Archivist Elysiana broke control matchups - but they can be repaired
I like the author’s suggestion of a battlecry that stops shuffles, because it means bouncing/shudderwock can’t abuse it. I would suggest something like “Battlecry: Shuffle a copy of your hand into your deck. For the rest of the game, cards cannot be shuffled into your deck.” (It could also copy your starting hand, or shuffle in a few random spells which seems more thematic for an archivist). It would still be a mandatory control card and provide some protection against Bombs, but it doesn’t totally shut down Bombs already in the deck or get bounced/Shudderwocked.
Alternately it could say “Battlecry: Remove all cards from your deck that didn’t begin the game in your deck.” It would have little bearing on fatigue then (it could potentially land you in fatigue faster), but it would be a purely anti-Bomb/Blood tech card. Considerably worse, but at least it would no longer be a must-include in control lists.

I now see that the author meant “6 different deathrattle minions”. However that doesn’t count Goblin Bomb – it should be 7. I still think Mecharoo and Bomb Toss should be cut so that the “worst” result for 9 lives would be Ursatron, Spider Bomb, and Oblivitron (two situational deathrattles and a generically good one). If another 1 cost Mech is needed, Skaterbot could be used instead to help enable instant use of Deathrattles, or the new Shimmerfly for value.

It seems like the write-up for the deck may have been written for a previous iteration of the deck, perhaps, since it mentions that “the deck only plays 6 deathrattle minions” as a point in favor of why Nine Lives should be consistent on hitting Safeguard. In fact the deck plays 13 deathrattle minions, making it look pretty inconsistent. Given that Mecharoo and Goblin Bomb will generally be “bad” hits for Nine lives, Ursatron will usually be a middling result, Spider Bomb and Oblivitron will be situationally powerful, and only really Safeguard and Mechanical Whelp are universally strong, I would say this is not the best shell for Nine Lives. We would either have to accept that Nine Lives is a value card and not a game-breaker in this deck, or we should cut it. If we’re keeping Nine Lives I think Mecharoo and Bomb Toss have to go.
Safeguard
Very comparable to Rotten Applebaum. Costs 1 more mana but instead of 4 healing you get functionally 5 armor. Rotten Applebaum was a good but not great card. That said it didn’t have any tribal synergies – being a Mech is a considerable bonus. In the right deck this is a staple card, 4/5.
Exotic Mountseller
3-cost Beast is oddly specific, but not bad, a couple good hits at that cost (Mostly Mukla; Ironfur Grizzly, Jungle Panther, Ornery Tortoise and Emperor Cobra are good enough as well).
My real question is why is a “Mountseller” a 5/8 minion? So this Mountseller can slay two Chillwind Yetis in single combat? Defeat a Bone Drake and live to tell the tale? The picture appears to be a random townsfolk – I think a bit more attention needs to be paid to matching the look and feel of the card with it’s stats. While the effect is flavorful, the look and feel of this card is not.
That is true, we should add “For the rest of the game cards cannot be shuffled in to your deck” to the second battlecry.
But I like the first better. “Battlecry: Shuffle a copy of your hand into your deck. For the rest of the game, cards cannot be shuffled into your deck.” It provides a smaller amount of deck refill (not replacement) and then prevents future shuffle-ins, for good and for ill. Adding a copy of your hand has been used before without much problem, it encourages a slow and deliberate playstyle that control players enjoy and provides additional decision points for the game.
