The HCT 2019 World Championship, the biggest Hearthstone tournament of the year, will take place this April in Taipei, where 16 exceptional players from around the globe will come together to duel not only for the title of World Champion, but for their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. Four groups of four players will compete in a dual-tournament format until only eight remain, at which point the competition will shift to a single-elimination bracket.
There are many reasons to watch the Hearthstone World Championship this year. It’s the last event ever for the Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT), marking the beginning of a new era for the competitive scene. Additionally, the HCT 2019 World Championship will be the first major event in a post-rotation world, meaning that we’ll see new and creative strategies unfold in real time on the grandest stage Hearthstone has seen since Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin was crowned as the last World Champion in Amsterdam in January 2018.
While Tom won’t be competing this year, the HCT 2019 World Championship has followed him back to his home turf, taking place at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. Taipei time, with the broadcast starting an hour later. You can find the daily schedule below:
- April 25 – Group Stage: Groups A & B – Group and Winner Matches
- April 26 – Group Stage: Groups C & D – Group and Winner Matches
- April 27 – Elimination and Decider Matches
- April 28 – Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Finals
This World Championship has been a long time coming, and we’re excited to invite you to attend live and in person. Tickets are on sale now, and are sold by the day. All attendees who purchase a ticket and check in on site will receive the Thrill of Victory card back, which will be awarded to registered Blizzard Battle.net accounts once the HCT World Championship concludes.*

From the post.
I did edit the passage at the top, because I was just summarizing. I didn’t think that people will go ahead and buy tickets without a way to participate. But I’m pretty sure that you should still be able to refund it.
I saw what you said at the top and immediately bought a ticket for 6.50, and after I bought it it said that I need to check in on site to get the card back.
Nothing said anything about that prior to buying the ticket either
I will buy a ticket just for the cardback…
If I understand correctly, you also need to ‘check in on site’. Whatever that means, but I guess you’d actually have to be there.
I didn’t realize that. I’ll check it out! Tkx for the warning!
6.5$ for a cardback ?
I guess Blizzard’s decisions concerning stuff prices are right, if there are a lot of people like you …
A cardback and an invite to play the “Hearthstone Masters Qualifier tournament” for 6.5$ seems a good deal to me!
But you’re right, if the game had some kind of achievments and cosmetic items for sale i would spend some dollars with it !!!
