What Does the End of Duels Game Mode Tell Us About the Future of Hearthstone?
Interesting, I see that I’m not the only one (just from the small sample of others who commented here) who used to spend money on HS but stopped not so long ago. In my case I just stopped following constructed completelly and I play only BGs now – just because I find it more fun honestly.
I think Twist is a fail exactly for the reason mentioned in the article – who would want to collect all the old cards for playing few times with them?
Mercenaries I think were interesting, but I always felt like there was something missing – probably some better endgame… it felt like never ending leveling with no clear direction, nothing to aim towards.
I’m just hoping they won’t ruin BGs with some stupid monetization tricks (like no option to choose even from 2 heroes unless you have the pass). We’ll see… even though there were some failures, I still kind of like that they are trying new things – sometimes it works out, sometimes not

Yea, that’s what I was thinking… Pirates look very weak without Hogger, Salty Looter and Southsea Strongarm.
Also agree with the Demons – seems like too much health to lose, also Felbat gets a small nerf (affecting only other demons)
On the other hand, I would say that Quilboar look stronger than before with the permanent upgrade to blood gems, but my pick for winner would be Elementals – they generally got some good cards, but what the hell is that new 6 drop which can triple with any Elemental? Does that mean that I have 2 copies of some elemental and then this new 6 drop appears in the shop – I buy it and I get a golden version of the elemental which I previously had twice? Plus it gets divine shield? If yes, then I think it’s incredibly strong, because it will lead to full board of huge divine shield elementals.

Some of those rewards seem to be very strong – I guess their quests should be more difficult to complete, but still. I’m talking about those 2:
Stolen Gold – Left and right most minions golden – any build with Baron would love that. Maybe Macaw as the left most?
Anima Bribe – unless I’m missing something, that looks like Daryl, just much better, because you can also sell your big minions for full value

Skeletal Mage also will be a real deck I guess.
But Druid looks like a clear winner currently

Great, I really like the Irondeep Trogg nerf, that card was stupidly powerful for just 1 mana. All the other changes are nice as well.
Not sure about the buffs if they will actually do anything – obviously the most buffed was mage, but I think it’s still not enough. Quest mage is still probably better option if someone really wants to play mage.
Tavish buff is also interesting, I think that it’s very strong now and probably will be played more

There is easier way (for next upgrades) – if the application doesn’t upgade automatically, open play store on your mobile, go to your account (icon in the top right) and choose manage your applications and devices. From there you can check for upgrades of any of your installed application.
This works for me even if the upgrade is not visible directly

I’m really looking forward to see how balanced will this be. It actually doesn’t seem to me that the legendary Mercenaries are OP… actually in case of Gul’dan I don’t get his Fel bolt ability – why is it plain deal 4 damage at speed 10? Compared to other mercs, this looks like actually the worst ability, right? Maybe legendaries will also scale better?

Honestly I’m also one of those (I think many people) who really underestimated basically all the quests. I thought that the Mage quest would be difficult to complete, but it’s really quite easy and the the deck is very strong.
But I think the most generally underated quest was Demon Hunter – you didn’t mention the deck here, but I think it is actually a thing – it won’t be the best deck in the meta, but it’s certainly much easier to complete the quest than many people thought and it really works

Really nice changes… Btw I tried Sindragosa once alredy and she seems quite good in first few turns, but quite useless in mid and late game when you are actually looking for some specific cards – like for example I roll card I’m looking for with still 2 coins left – in this situation I much rather just sell something and buy the one I need, rather than just freezing it and wasting coins for it to get +1/+1.
Finley I haven’t tried, because he seems really terrible – refreshing tavern or giving +1/+1 randomly? I would choose refresh in like 99% of times.
Bran is really good though, one of the best currently in my opinion.
That Junkbot nerf was seriously needed, I think now it will be much more fun, I’m just not sure about that Floating Watcher – it could make demons too OP, but it depends what tier it will be (I hope it will be 5)
Btw I’m also curious what tier will be the new Murloc King (has to be at least 5 of course, but maybe he will be 6)

Wow all of these are exactly what I think BGs need. For Murlocs I hope they will just create something new which can “grow” during battle phase and match Junkbot in Mechs or Hyena in Beasts.
Only one point I’m not so happy about – that we will get another tribe probably much later than I would hope. I think adding a new tribe (dragons were exactly what I was thinking as well) is I think the most needed change of them all to make the games more varied. Now it really feels like it’s 70% mechs, 20% beasts, 10% demons + others (though hopefully the changes will adjust that and maybe make murlocks viable)

I would do 3 things:
– Remove Mech type from Omega Devastator
– Remove +7 armor ability from Dr. Boom, Mad Genius and make it so that as a battlecry he would give Rush to all mechs in your hand and deck (so not to mechs generated later or summoned due to deathrattles and others)
– Increase cost of Luna’s Pocket Galaxy to 6

I wonder if it can give you a hint about something you couldn’t know yourself… for example:
1. Opponent is at 12 life and you have Mountain Giant in your deck – it is the top card, but you don’t know it, because you still have more cards in deck. Now you play Zephrys with 5 mana left… will he offer Holy Wrath, basically saying: “Play this and you will win” 🙂
2) If you are saying that he doesn’t see my hand, I suppose the same goes for the opponent’s hand, right? For example if I am stabilized with some taunt minions, but have 10 health against mage, would Zephrys offer some heal if opponent has Pyroblast in hand?
Or for example if he offers Mirror Entity, does it mean: “Play this, because your opponent has just one minion in hand and it’s big”?

Yea, I think that’s exactly how it will work, which is why one of those cards will need to be nerfed/changed imo. There can’t be turn 5 OTK with such low requirements and in a priest class, where Silence and many other ways to remove taunts exist.
Standout Rise of Shadows Decks From Day 1
I don’t think it’s broken, but it is certainly very good and seems like everyone knows it and play it (at least around rank 4, 5). That’s why already even in those early decklists we can see even 2x Ooze. It’s btw also great against rogue.
I think the question is now, how to beat warrior – you can’t really hope to beat it with agro I don’t think and with control it’s also quite dificult – best would be some combo deck, but looks like there is no good combo currently.
I think I’m going to try the control shaman next – btw what I’m missing in the posted deck is Omega Mind – nice combo with Hagatha’s Scheme to gain easily 30 life in late game
Yea I like the BG changes, most of them totally make sense, but I’m actually worried about the beasts now – I think the change to Trigore is HUGE even though it may not look like it on first glance. Even now we are all seeing really big amounts of health on Trigore, but it’s fine, because it has much lower attack. When I imagine that from now it will have the same attack as well… I don’t know, but it feels really strong.
By itself it wouln’t probably be a problem that beasts would have one huge minion, but with the buff also to Skyblazer, I think beasts will be really strong now
