Tips for Getting Legend Rank for the First Time
I’ve never reached Legend. I’ve never even reached Rank 5. The highest I’ve gotten is Rank 7, both last month and in March 2016 with Secret Paladin (I’m sorry). I tend to use Tier 1 or Tier 2 decks, though I try to stick with Tier 1.
When would you recommend making any type of tech substitutions to a deck? For example, if I’m playing Midrange Paladin, how many Pirate Warriors or Murloc Paladins would you recommend I play before subbing in Hungry Crab or Golakka Crawler? Or would you recommend just sticking with the deck in its original form?
Burn Mage Deck List Guide (August 2017, Standard) – Season 41
I know the guide says that Elise is not necessary, but is it a recommended craft? I have about 4,800 dust if I disenchant all my duplicates. I’ve been running the deck with an extra Kabal Courier as recommended in the substitutions. Elise is normally the card I’m missing from this and other control decks, such as Priest and Paladin, though I don’t really play those control decks.
Murloc Paladin Deck List Guide - Boomsday - August 2018
As of April 30th, it looks like Machamp removed the Golakka Crawler for a Lay on Hands per his tweet below.

Tempo Storm also shows this deck in their meta snapshot, but Vicious Syndicate shows this list.
I myself removed the Crawler from the deck because it was too inconsistent. I would either have it and not need or it, or need it and not have it. It was rare I got to use it to eat a pirate.
Best Hearthstone Decks - Standard Meta Tier List - The Great Dark Beyond (December 2024)
It appears that the person isn’t clicking on any of the decks and reading the guide. I can see how it may be confusing where it says the player is Stonekeep, but it’s actually another player’s deck and Stonekeep wrote the guide after playing with the deck.
It may be helpful to include the pro player’s name in the deck name, even if there’s a guide. For example, you have a guide for Midrange Murloc Paladin that use’s Machamp’s deck, which is cited in the guide. However, a person wouldn’t know that by browsing this listing. On the flip side, it seems the pro player that created the deck is mentioned in the title of there isn’t a guide, like Feno’s Control Paladin.
It doesn’t matter to me and I’m not sure if others get confused. I would say if it’s never caused confusion before, don’t mess with it.
Keep up the great work! This is my defacto Hearthstone site and point people to it that are looking for guidance.
Tips for Getting Legend Rank for the First Time
Great article! Thanks for taking the time to write it up.
Murloc Paladin Deck List Guide - Boomsday - August 2018
Wickerflame is good against aggro, especially when you need to gain some health. It doesn’t really do much against control, because they can easily handle a 2/2 with divine shield. Using Stonehill Defender, you can pick the best taunt minion for the situation. In control matches or even aggro matches that have gotten to turn 10, it’s great to be able to get another Tirion or Sunkeeper Tarim.
Freeze Mage Deck List Guide (Post Nerf) - Kobolds - March 2018
Great guide! Thanks to you and Evident for everything you do to make Hearthstone Top Decks one of my favorite sites. I’ve been playing Laughing’s build lately and have had pretty good success with it. I also watched Day9 play a bunch of matches to Legend using a similar deck he put his own flavor on. I’m still learning and am not the best Hearthstone player by far. However, it is a great deck that allows me to win against all kinds of other decks.
Tavern Brawl An Ancient Recipe
Looking forward to playing most of these decks because I don’t have the quests or other cards.

Awesome guide as always
Sixalix's Legend Aggro Token Druid Deck List Guide (April 2017, Season 37)
I really enjoy these types of guides
Aggro Pirate Warrior Deck List Guide - Kobolds - February 2018
It’s the responsibility of the site to present all meta decks without bias. Even if you don’t play with the deck, knowing what it consists of is good when you play against it.
Journey to Un'Goro Deck Lists for Day Three - Pro & Streamers
These round ups are great. Thanks for the great work you do with the site.
Thijs' Un'Goro Tempo Elemental Mage (April 2017, Season 37)
Might’ve got it in a pack and figured why not. I happened to get one in a pack and have thrown it into an elemental deck. Only time will tell, but nobody should go out and craft it or any other legendary right now.
wiRer's Un'Goro N'Zoth Control Warrior (April 2017, Season 37)
Remember, Un’Goro has only been out for 2 days. The meta is far from solid and people are still experimenting. This deck list is one that a pro Hearthstone player created and won with. The meta wiRer is facing is probably very different from you. It all depends on server, rank, time of day, etc. Since MSoG, Control Warrior has fallen out of favor. Only the most skilled players have been able to successfully navigate it in this aggro meta.
Hearthstone Journey to Un'Goro Deck Lists - Pro & Streamers
Completely agree. Being for just one turn is fair. I had just interpreted wrong until I actually played it.
Hearthstone Journey to Un'Goro Deck Lists - Pro & Streamers
Was I the only one silly enough to think the Time Warp card obtained from Open the Waygate gave you an extra turn for the rest of the game?
Hearthstone Patch 8.0.0 for Journey to Un'Goro & Year of the Mammoth is Live - Patch Notes
This might sound lazy, but I’m glad that I can hover over my deck to see the number of cards in my hand. Maybe it’s because I play on a tablet. Yeah, let’s go with that.
Hearthstone Beginner's Guide: How-To Build Your Own Deck
I’ve read a few articles explaining how to build your own deck, but this was by far the best and easiest to understand. I’ve been playing Hearthstone for almost 2 and a half years, and I don’t normally both creating my own decks for laddering. The only time I create my own decks is to complete a question. I’ll play those in Casual or Wild. After reading this, I may try to create a deck using the advice given.
Hearthstone Beginner's Guide: Tips for New Hearthstone Players 2017
Excellent article! I’ve been playing since season 3, took a break, started again in season 13 or 14, and have been playing ever since. I normally top out between rank 12 or 10. I found this article helpful as it re-emphasizes things that I sometimes forget about. I look forward to more in this series.
I failed to mention the other changes made. The following are the total changes;
-1 Golakka Crawler, -1 Ivory Knight, -1 Spikeridged Steed
+2 Murloc Tidecallers, +1 Lay on Hands
