Cleric of Scales
Incorrect. It’s worded like Master’s Call, which draws even if the all-beast condition isn’t fulfilled. If this made a copy of the spell it would be worded like Shadow Visions, which explicitly states “discover a copy of a spell in your deck.”
Cleric of Scales
Obviously you don’t want to play this in a deck with tons of spells. Not only would the variance on what you’d get be absurd, but you’d also need to run dragons and I’m not sure what the pay-off would be.
But in a creature-based dragon priest… say, oh, a midrange build, this is EXACTLY the kind of thing it wants. Running a few select spells for different situations (Breath of the Infinite, Time Rip, and maybe Silence, Mass Hysteria, or even a healing spell against Face Hunter) alongside all the dragons allows this card to nab exactly what you need in a given situation. Considering midrange priest’s worst matchup is aggro (at least, my build’s was) being able to guarantee drawing a board clear is HUGE. It lets you survive to the midgame where your own bombs and threats start to shine. This is the kind of thing midrange priest needed.
I only have one criticism, and that’s WHY DO THE CHAPTERS HAVE TO BE STAGGERED??? I need all my darling midrange priest cards right this instant because I’m an impatient boi
Aeon Reaver
But that’s the point; the thing Galakrond and other midrange priest strategies need is not a single, archetype-defining all-star. The shell is slightly under the critical mass of good tempo/midrange style cards to function. This one is VERY powerful and brings us one step closer to that critical mass. Will it be the one that reaches it? Possibly, there’s no way to tell until the set comes out. But making predictions about what new archetypes or existing-but-underpowered shells will be viable based only on the merits of one card, instead of how all the cards will interact, isn’t the best way to analyze. I’m not saying midrange priest will be good. There’s a very real chance it’ll be hot garbage. But I’ll still talk about it because that’s the kind of deck that wants this card, and is also the kind of strategy I’ve been trying to make work since Rastakhan’s Rumble.
Aeon Reaver
Flik Skyshiv, the closest comparison to this card, is in NO WAY a control card. She and Aeon Reaver both answer an opponent’s card while adding to your own threats. That is the definition of a midrange card.
Aeon Reaver
Lightbomb was a spell, and 6 mana at that, meaning it was a control card. A single-target Lightbomb is decent removal, and the fact that it comes with a tempo body AND is a dragon is absolutely huge for more board-central priest strategies, which were almost good with the base Descent of Dragons pool and will definitely gain power with this card.
Grand Lackey Erkh
To Galakrond Rogue: We heard you like Lackeys with your Lackeys so we made you this guy so you can have 75% more Lackey per Lackey.
Aeon Reaver
I’m hesitant to believe it’s real simply because we’ve all been conditioned to believe that if Priest gets good cards they have to be for Combo or Res/Control. Not for the EXACT kind of Dragon Midrange I’ve been advocating for since Chronobreaker was spoiled.
I am so unbelievably excited.
The Amazing Reno
Thank heavens someone put it into words. I’m all for memes in mage every once in a while and I’ll definitely be playing this, but can Blizzard get over the fear of another Frost Lich Jaina long enough to realize that Mage needed a far more competitive hero power than this?

Do we have any idea when we’ll be getting more details/reveals?
Chronobreaker
Thoughts on the inevitable Chronobreaker/Duskbreaker comparison:
Pros:
– It only hits enemies
-It has +1/+2 stats from what Duskbreaker had
Cons:
-It’s a deathrattle, not a battlecry
-It costs one more mana
To my eyes, this is a midrange card while duskbreaker leaned towards control. The advantage of this is that it’s not as dead a card against a control matchup: with the bigger stats it’s much more of a threat, and its boardwipe wont sabotage your own board like duskbreaker would, so it won’t sit dead in your hand nearly as much. There’s the added synergy of Wretched Reclaimer (which you’d run in a Midrange priest as its a decent body that can heal your minions at worst and synergize with this and other deathrattles in better scenarios) and Shadowy Figure, which once again you can use with this with zero worries of your own board being destroyed.
So yes, it’s weaker than duskbreaker because of the deathrattle and mana-cost (though being weaker than duskbreaker isn’t horrible because duskbreaker was ridiculously strong), but it also lends itself to a different shell, so THAT’S where the real question of its playability comes in: can a Midrange Dragon priest exist? Playing a dragon/minion package along with invoke cards allows the deck to instantly switch to infinite value against control because of the Priest Galakrond’s hero power. I’m cautiously optimistic.
Kronx Dragonhoof
Man, this is a great promo for the hit new Blizzard show “Gonk and Kronx, Attorneys at Law”

Bazaar Burglary
You don’t even need a dedicated thief rogue deck to play this. you could just do a tempo rogue deck with the burgle package (vendetta, undercity fence, blink fox, hench-clan burglar, the new rush ettin). Yes your turn 1 play is playing this, but you could also save it for combos if you don’t have any burgle cards immediately at hand. And the tempo from that weapon far outstrips what you lose on turn. I’m so excited.
Activate the Obelisk
Yeah if only priest had a zero-cost mass healing card that also combos really well with its best card draw engine
Unfortunately we’ll only have precedent until the next chapter comes out next week, but honestly either option is still solid simply because you’re able to guarantee the spell you want.
