C'thun Control Warrior - Dmoney - The Barrens
So terribly slow, bad, besides any meta matchup, I can’t remember when I last commented on a deck but this was so bad it was worth the warning
Ashes of Outland Early Meta Decks - Hearthstone Pro & Streamer Legend Deck Lists, Deck Ideas, Decks for All Classes!
Well, don’t know about you guys but despite the changes my drop luck was really bad (and I correctly guessed I would get Al’ar as my free golden… damnit). But anyway, tried to buy more, shop still shows the pre-orders. Same for anyone else?
Aggro Rogue - MrYagut - Galakrond's HoF
Same old aggro rogue story. If it doesn’t align you’re dead. And some matchups are really really hard. Hunter currently feels a lot more like the class to play for this type of aggression in my opinion
Upcoming Balance Update - May 22 - Nerfs To Archivist Elysiana, EVIL Miscreant, Preparation and Raiding Party
Hey, you’re right about that. Lackey was a stupid idea, I was kinda just “typing it down”. I guess my main point is that I usually do not only look at what’s good for the meta but also kind of keep an eye on classic vs. flavor of the month decks that only work due to some broken cards from an expac that is bound to move to wild either way and then maybe even how healthy wild is, even though I technically don’t really play it myself.
So yeah, your points are vaild and I’d definitely not support my own idea about lackey there anymore. Still feelin’ salty overall though lol
Upcoming Balance Update - May 22 - Nerfs To Archivist Elysiana, EVIL Miscreant, Preparation and Raiding Party
Currently rogue is already dropping in popularity and Elysiana is only interesting for control warriors, which often don’t even need the card to go the extra mile against anything but the mirror, so while that nerf is okay, it’s not exactly doing much at all.
However, it is ABSOLUTELY beyond me how anyone could ever say rogue is fine or that this is proportionate in any way.
Whoever thinks that misses that prep has always been the main reason rogue spells are relatively costly. Who would ever want to play the new prep with the old sprint? Or the new cold blood, which was nerfed due to Odd Rogue and also Prep? Or even fan of knives? Invest two cards to do 1 damage to all minions and draw a card for 1 mana? That’s just bad. Arcane explosion is 1 card and 2 mana. It doesn’t draw one card but it also is just one card for 2 mana, so technically it’s better – and it’s still a super bad card nobody would ever run.
Blizzard saying that Prep is run in almost all rogue decks is such a weird reasoning, well obviously, you made a class that’s literally based on combos of cards. Of those cards, prep can always be used as opposed to backstab for example and then weaves in with the flow of the game. Prep was never „0 mana“, it was actually 1 deck slot. For every prep there was one less other card. So yeah, prep may not be the issue itself but its downsides remain, admittedly paired with a slightly worse upside. But the real problem is that all other rogue spells were balanced with Prep for 3 in mind. The only reason this could be a good idea is to address raiding party. However, that card is now 4 mana, too. So prep raiding is 2 mana now. How in the world would a tempo rogue operate on that? Sprint for 5? Assassinate for 3? It’s all just really bad for the class as a whole and in my mind does not address any real problem.
The lackey nerf to 4 is fine but even there it could have been a 2/4. the 4 is only important so it can be removed more easily, so why not keep the typical 6 stats for 3? Combo is already conditional.
And, you know, I don’t wanna sound too whiny although I do admit that it hurts me especially as a rogue main but let’s keep in mind that we still have:
Dr. Boom Mad Genius
Omega Devastator
Conjurer‘s Calling
Khadgar
Zul‘Jin
Elekk
And then a few more. But looking at these it’s just ridiculous that rogue is supposed to be oppressive at the moment, especially so much so that almost all archetypes including the fun ones take an extreme hit for seemingly no reason, as there are quite a few strong classes that can easily beat rogue as is. There’s a reason it dropped to 4th in popularity after all.
Even if these nerfs were good as they are, you just can’t tell me it didn’t flat out destroy rogue in the face of an awfully strong line up of so many broken decks.
Mage meta incoming
Tempo Rogue - Rise of Shadows - #32 Legend (ChaosVLord)
Insane deck, I love it, suits me way better than most other rogues atm
Leaked Image - Rafaam Holding Dalaran Card
Since this turned out to be about the film ads: They are actually pretty much an inconvenience because of the way they’re implemented, too. I don’t even mind supporting you guys by having ads on my screen but I can directly see the notification pop up that “this page uses excessive memory and power” on my Mac which I practically never ever get outside of extremely artisan pages that utilize a million frameworks (like winner pages on awwwards.com or similar). If my Mac was just slow, that would be fine but I am required to go to many very complex pages each day and none show this behavior outside of this one.
And while that’s then technically also not a biggie since it’s just a pop-up warning me about this without much consequence on my computer, data volume on mobile is an issue and worst of all, I have an old iPad that I only use for browsing the web (and thus don’t see the point in upgrading it) and there this performance problem suddenly really shows.
Odd Warrior - Rastakhan 2nd Nerf - #6 Legend (xBlyzes)
Played the version with Leeroy for quite some time when ladder was warped around gallery priest, and that was the first one to introduce cubes iirc. For me, the Direhorn Hatchlings turned out to be the best targets if there were no better ones to copy through faceless. So much so that in some matchups I would actually faceless the cube instead. It just adds a lot of value to the deck in that it causes a cascade of deathrattles that even refill your deck. This not only prevents fatigue but you can keep enemy minions quite busy as well, 6/9 taunt is pretty great as it even survives a trade with a giant or the Lich King – and for only 5 mana it’s a steal. Also a perfect defensive play with equipping Supercollider, which can end up removing threats pretty well but leave some smaller minions up that would eat your armor with chip damage and jeopardize your bigger removal that way.
Miracle Rogue - Rastakhan 2nd Nerf - #45 Legend (Rolle)
You’d be correct but most of the time you will play something after Myra‘s as you wouldn’t play it if you are not actively looking to solve a problem.
If you find yourself having trouble with the auctioneers and Myra together, consider teching in one Academic Espionage. That can stop fatigue quite a bit and still net you disgusting auctioneer turns even after Myra‘s.
Year of the Dragon is Coming To Hearthstone! Hall of Fame Rotation: Baku & Genn (+Synergies), Doomguard, Naturalize, Divine Favor
Now that really set it straight, thank you! Like you, I definitely think it was worth to invest that small amount to upgrade to a golden Doomguard… Stag and Moth, not so much. But that card is a classic in the actual sense of the word, I just had to. Thanks for the advice!
Year of the Dragon is Coming To Hearthstone! Hall of Fame Rotation: Baku & Genn (+Synergies), Doomguard, Naturalize, Divine Favor
This is incredible, wow, thank you! That’s just insane!
Year of the Dragon is Coming To Hearthstone! Hall of Fame Rotation: Baku & Genn (+Synergies), Doomguard, Naturalize, Divine Favor
…and thinking about it, does this mean that we can now use dust to craft any of these in gold and just get it back and keep the card once rotation hits? So it’s technically a free craft as long as I can do in the meantime without the dust?
Year of the Dragon is Coming To Hearthstone! Hall of Fame Rotation: Baku & Genn (+Synergies), Doomguard, Naturalize, Divine Favor
I feel like I won the lottery if I interpret this correctly. I was super lucky here because I opened these in the last two years:
1x Golden Genn (3200)
1x Golden Baku (3200)
1x Golden Moth / 1x Moth (1600 / 400)
2x Stag (2x 400)
2x Golden Cat (2x 400)
2x Golden Nat (2x 400)
1x Golden DG / 1x DG (800 / 100)
1x Golden Eel / 1x Eel (800 / 100)
2x Divine Favor (2x 100)
Does this really mean I get to keep ALL of them and still get 12.800 dust just like that?!
Quest Priest - Rastakhan Post-Nerf - Top 40 Legend (Zetalot) - Updated
Gotta go with this guy’s take here, the deck above is fun and I don’t think one shouldn’t play it, it’s just that the deck struggles badly against Warrior (who I met on ladder quite often recently) without Benedictus to buy time (= cards = ammo). Zetalot’s Mind Blast OTK Quest Priest is more fun in the long run and offers a bit more complex gameplay that proves to be a bit more versatile here and there but can also screw you over I think. However, it’s still super hard to play, so I have a better winrate with the recent Mind Blast Priest personally (so the standard one with no quest, no Benedictus, no Velen)
Of all those, the Zetalot one feels the freshest though and I have to come back to it!
How Viper Broke the Mold with Peanut Shaman
It’s funny because this deck used to be around, I actually found it on this very page and played it about a week ago. However, I didn’t really think it’s necessarily a ladder deck as well.
However, to anyone who can give it a spin and who is interested I recommend trying it with two unstable evolutions. It’s awesome with Zentimo and Krag’wa. May not be most competitive but the V A L U E
Even Paladin - Rastakhan Post-Nerf - #10 Legend (Offerrall)
You could actually try the Immortal Prelate in this one. 2 Mana and keeps enchantments, so since you’re already running 2 Steeds and 2 Blessings it’s kind of like a cheap Lynessa that provides value by going back into your deck instead of jumping onto your hand. It’s certainly not the same but it at least accomplishes a similar boost in value.
Even Shaman - Rastakhan Post-Nerf - #5 Legend (Zeeland)
In addition, Odd Shaman is easily the worst Hero Power of them all so it’s safe to assume that this deck, which will be affected by the rotation but by far not as much as others, will stay around. And in it, Hagatha is an auto-include and will be one of the only hero cards left in Standard. If you enjoy Shaman at all imo you must have her for all the upcoming decks (…that are foreseeable that is)
Muzzy's Legend Togwaggle Druid - January 2019
Well, it’s a page about competitive decks so good stuff if it works but on the other hand I am starting to be pissed off about the extremely low power level of the last expansion. Is there any deck that seems viable in the long run that contains a single card from RR? Even the nerfed cards are better than the new archetypes apparently.
OTK Exodia Paladin - Rastakhan Post-Nerf - #3 Legend (Charon)
I regularly read the hearthstone pro reports on reddit and a high legend player laid out their thoughts about these 2 different approaches to drawing vs summoning minions with the deck in a very detailed and sensible way. Since I only play CTA I have no way of evaluating their findings yet. In any case there will be enough versions that will experiment, so it’s pretty comfortable for us whichever it’s gonna be.
It does 100% absolute nothing every turn. The win condition is deal 9 damage.
