Most of the deathrattles today don’t seem to produce any minions for you. There’s moarg forgefiend with +8 armor, lightshower elemental +8 healing, shadowed spirit deal 3 to enemy hero, undying disciple deal 3 to enemy board… not much else that’s good.
So I guess you use this to heal/armor up and clear the enemy board, and then proceed to spend the rest of the game alternating healing yourself and going face with your hero power.
Mass Polymorph
Usually you don’t need to solve the problem for good though, you just need to stall for long enough to bring out the big guns. Also having a bunch of little 1/1s hitting your face is still slightly annoying.
Beaststalker Tavish
Why do all the heroes this expansion feel so lackluster and boring… None of them produce any kind of value generation.
Captain Galvangar
It’s good, but it’s not amazing. If you’re playing control, you won’t be specializing in pushing lots of damage so the 9 damage to face isn’t super important to your game plan.
Sigil of Reckoning
Has some potential for sure. It summons on your turn so your opponent literally can’t react to the demon getting summoned.
This could guarantee that you have an inquisitor on board on turn 6, AND you will have 6 mana to spend on stuff(and you can rush your inquisitor into enemy minions too). That’s pretty insane, honestly.
But asides from inquisitor(and maybe pit commander or void hound) the other demons you could pull from this are honestly pretty meh. Pulling an Antaean? You might as well just play it for the same cost lol. Taintheart Tormenter is mehh, an 8/8 taunt on turn 6.
To make a viable big demon deck with this you’d probably need to cut off some cards.
Rune of the Archmage
True, it could whiff if you pull, say, two iceblood towers for 20 total mana’s worth. Or a mass polymorph onto an empty board, or a random fire sale, etc.
But there’s also a ton of mage damage spells that are guaranteed to be hitting enemies, or discover spells that will add random cards to your hand. Most of the time you will 1) wipe your opponent’s board, 2) add a couple cards to your hand, and 3) deal a couple damage to their face.
Rune of the Archmage
Greaaaattt card, this is an awesome finisher. Main issue is you’ll have to get to 9 mana.
I think this card is a great standalone card. You don’t even need to run this along with iceblood tower honestly. In fact, I think not running iceblood tower would be better, because not running iceblood tower means you can run efficient cheap spells like runed orb and whatnot.
I think this will see play in just about every mage deck except for the most aggro-y. 4.5/5
Mass Polymorph
Hmm. To turn all enemy minions into 1/1 sheep is nearly the same effect as the 1 mana wave of apathy, since it essentially neuters the strength of enemy minions for next turn. Yet this costs 7 times as much mana.
I’d argue that Frost Nova for 3 mana would be better than this too, but of course Frost Nova rotated out.
But overall this card doesn’t feel like it should be worth 7 mana. It’s not bad, but it also feels overpriced somehow. It’s not a horrible pull from Iceblood tower though.
The Lobotomizer
Shank costs 3 mana for a 2/2 though, and you’d need to specifically run poisons in your deck if you wanna run shank.
This costs 2 mana for a 2/2 instead, and can potentially add two decent cards to your hand if you trigger honorable kill.
Honestly not terrible. 3/5 at least.
Cheaty Snobold
This + Snowball fight most likely clears the board, though Cheaty Snobold might get injured and frozen in the process. Still, that’s a 6 mana 2 card combo, not the most efficient.
We’ll need more freeze spells to see this work.

You mean a Rogue aggro deck using this to transition into control after they can’t close off the early game?
Mehh… then just play midrange or something lol.
