Oh yeah I see where you’re coming from. I’m not very familiar with the standard meta too much since I play wild 99% of the time.
But my problem with this card lies too in the honorable kill effect. Actually, every card I’ve seen with the honorable kill effect so far I’ve had my doubts on. To me the effect is like overkill, but way more specific.
Vanndar Stormpike
Wow this card is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. You would have to survive until turn 4 AND by some miracle draw this. Yeah okay cool. This would only see play in big decks, but I think it would still not be very good. Big priest doesn’t care about cost reduction of their monsters and also doesn’t want a 4/4 in their res pool, in big warrior you’ll most likely pull this from your deck, big rogue doesn’t even want this card because of kobold illusionist and then there’s big demon hunter that just sucks because there isn’t enough support for it. Great card
Knight-Captain
looks better than the gnome private, but it’s still too expensive for an effect that won’t matter in an aggro meta.
Gnome Private
Cool. This could be pretty good in some aggro deck, but I find it kinda meh. lets say you attack this into a 1/1 what do you get? You kill the 1/1 and this becomes a 3/2. And that’s not very good, especially since this has to wait a turn before attack and your opponent could also damage it for an even worse result. And your opponent is not going to have a 1/1 out most of the time, unless you’re playing against paladin. And in the late game this minion doesn’t really do anything, because even if it exactly kills something, it is likely to go down with it.
Bloodseeker
*Yawn* Well this something. Its a weapon that gives you one more swing and 1 more attack if you exactly kill something. This is pretty bad. You might get the effect off once, but then you have to find a 3 health minion and then a 4 health minion and so on. I feel like there are better weapons to use in hunter than this.
Siphon Mana
Did we really need this? Did we really need more ways to discount spells? We already had incanters flow, but I guess the activation requirement of this card is still pretty specific. But even if you don’t get the honorable kill effect off, it’s still an Arcane spell and quest mage still exists so they will most likely run it.
Lightforged Cariel
I saw this after they revealed the guff hero and thought this card was really lame compared to him, but then I saw the weapon and hero power. Wow. A weapon that makes you take half damage is pretty cool. And that hero power is pretty powerful. But even though this weapon cannot take damage, it can still be destroyed by something like pit viper. And if this hero card sees play, so will pit viper. Which makes this weapon suprisingly underwhelming. The hero power is always good, except when you don’t have any minions in hand. But this card is still 7 mana which is pretty slow, although you do clear the field kind of? I’m not sure if this will see play. The hero power is strong, but its on turn 7 and the weapon helps you survive, but doesn’t help itself. We’ll just have to see.
Wildheart Guff
Oh wow they’ve finally done it. They added a way to increase your maximum mana. And it’s not by 2 or 5 even, no it’s by 10. And they gave it to a class that has a lot of expensive cards and combo cards. Now in standard this will most likely see very little play, due to aggro decks being way better and with even more aggro support in this set revealed, I don’t think this hero is going to see the light of day. But in Wild, where there are a lot more ways to protect yourself from face damage, this could be pretty good. Aviana decks might actually see play again because of this card and they wouldn’t even need celestial allignment, but celestial allignment is pretty good as well, because of the hero power adding mana crystals. And even cards like fandral staghelm could see play with this hero power to gain both benefits. And lastly, combos that were previously impossible due to not having enough mana could also see play now (Even though they would most likely be pretty garbage). So overall a very interesting card,I’m exited to see what decks spawn from this card existing.
Edwin, Defias Kingpin
This is a cool card. I don’t really know what to think of it other than it being a cool card. At worst you’ll have a 4 mana 4/4 that draws 1 card. And at best you’ll draw your entire deck and have an Edwin with at least 20 attack and health that your opponent then ignores as he/she swings for lethal or he/she destroys it if they’re warlock or priest. It could see play or it doesn’t, I don’t really know and I don’t really care, at least I hope I won’t care.
Mr. Smite
Welp, looks like Mr. Smite is now in charge (*Patches cry noises*). On its own, its already a 6 mana 6/5 charge minion, but not only that, its also a tundra rhino for pirates. Great, exactly what we needed to counter the pirate meta, MORE PIRATES! How about I pirate this game and change this effect to: “All your charge minions gain +1 attack”. You can also get this from juggernaut which is very balanced imo and basically guarantees you victory if you get it. What a great addition.
Cookie the Cook
How to make a card that doesn’t synergize with anything, but has the potential to synergize with a lot of things. What a random card. With all the pirates and explosions everywhere, we now get a random legendary murloc that doesn’t fit into the expansion at all, outside of its artwork. Also this card has a pirate hat, but doesn’t have an effect that makes it a pirate or makes all your murlocs also pirates. Also the weapon is 3 mana 2/3 with lifesteal, the same stats as Cookie, does that mean that Cookie himself without the weapon is a 0 mana 0/0?
Goliath, Sneed's Masterpiece
This is the first multi target card in Hearthstone, and it sucks. This card is sadly way to slow and probably won’t see any play. But hey, you can throw it in a russian roullete deck with shudderwock and maddest bomber to make the most gimmick deck in Hearthstone and it only takes 5 blood moons to win one game.
Maddest Bomber
This card is maddingly bad. The only deck I could see this in is some fun russian roullete deck with shudderwock. I don’t even think this would see play in arena. Kinda sad, because I like the artwork and flavour of the card.
Doggie Biscuit
How would the tradeable effect work? Is it random? But it doesn’t say ”random friendly minion’. So can you target something after trading it? How would you cancel that if you traded it accidentally?
Arcane Overflow
Poor flame lance, it’s just getting beat up from every direction with more powercreep. And even the cards that powercreep flame lance don’t see any play.
This hero card is pretty good. Gives 2 rush minions with at least 4 attack if you play it on turn 6. And a hero power that resembles shadow anduin, but not as good. It’s still an amazing hero power though. Definitely a great card.
