Tavern Brawl - Top 2 - Deck Ideas!
yeah it is a shame. I was so embarrassed my first time playing the deck when I tried to coin out a frozen over to combo off and kill a pounce druid that wasnt able to kill me turn 1… whoops. But honestly it’s probably the best deck in the format (and embiggen is up there as well) so I’m not super upset that the matchup is *only* 50/50. Other than that it has a tough time beating decks that play to the board (but don’t draw a ton) actually because you won’t have as much health to work with when you do go off. Like the deck you suggested in your other recent comment would probably also be a good matchup just as a virtue of dealing like 10+ damage to me before I can try to win. Still, a fun thing to do that’s not one of the handful of decks everyone is playing just to get their one win in lol. Cheers

Horn of winter + frozen over has been shockingly effective for me. You basically beat anything that draws cards; even pounce + spread the word if you go first. Also, you deterministically win on turn 5 (going first at least) if they don’t do anything (which is shockingly common because flik skyshiv + counterfeit coin is a thing people are doing). You can potentially fizzle but the odds are very low as long as you remember to mulligan. At least I haven’t fizzled in 10 or so games of playing the deck.

Why enhanced dreadlord? Feels very defeatist. I agree with your assessment that drawing doomguards makes winning a lot harder but it’s still entirely doable (just won one where I topdecked doomguard on turn 1, for instance) but making turn 1 kills more infrequent doesn’t seem like the solution to me. I mean besides playing against people who are just trying to have fun/randomly threw together 30 cards it seems like the meta is to kill turn 1. Hand of guldan feels very needed to churn through your deck, since the way you win if you drew a doomguard is by having a bunch of buffs + reverb. Plus it lets you preserve health in a big way if you are able to discard it.

nah Twig was awful when I posted that what are you on?

Shudderwock shaman is garbage, man. Notice how it is at the very bottom of their tier list? It’s win rate is absolutely horrendous against almost anything. If you want to do well against slower decks, play quest rogue.

It’s okay, but compare it to the other two paladin decks in the meta right now.

You aren’t very convincing. Spiteful preist currently loses about 70% of the time to the most popular decks in the meta.

Twig of the World Tree and Temporus are definitely the worst there. You will almost certainly never use them unless you make a silly meme deck.
Hm I see. Well maybe you have more experience with the format than I do. And maybe I just got a bad view of it because with the deck built this way I would just have to concede on occasion (thus not getting to take a look at their decklist). Soularium is definitely a huge card even though it’s only a 1 of but I agree that I also ended up cutting drain soul and endgame after they weren’t super useful. Hand of guldan is a lot of life, but it’s honestly more or less a fair price for draw 3 (not even considering the synergies). And the fact that you can soulfire to discard soul barrage for lethals meant I very rarely spent too much life from 30 so that I wasn’t able to kill. My “losses to my own deck” were all not finding crane game or finding both doomguards.
