Arcane Watcher
Silence Priest and Spell Damage Mage will run this, and it looks pretty good. 4/5 stars
Arcane Watcher
Tuskar fisherman is what you might be thinking of, and that rotates out this year
Arcane Servant
2/5 stars maybe? Wait, nope. Most elementals leave with Un goro and wild has better options. 1/5 stars
Aranasi Broodmother
3/5 stars. Can be a nice pick for the arena, but in constructed, is too unreliable for drawing and a bit weak for a 6 drop.
Bronze Herald
Could do well in wild, where dragon paladin certainly has more cards to play with. In standard….there’s cathedral gargoyle….Right now I feel like warrior does dragon better in standard, but who knows? Maybe paladin will get more dragons this year. Would definitely help this card out.
Vereesa Windrunner
Naw man. This card is much more than meets the eye. While some of hunters spells are rotating out, others like baited arrow, multi-shot, wing blast, and bomb toss remain and can use this. Not to mention any hunter spells that come out in the future
Keeper Stalladris
Was hoping for a choose one twinspell card. This makes every choose one a twinspell, plus you get both options on a 2 2/3 statline. Good card.
Heistbaron Togwaggle
A legendary that gives a reason to run a common card? No Dr. Boom, I’m not talking about you.
Hench-Clan Burglar
Theif rogue is something I think could work year of the dragon. Does this help? Maybe. Will this see play? Probably not.
Madame Lazul
3 mana 3/2 see what deck your opponent is playing? In the new meta where who knows what will be possible? Yes please! Some people may compare this the glimmeroot and say it’s worse, but It’s better for 2 reasons. 1: You are guarenteed a card from this unlike glimmeroot and 2: It’s (probably) less buggy than glimmeroot. So cool card idea for a legendary getting to discover from hand, and sorta fits the idea priest has now.
Story: I was playing theif rogue against awaken the makers priest. I pull glimmeroot from espionage and play it. The choices I get are:
a) Dead ringer
b) Awaken the makers
c) I don’t remember pick a or b
The correct answer was dead ringer by the way, even though he very cleary has awaken the makers in play. Bug, glitch, or intended I’ll probably never find out on my own. I’m wondering if anyone has an explanation for this?
Improve Morale
The combo potential is really good with this card. Enrage a minion or set up with execute plus getting a good 1-drop. Will definitely see play.
Omega Devastator
So here’s where the origonal omega defender art went. This looks pretty good, and I think it will see play in control warrior(maybe other decks could use this) if control warrior exists after many cards rotate out.
Rafaam's Scheme
Considering that fiendish circle (4 mana summon 4 1/1s) didn’t see play, I’m not too sure this will. It has the obvious upside that it can summon 7/7 worth of stats for 3 mana, but that has to happen turn 7 or later if the card doesn’t start in your hand. That is WAY too slow for zoo, not to mention that there are many board clears (mossy horror, hagitha’s scheme, dragonmaw schorcher) for this to be used. Also, filling your board with 1/1s provides zero defense against anything that wants to go face.
Oblivitron
Mechanical Whelp and Spider bomb are the only things you really want to pull because of the bad statline. It can pull out non-deathrattle mechs as well, so the ability can be wasted on something like galvanizer. Not helping this card is the fact that terrorscale stalker, play dead, and carnivorous cube rotate out this year. If this card came out in boomsday, it would see play in specific mech decks. But now? I think it’s too late to be good in standard.
Kalecgos
What I see in this card is a blend of Inkmaster Solia, Tortollan Primalist, and Duskfallen Aviana.
Inkmaster: If you have a spell in hand you can play this 4/12 body and the spell for free, without any deck requirements
Tortollan: If you don’t have a spell, you discover one, and you get to target where the spell casts
Aviana: If this survives, you get the free spell effect again, and your opponent doesn’t.
So take the best aspects of those 3 cards and you get Kalecgos. The only problem is whether or not mage will have the tools to survive until they can swing the board with this, and I think they can. Flamestrike, Blizzard, Blast Wave, and Polymorph are all cards that aren’t out of the picture for a control mage to play, and can do better with Kalecgos on the field. Plus there are 9 other mage cards coming, and some of those may help mage too, so I this card will do really well in mage.
At 2 mana this would be somewhat viable. At 4 mana it is unplayable. -1/5 stars
