would be garbage in basically any other class, but Mage has a lot of really cheap things to combo with this. It’s a turn 5 4/3 launch 5 Arcane Missiles, or alternatively Shooting Star for 3. Seems solid, could see it in either tempo or Elemental control. Doesn’t fit in Big Spell Mage at all though.
Shrink Ray
This is EXACTLY the kind of thing Control Paladin is looking for, it stalls out the game for Equality/Consecration and Paladins have historically been desperate for ways to deal with large boards; a 2-card combo really hurts its consistency. Still not convinced it’ll work this expansion, but this is a step in the right direction for sure.
Also seems way too slow and clunky for Odd Paladin, you’ll want to be spending that 5 mana on setting up your own board.
Crystalsmith Kangor
Control Paladin is nowhere NEAR competitive with other control decks right now, and even if it was, raw healing is meaningless against Big Spell Mage, Shudderwock Shaman, etc. The cards released for Paladin so far also haven’t been pushing control at all apart from this. Not too excited, honestly. There’s a world where this is good, and it’s cool that it can be tutored with their new draw spell/Witchwood Piper/Call to Arms/etc, but…still not excited. Healdin hasn’t been good once in the history of Hearthstone.
Boommaster Flark
So…buff them then. Or hell, just Void Ripper for 8. This is “battlecry: deal 8 damage” in an aggressive class. There’s no way in hell it doesn’t see play.
Eureka!
I only really see the purpose of this card in some kind of ultra spell-heavy Control deck, which Shudderwock completely invalidates. You don’t want to use it with smaller minions, and Ancestor’s Call is a better combo enabler. Even IF this spell deck existed, your big payoff is getting to play an 8 or 9 mana card on turn 6. That’s…not bad, but not worth building an entire deck around.
Boommaster Flark
This is a 7 mana 5/5 deal 8 damage that drops 4 synergy-heavy minions into play. This card is fantastic, are people insane?
Crystology
I don’t understand how anyone can possibly call this card bad. Paladin is a class which is always desperate for draw, and this is a 2 mana draw 2. Just a few suggestions for cards they can fish for with this:
– Upgradeable Framebot
– Lynessa Sunsorrow
– Stonehill Defender
– Tar Creeper
– Bolvar, Fireblood (remember Paladin is getting Divine Shield synergy)
-Acolyte of Pain
-Meat Wagon
There’s general “draw because drawing is good,” and there’s also the potential to create consistent combos. This card WILL see a ton of play, bet on it.
Omega Assembly
No, we need to see a lot more. The thing is that Shudderwock already does the anti-aggro approach very well and has complete inevitability, which is a big factor in why Control Warrior is struggling right now. Control Mech Warrior will have to be able to pressure Shamans as well as fend off aggro just as well in order to have a chance. If they CAN do that, then they’ll probably have a presence.
Star Aligner
Requires a huge build-around for probably not enough payoff. Only scenario I can possibly imagine this in is a Big Druid with the quest; you could conceivably either run it in the Devilsaur/Cube deck or as an archetype by itself with bounce effects. Will that be good? Eh…probably not. But not absolutely.
Arcane Intellect values drawing 2 cards at 3 mana, so if you can hit that then Subject 9 is a 2 mana 4/4. Even then, are those really cards that you want to play? Maybe in Hunter, just maybe, it seems to be the class they’re aiming this at the most. Even then, I’m not 100% on this.
