Skull of the Man'ari
Warlock did get arguably _the_ best Death Knight though (which I still haven’t got) and the non-legendary cards in K&C look pretty solid – so I’m not too upset by the lack of great Warlock Legendaries in this expansion.
I guess you could potentially cheat out a Voidlord early.
Unstable Evolution
It’s more selective than Evolve though… you can keep the Flametongue Totem or Earth Elemental as they are while evolving the specific targets you want.
Evolve is incredibly powerful but also kinda risky … this is less powerful but less risky. Seems like a reasonable trade off.
I like the idea of Malygos Miracle Shaman though ๐
Unstable Evolution
Nope – Old Gods rotates out with the first expansion of 2018 …
As does MSG (bye bye Patches and Jades!) and Karazhan (Medivh, Arcane Giants, Firelands Portal and so on).
Leyline Manipulator
That’s a more scary combo than the current Exodia Mage deck as you don’t have to pray that Cabalist’s Tome doesn’t lump you with Greater Arcane Missiles or Glacial Mysteries.
It’s still a 5 or 6 card combo but _should_ be more reliable as you don’t have to build around the conditions imposed by the quest… nice! … or horrible, depending on your perspective ๐
Leyline Manipulator
I’m not convinced you’d want to slot this into an Exodia Mage deck – that has a very specific win condition and you generally do it as one massive series of drops right at the end when the mana cost reduction wouldn’t really be relevant (as the Apprentices do that for you).
However, there’s synergy with Shimmering Tempest in an Elemental Mage deck here and Primordial Glyph is such a good card you might run it anyway – so that’s a potential 4 mana reduction.
Cabalist’s Tome could find a place – extra spells are good, extra spells with mana cost reduction 2 are obviously better. Could fuel a Mana Wyrm if you pull it late or an Arcane Artificer.
Then there’s Sindragosa (the Legendaries drawn when the Frozen Champions die) or even Frozen Clone at a push…
There’s definitely potential here – but even without the synergy to hand you’re not going to be too upset if you have to drop this on the board on turn 4.
Evasion
Played at the right time, this is going to scupper Exodia Mage quite nicely… or Malygos Miracle (though I tend to run Eater of Secrets or Kezan Mystic depending on whether it’s Standard or Wild)… or buys you a turn against Highlander Priest though you’re still quite likely to take 10 damage from Velen + Mind Blast.
Unfortunately you’d need to be a little psychic to know when the OTK is incoming otherwise it’s easy to play around and just buys you a turn while your opponent still holds their killer combo. Still, often with Rogue, one more turn is all you need.
Geosculptor Yip
This has the potential to be fairly sickening in Wild…
In a C’Thun deck – Ancient Shieldbearer on 7 > Yip on 8
In a Control deck any point after dropping Justicar Trueheart
Hell, even in Standard you _might_ consider Bring It On now…
Windshear Stormcaller
Or Wicked Witchdoctor with nonsense like Totemic Might and Primal Fusion – might be possible to get all Totems on turn 4 (with the coin) ready for a T5 Windshear Stormcaller drop.
Totem synergy with Thing From Below and Thunder Bluff Valiant as well, who used to be a staple in mid-range Shaman decks a while back… Dranei Totemcarver still won’t be great though.
Arcane Tyrant
Only for a few months – first expansion of 2018 the Jades rotate out of standard – so that’s Jade Druid dead.
As does Mire Keeper so, with Jade Blossom, that’s 2 ramp cards down which hits Ramp Druid. Not to mention the loss of Y’Shaarj and Deathwing Dragonlord (and to a lesser extent Kun) – which is probably going to kill Big Druid.
Patches the Pirate, Enchanted Raven, Mark of Y’Shaarj and Mark of the Lotus also go which hits Token Druid.
It doesn’t really matter _that_ much that this card could be horrible with the current Druid Archetypes as they’re pretty much all going to be trashed in about 3 months whereas this’ll be around for another 15 months in standard.
Psychic Scream
Well – I’ll be chucking a couple of Ticking Abominations in for lulz then…
Psychic Scream
Early next year in fact – when the first expansion is released – probably around March sometime.
Hungry Ettin
This is also a potential summon from Moonglade Portal…
Unfortunately Moonglade Portal rotates to Wild at the same time as the worst 6 drops it can pull:
– Big-Time Racketeer
– Corrupted Seer
– Moat Lurker
So that means the pool of 6 drops it can draw from won’t be significantly stronger at any point.
Cataclysm
Curious to see what happens with Voidcaller in Wild – if the Deathrattle triggers before the “discard you hand” part of the deal you could destroy everything on the board and drop a free Mal’ganis…
Fal'dorei Strider
Ach – would have helped if I’d moused over the Spider Ambush! card ๐
Arcane Tyrant
Drawn at the wrong time, like really early or just after you’ve had to drop a big spell, it’s going to be awkward, but at the right time it could be really useful…
Meteor on turn 6 to blow up your opponent’s minions and yet get a free 4/4 Elemental – which primes Blazecaller next turn.
It’s a free 4/4 Ellie when you cast Nourish – and if it’s not in your hand it could be one of the 3 you draw.
Sapphire Spellstone on 7 maybe, drop this guy as well so Kalimos is primed next turn.
Fal'dorei Strider
I’m guessing it works like the old Nerubian ambushes and plops them straight on the board – except this time they’re in your deck rather than your opponent’s and it doesn’t cause a card draw.
Fal'dorei Strider
This might even work in Mill Rogue to avoid fatigue and overloaded hands since it shuffles the ambushes into your deck and plonks the Spiders straight into the board.
With Cheat Death and Sonya Shadowdancer there are more ways to give yourself extra Coldlight Oracles as well…
True – you’d just have to hope your opponent screwed up… with only 3 secrets at Rogue’s disposal so far it’s going to be pretty obvious which is in play and make it too easy to play around to be really effective for anything more than just buying a turn.
