A new Warcraft mobile game is set to be revealed next Tuesday, May 3, at 10 AM PDT (19:00 CEST). While I’m sure that not all of you are fans of mobile games (even though Hearthstone is a mobile game, it also has a PC client and many of you probably play exclusively on that platform), I think that it’s going to be pretty interesting, I really wonder what it’s going to be.
One thing to keep in mind is that many of the Hearthstone devs have left Team 5 and moved to another project at Blizzard over the years – starting with Mike Donais and Peter Whalen over two years ago. The most recent move was Hearthstone’s game director – Ben Lee, who announced it just a couple of months ago. And I have some suspicions that this mobile Warcraft game might be that project. If yes, then I wonder what the Hearthstone designers have prepared for us. If not, it means that there’s yet another secret project at Blizzard.
Anyway, I’ll probably cover the game’s reveal here – and if it will be interesting enough, I might write about it every now and then. Let’s just hope it’s not some P2W gacha cash grab.

The guys who moved recently probably moved to the survival game that blizz announced they are hiring for.
I’m not so sure. They only revealed that they’re hiring for world building and design for the survival game project like 3 months ago, and first Hearthstone devs left over 2 years ago.
Plus Ben Lee left after the survival game was already revealed and he still said that he leaves for an unannounced project (but I could KIND OF see still calling it an unannounced project).
Yeah I’ve been referring to ben lee and anyone who might have changed teams within blizzard during that time in my original comment. They probably sourced that project’s director roles internally like that and made the hiring announcement to source the technical roles
Yeah, timing with Ben Lee would make sense, but my point was that I don’t think they would need designers as early as 2 years before they started hiring someone to create the game’s world. Because what would they actually even design for 2 whole years?
But you might be right, we’ll probably find out soon enough.
