Plot Twist
I’m familiar with Wheel of Fortune in MtG, which was more expensive and still copped a ban in most formats.
I think being able to essentially mulligan your hand whenever you need a card is unbelievably strong.
Plot Twist
It’s also worth noting the adorable combo this card has with Betrugg: turn 10 drop Betrugg and play this and rush down the opposing board while filling your hand with minions.
Meme, but still fun.
God I hate Blizzard for making this card.
Plot Twist
This might just be the best Hearthstone card I’ve ever seen. This effect is so strong for control decks because they can essentially fetch whatever removal tool they’re looking for or ditch a really bad hand. It comes at a low cost–I’d honestly play this on 4 or 5 mana if it’s what they released it at.
On top of everything, it’s in Warlock of all classes–the one that already has the best odds to draw whatever it wants. Fetching a Twisting Nether or a Hellfire when you need one is going to be the new control meta.
Nine Lives
Cool card: pairs nicely with Highmane and Spider Bomb. Oblivitron is straight up a losing card if you ever play it; please don’t use this card to justify playing Oblivitron.
Magic Trick
Discovering Ray of Frost with a Sorcerer’s Apprentice on board with this feels pretty good. Could be okay, could be bad. Mage looks interesting with this expansion.
Nozari
The meta would have to be insanely control-heavy for you to be able to throw that much greed in there.
We’ll have to wait and see what else gets introduced for Nozari.
Batterhead
Feels like it’s slightly understatted, but probably the most balanced version of this card. I think an 8 mana 4/12 that can attack indefinitely is too strong and lets classes like Rogue or Druid potentially steamroll as they traditionally don’t have good board clear options.
3/12 is definitely underwhelming, and combos with this card are too greedy. Akali buff on this would be the dream, as would combining this with Cold Blood or Rhino Totem or possibly Inner Rage for Rush Warrior.
Shame–it’s a cool concept. Could take off in the future if it gets the right support/maybe a niche in Rush Warrior with Inner Rage. Probably not though; we’ll see.
Nozari
Yes, but the issue still remains: Paladin needs a compelling reason to heal rather than fight for board and push tempo. So far the only support is Thekal (add 29 to you life total granted you heal back to 30), and a 4/4 (gets +4 and taunt if you’ve healed enough).
Unless they release some kind of card that heavily rewards healing, Nozari is probably only going to be a tool to win late against other control decks; and as mentioned above, dragons like Ysera do that way better.
Catrina Muerte
Ah yes, Blastmaster Boom, from the distant Scandanavian region Bøømtøwn.
Nozari
Either one works better than Nozari. Ysera certainly provides a lot of value for a deck that appreciates it.
Marked Shot
This card I don’t hate. I’m comparing it with Flanking Strike, which I know is an ungodly amount better; HOWEVER, Flanking strike often killed things on curve, and this card does kill things better. It’s a value card rather than a tempo card, but discovering spells to play in Hunter is a bit of a mixed bag because Hunter spells are somewhat underwhelming.
Really wish they’d printed a bit of AoE for Hunter though…
Nozari
Honestly, if you’re looking for a big dragon to enable synergy all game, you’re so much better off with Alexstraza.
I agree with you, this card is super easy to cut if you’re on a budget. Given the cards we’ve seen, I would never craft this.
Nozari
Not that this card is BAD per se, and not that the effect can’t be useful, but I just don’t really see why you’d play it. Heal Pally remains a pipe dream of a meme because there still isn’t any payoff. Paladin’s had more than plenty life gain, and Thekal didn’t exactly move mountains. Giving a turn 10 full heal honestly feels kinda bad considering it’s a 10 mana 4/12 that heals you and doesn’t catch you up at all. If you’re staring down ~15, 20 damage on board, this is a slightly better Time Out, at which point you’re just hoping to top deck a board clear.
I don’t see this seeing play unless they print some serious reason to gain life.
Shadowy Figure
I like this. With Reckless Experimenter, it essentially becomes a 4 mana 4/6+Play Dead. We’re going to need better Deathrattle minions for this to be largely viable, but I could see turn 8 power turns such as Experimenter+Mech Whelp+Shadowy Figure leaving a 4/6 and 2 7/7s in play. You could follow that turn up with a Mass Resurrection and potentially have a relatively sticky board that’s threatening.
That said, this card requires other cards in order to really be effective, as priest really doesn’t want to be tempoing out a 2/2, so this is kinda dead in your hand until you have Deathrattle effects on board.
I’d charitably give it a 3.5/5 for now, but I could see this being a staple in a Deathrattle Rez priest list.
Commander Rhyssa
This feels kinda fair. Double trigger on Eye for an Eye is pretty neat, but so obvious. Works with EFE, Hidden Wisdom, I THINK it summons 2 2/1s for Noble Sac, and obviously the new secret Never Surrender. Stat line is fine though, and you do get a lot of extra value if you play this with like 3 secrets. Don’t really see this card being great right off the bat, but it definitely can age well.
Crystal Stag
I mean using healing on Crystal Power on your minions can be really nice, and you can always restore health via other cards like Zilliax. Being able to combo Crystal Power with the new legendary also lends even more flexibility.
I don’t really see a point on the mana curve where dropping this is bad, assuming you have the conditions met. 5 mana to deal 4 to two minions or 8 to one minion is really strong considering you’re either leaving bodies on your board or you’re clearing the board to recover some tempo. At its worst, it’s a 5 mana 4/4 with rush, which isn’t great, but it’s at least something to impact the board state.
Muckmorpher
This is one of those cards I think will either age really well or it’ll limit what’s available to shaman…
Huge potential, obviously Malygos or Zilliax. It forces you to sort of limit deck building, and I don’t really see a place for it YET; however, tons of high-roll potential in this card and it could be pretty big in the future.
Crystal Stag
This for sure. No overkill conditions, and you don’t need multiple cards in hand to activate the combo. I’d throw Crystal Power in every deck and I’m auto-including this in any deck with Crystal Power as well. This is a massive tempo swing.
Crystal Stag
Two 4/4s with Rush for 5 mana is insane. You only have to restore 5 health, which is easy to do considering your hero power/opponent’s minions will be costing life. Seeing as Crystal Power already looks like you’ll want it in your deck, the preconditions for this card aren’t going to be hard to achieve.
5/5 from me for sure.
Decent stat line if you’re playing for tempo, and a decent effect on top of it. Druid has a bunch of really great spells; the only ones I think you won’t really want are Healing Touch and Stampeding Roar. Getting Swipe or Moonfire are nice, and random Predatory Instincts could be cool if paired with Stag.
4/5 from me on this one. Paladin sure wishes it had this kind of payoff for early heal.
