Blizzard has just published a short video guide for the upcoming new game mode – Mercenaries. It describes what the mode is and the basics of how it’s played. It seems like they really took the fact that people didn’t like the initial presentation to the heart and try their best to get as many players as possible interested. I would assume that they will upload more similar videos to showcase it.
Remember that the new game mode launches next week – on October 12. We’ll be releasing a lot of Mercenaries-related content after the mode’s release, but the long-term support from our side will obviously depend on how popular the mode will be.
In the meantime, you can check out the video here:
The real intro video for Mercenaries. xD
Is there any news on the possible strain on performance for mobile users?
Since they’re cramming this all (again) intonthe same client I am quite worried.
I play HS out of nostalgia for MtG, and lik it as a cheap (yes compared to Mtg Hs is cheap) alternative. So I don’t care for other kinds of games like autobattlers or gacha sinks.
I notice that the card game is getting more and more laggy, and I get many crahes lately. Did they communicate on improving performance?
Since they allocated most (if not all) resources into making this mode, bugs still roam free in every mode since months ago and they did little to fix it.
And to answer your question, nope. No news about any performance whatsoever on mobiles, although, one can predict, an update this huge will have impacts nonetheless. And maybe stays like that for sometime, because even if the mode is done, most of those devs must be either taking a break from it, or continue adding new things.
You can expect bugs in every new things. Even each new expansion, BG and Duels suffers from it when they launched. If you know Blizzard at all, they never playtested anything, because they save a lot of time and effort letting the players find the bugs themselves.
Fair enough, after watching the guide, I think Mercenaries deserves a second shot of comment.
Aaaand, it’s already looks boring. I’m not even gonna criticize the fact that this is too late.
Honestly. I’m saying this with the positive attitude, but I still can’t find any interest. Points being:
1. Battle board too empty. The village too. I think it’s gonna need improvements over time. As it is now, It’s bland.
2. If it’s about RNG factor, then battleground still has the upper hand. The only addition is to find combo and leveling up.
3. I don’t know about others, but I found it gonna waste a lot of time learning 30-ish merc skills and combos, where I can just jump to other mode and play. Not everyone has free time that much.
My problem is we are being asked to by bundles without knowing what the cards actually do.
doh! I mean buy.
Can’t I know the lich kings and Diablo’s abilities before I decide to buy one or more?
Totally agree. I really want Diablo, but I can’t tell if he fits my play style.
We’ve released a guide with full list of Mercs + their abilities/items etc. It should make the decision a bit easier.
Still, it’s something Blizzard should do themselves when asking for people’s money from pre-orders.
Still looks quite confusing. Probably won’t be a mode for me (not claiming that it has to).
True, but there’s a long introduction section/tutorial when you first launch the game mode. Since it’s free I think that it will be worth trying – you should more or less know whether you like it or not after the tutorial.
Oh, I’ll try it for sure – they’ll probably hand out lots of stuff for the other game modes, too, just to get us to at least try it. 😀
