Artwork is fantastic, if this was a portrait in the shop for DK I’d sacrifice virgin gnomes to pay for it.
Effect and stats aren’t too bad either. 3/5, I just wish it were either 4-cost or spend 1-corpse, since like this it can only go down at four mana anyways, but a curve like that might be too good.
The Three Cards That Dominate Castle Nathria - Are Renathal, Theotar, and Denathrius a Problem?
Or the better reason for conceding “they stole back their 60+ Denathrius”. Terrible design for a strategic game where everything relies on one card. Most of my loses in this meta have been along the lines of Imp Locks shit out multiple 6/5, 7/7’s by turn 4 + irritately 1/1 critters that left unanswered also become overstated nonsense followed by resurrected imps given 2/2, surviving all that results in a massive Denathrius that you had barely any time to steal because you were focused on clearly the board. (Sorry, I have Imp-PTSD xD). Same with Hunter decks, you get punished for answering the board, you kill Krush/Hydrolon/Bear and for some reason classes that shouldn’t have resurrect cards…have them?
The Three Cards That Dominate Castle Nathria - Are Renathal, Theotar, and Denathrius a Problem?
Renethal is the least problematic card. I think what people need to understand is that the inconsistently 10-extra cards is frankly worth it when you have archetypes like Imp Lock, Mine Rogue, Aggro DH, and Beast Hunter (which lets face it, is just a mid-range deck that if lucky is high-Aggro with Krush/Hydro/bears each turn from turn five).
Denathrius’s problem is the fact that there is genuinely no drawback to adding him into your deck when he’s going to a dead card for so many turns until he’s buffed for like 20+ damage. Even if you don’t buff him that high, he’s still a 10/10 with instant life steal that against an Aggro dreck they (at this point) probably only have a few low healthed minions on board even the bare minimum of like 5-8 heal would be crucial.
I’ve said my piece about Mad Duke before and I’ll say again. If it weren’t for all decks having Denathrius as a win condition this card would not have seen as much play as he has had. Quests, outside a very select few, are extremely slow in this meta with barely any impact by the time their reward is playable because the game has already been decided. Without Daddy D’s Impact Quests are the only archetypes that rely on a single card to push a win, making Theotar a tech card for a players facing to many Quests. Still unfun when you get your tavis or Dawngrasp or Tamlin stolen but not an instant concede ”he just stole my 60+ Denathrius”.
24.4.3 Balance Update Coming Later This Week, Nerfs to Theotar and Hunter
Not my baby 🙁
Why not nerf Denathrius so that Theotar (or any hard-hand interruption) isn’t mandatory in very non-Aggro deck. Theotar is only seeing so much play because so many decks that run late-game have one win-condition: delay until turn 10, play heavy-swinging/game winning card. If they stopped printing those (or stopped making them neutral) then Theotar would just be a mild annoyance not a counter to nearly 10 decks all featuring Denathrius as endgame.

Not sure yet if I’ll want to replace Sketchy Stranger with this. If the new epic becomes a popular tech (though unlikely outside of wild) it still might be a little slow for thief rogue where you’d want to survive aggro with tempo while trying to find a way into midrange-control.
2.5/5 depending on where the meta actually goes.

I know you agreed, I was just agreeing with you further because I see a lot of people thinking this is will be good and it was nice to see like-minded folk.

For Wild this will no see play at all. Aggro will kill you before you can play him, combo too since most focus uninteractive otk’s like Mecha’Cthun. All control decks viable have Twisting Nethers or Cataclysm, that 9-cost priest spell that I think is called Silence Death, a meme mage can call upon *Poof* HC. If they are big minions over 5 attack (which would be opimtal targets) than DK Anduin has clear too, not to mention Shadow Word: Ruin at his disposal. Rogue are more of a delay tactic but there is vanish and Scabbs and any big minion would be so cost worthy to play again. Neptulon Priest is better off without since it ruins the consistency of summoning either Neptulon or Bloods to summon him. Just my take.
The Jailer
The only full board clear we have in the game (standard, not wild) is brawl (which leaves one minion alive which you hope is your own) or Whirlpool, meaning Quest/Thief Priest becomes an archetype we’ll see more often if this does in fact see play and becomes too frequent on ladder.
Another Legendary Hearthstone Quest Released - "Scene of a Murder" - Get A Free Castle Nathria Pack
Is this supposed to replace any solo content; a quest once per week to with no warning to give the feel of a mystery? I wouldn’t mind since I’ve only opened about 12 packs.
A New Castle Nathria Legendary Quest Was Just Added To Players' Logs And We Don't Know Why
I knew I was going to get a legendary soon, even though my last in CN was 4 packs ago because my luck with legendaries has been absurd (It’s like they’re not afraid of being dusted anymore since my vow to never again dust a class legendary) it still feels so utterly disheartening getting Remornia in the state warrior is it.
Shop Update: Constructed Bundles, Battlegrounds Emotes & Strike
Guess I’ll just keep trying to see when Demon Hunter jumps from 20 to 21+ and hope that one of them is portrait + 5 pack bundle like the last Kurtus one. Sucks that right now my class priority is to DH else I’d get the Baron since Vashj portraits are incredibly gorgeous minus the AoO pre-order.

Curious to see the interaction between Prestor and this. The cards themselves have always been there but the minions weren’t so does it do nothing or eradicate their deck turn 7-8 depending on when Prestor is played
