Most Underrated Cards From Rastakhan's Rumble
haha i saw Dozing Marksmen in an arena draft recently and thought “what the hell is this?”….. your comment about the card made me laugh.
How good are the nerfed decks? Even Shaman, Odd Rogue and more in the post-nerfs meta
Interesting read.
The low playrate for Shaman is no surprise, even before they got nerfed their playrate was really low for the strength of the deck.
Whenever I feel like playing shaman I prefer to just play it in Wild where it is stronger (and it can be fun to play in a different meta for a while if your feeling bored of standard). Perhaps others feel the same because shaman playrate is much more significant in wild (although it dropped off a lot after the nerfs as well).
I have seen quite a few even pallys at rank 1-3 on the Asia server over the last couple of days. Although I acknowledge that you wrote this article more then a couple of days ago 🙂
I must admit I haven’t even attempted to play any of the nerfed decks which seems to be the pattern as you have pointed out. I prefer to try out new stuff after changes come into effect. I am up to rank 1 at the moment with Rush Warrior which i really didn’t expect to go far with.
Tavern Brawl - Brawl of Champions: Round Two
The text is just copied from the game…..
Rastakhan Odd Warrior - Post Nerf - #53 Legend (Skambo)
I was thinking the same but unsure if it’s needed, could easily replace faceless or war axe if you really wanted to put it in.
Rumble Run Guide - Shrines List, Passives, Teammates, Tips & Tricks
seems to be the same thing with anything that tries to put the shrine into your hand or deck. e.g. when dream (from Ysera) is cast on shrine it goes dormant.
A Royal Recipe Tavern Brawl
Pretty cool brawl for people who want to play some of the new cards which they may not have yet.
Tavern Brawl Your Standard Brawliseum (Rastakhan Edition) - Best Decks for the Rastakhan Brawliseum
If you read my later post you can see that warrior was the only class I played, and it was a deck with none of the new legendary cards as I do not spend money on packs.
Tavern Brawl Your Standard Brawliseum (Rastakhan Edition) - Best Decks for the Rastakhan Brawliseum
I agree with some of what you say.
I don’t think that you need to have a bunch of new cards to do well though. No one really knows what the top meta decks are yet either, the best deck with these cards may not have even been discovered yet.
I did 9 wins on my first run, 10 wins on the second run and 10 on my third run (Kingsbane rogue is the bane of my existence stopping me from getting 12 lol)
I have just used odd dragon warrior each run, there are no new legendary cards in the deck, the majority of the cards were already released so most people should have them. https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/sjows-rastakhan-odd-dragon-warrior/
I don’t want to start an argument but I genuinely believe that most people who are complaining about cards they don’t have usually are making mistakes with the cards they do have which is a bigger factor in how well they perform. I have not spent money on this game for the last four expansions. It’s pretty easy to save up enough gold and dust to create one or two good meta decks, you don’t need to play every single one. A lot of the strong aggro decks are quite cheap to craft as well.
I agree with your comments about it potentially becoming more difficult as the players who are not doing well will likely only take the one free run and the players who are consistently doing well are more likely to queue up again.
I do much better in this format than I usually go in arena. I usually only average about 5 in arena but that’s probably just because I’m not as familiar with that format, I’m sure others farm it much better than I do.
That being said, I don’t think that it is insignificant that you get 10 gold every 3 wins which you don’t get in arena, that can add up to an extra 20 – 40 g per run which makes it easier to keep going. I know that there is a daily cap however.
Another point to note is that you only actually need like 2 wins and you are still getting approximately the same value for your gold as if you just purchased packs outright. This is very easy to achieve for anyone since that is only a 40% win rate. So the risk of entering is actually quite low when you think about it.

Lots of complaints coming up but this is my favourite tavern brawl by far. You only need 7 wins to basically get a free run (get your gold back for entry plus whatever other rewards you get). Anything above that is additional profit. You also get 10 gold every 3 wins, same as playing on ladder (which you don’t get for arena).
Every other tavern brawl I would just play for one free pack then leave it for a week so I definitely think this one has much more replayability.
This is quite helpful for me to build up some more of the new cards as I don’t like spending any money on packs.
If you don’t like it then just take the one free entry and leave it for a week. That’s what I would have done with any other brawl anyway.
Anyway, big thumbs up from me. Wish they would do these types of brawls more often.
Hearthstone Developer Insights: Arena Balanace Through Data
I didn’t have the same understanding as what you just outlined.
I thought that what happens is they give a weighting to each cards appearance however this is unaffected by your previous picks and you could consistently get good cards or bad cards (within each bucket) however on average most people will land somewhere in the middle.
e.g. I have had drafts where I have had up to 5 of the same card which is quite a high winrate card according to the data… it simply kept appearing so I chose it every time.
It would be good if someone could clarify because I am unsure how it works after your comments.
Hearthstone Developer Insights: Arena Balanace Through Data
I’m not sure where you get this idea from. The above article doesn’t say anything like that as far as I can see.
It’s just luck, I have had 4 legendarys in an arena draft and zero in many others. Just because the probability of something occurring is low does not mean that it won’t happen.
Based on what I can see, I don’t think that there is any reason to think that picking ‘worse’ cards would give you a higher chance of getting a legendary.
In any event, the above states that all of the cards are placed into buckets and each pick is from a certain bucket. This means that they consider all of the options to be close to equal in terms of win rate so you have no control over whether or not you get a good or a bad pick in the eyes of Blizzard.
Time Out!
I’m fairly certain that they are not in order as you suggest, only the board counts which means that you can get the same horseman which is already in your hand however you will always roll a different horseman to the ones on board.
If you look up the article on this website tittled “TK PALADIN DECK LIST GUIDE – BOOMSDAY – SEPTEMBER 2018” it states the following:
“hen you press the Hero Power, you can’t get a duplicate of the one that is already on the board, but it doesn’t count the hand. Let’s say that you rolled Darion Mograine first and bounced it back. Next turn you can roll Mograine again – if that’s the case, then you DON’T want to bounce it, since having a second copy will be useless. It makes your combo a bit RNG, and if you get unlucky, you might keep getting the same minions you already have in your hand.”
For this reason it seems that there is still a fair bit of RNG to getting the correct 4 horseman which this card will not fix alone (although it does give you more time).
Time Out!
Won’t let me reply to your comment for some reason MockRock so i will reply here.
I understand how the deck works, your comment was that you would only need to bounce one horseman back because of this new cards. I don’t understand how that is the case, as you have now rightly pointed out you need to bounce three back.
Even with two extra turns there is no gaurentee that you get the correct horsemen 3 turns in a row so bouncing 1 horseman back then having two of these does not mean that you have won the game.
Time Out!
It doesn’t make the horseman immune, they can still be removed after you play this spell.
The Best Decks in Hearthstone's History - Looking Back At The Best Deck From Each Expansion
That was a fun trip down memory lane.
When I saw the title of this article, Patron was the first thought that came into my head. I remember starting a new account on each server which I had not previously played on and getting legend within two or three weeks on all accounts with that deck (had to get enough dust to craft the cards before I could push). Not only was it ridiculously powerful if played correctly but it was very cheap as well.
Hallow's End Event 2018 is Live - Free Golden Witch's Cauldron, Dual Class Arena, New Paladin Hero!
is there any tier list available for dual class arena. or too difficult to work out?
Tavern Brawl Boss Battle Royale 2
Shaman seems to be powerful, most of my opponents seem to be playing it.
It was actually requested from many players including a lot of the pros as well as suggested by many of the major support sites for hearthstone.
It would have been a huge disappointment if they were not put into Hall of Fame.
Thank god they listened!
