All Changes To The Hearthstone Core Set 2024 - 89 Cards In, 83 Cards Out, 36 Card Adjustments
Cards in the core set are offered to all players for free and cannot be disenchanted. This is the updated core set for next year, starting with the new expansion (in March or April). If you’re saying you disenchanted cards that will now be offered in the core set, you technically just got the dust “for free”, since those cards will be in your collection anyway (at least as long as they’re in core).
If you’re saying you used dust to craft legendaries that will be rotating out with the new Standard year, that sucks… and it’s how the rotation works. So if you’re not planning to play Wild, yeah, they’re going to be “useless” when they rotate out of Standard.
The Azerite Murloc (Legendary Excavate Treasure)
This one- and the Dragon, but especially this one -feels completely different from the others. Each of those is a massive Tempo play. Even the Snake which was used as a combo piece, like, you still are always happy to have that. But these two feel like wincons in a different way, and I’m not anywhere near as excited for them.
Shattered Reflections
If you have one of these and Eonar in turn at turn 10, you can: play Eonar, refresh mana crystals, use this on Eonar. You then have your duplicate-board Eonar to restore to full health. You still have five mana crystals left, back to full health, 2 5/5 taunts on board, an Eonar waiting in hand, AND another one waiting in your deck. With 2 copies of this, you can just… do that again in another few turns. And 4 more Eonars waiting. This seems like Rise of Shadows Fatigue Warrior levels of Control-breaking.
Deepminer Brann
lol well that’s the funniest and most embarrassing comment i’ve left in a long while. 10/10 to me
Deepminer Brann
So… This was supposed to be a Hunter card, right? Other than a miserable-for-your-opponent synergy with Trial by Fire, what role is this supposed to play in Warrior decks? Warrior has never been a Deathrattle class…
14 Hearthstone Cards Will Be Changed Next Week, But Which Ones? Nerf, Buff and Ban Predictions!
Perhaps this is unpopular, but in regards to Warlock I’d much rather see text changes. I want Demon Seed to require taking damage a certain number of times from cards, rather than a certain amount and removing hero power from the mix- this will push for less draw, and also push more for minions/small damage, putting the weakness of self-damage cards back (see the shaman quest, where you still overload crystals and get the weakness- first goal excluded -so you get the drawback in full).
Also, change Flesh Giant to be based on times your hero was healed. That will balance it more for priest as well- it has always felt like a Warlock card, not a dual-class card, and super slow down when it gets dropped. And Questlock still runs plenty of heals, so it doesn’t have to remove the card from the archetype– although that wouldn’t be a bad thing, in my opinion
Entrapped Sorceress
(I mean, most quests love this, but Priest and Mage can use this to more directly finish their questlines quickly)
Stubborn Suspect
Like, an arguably slightly better shredder, that won’t see play outside Arena
Stormwind Piper
I wish this had stealth. It fits the flavor, the card still would barely see play (if any) so it wouldn’t break it, and I always think they under-utilize stealth on cards with effects.
Voidtouched Attendant
Did I miss the part where they’re changing the Duels hero powers, or did they just decide to make priest’s twice as effective?
Vengeance, Revisited: What Is Demon Hunter’s New Identity?
Well I think that is the tech card issue. Secret tech is GREAT… and niche. Weapon tech is great… and niche.
Even in a meta like this, where Secret Pally (with weapons AND secrets), Warrior (with weapons), and Mage (with secrets) are by far the dominating forces, my control priest deck only has one weapon tech slotted. And, regardless of the power level of my deck going up, it feels awful to draw against non-weapon classes.
I don’t have a solution, but it’s an ongoing issue for me in the game. Like, drawing my Acidic Swamp Ooze can be a game-ender against Face Hunter. It is functionally a dead card, since most don’t run weapons, and I can’t waste 2 mana on a 3/2.
It’s hard to make powerful weapons without making weapon response cards, but it’s hard to make weapon response cards that don’t feel bad against non-weapon classes. It wasn’t as much of an issue last year, with the majority of control decks being Highlander. It’s easier to slot tech cards into a HL deck than a standard control one, because consistency in HL is more flexible.
All this to say, I wish I knew a solution to making tech cards feel better to play against the things they aren’t teched for.
Kripparian and RegisKillbing Offered Their Crossroads Innvitational Slots, Lunaloveee and Avelline Replace Them
Because Regis and Kirpp chose to. Which it says in the headline. And the article. Blizzard didn’t make this choice. They did.
Balance Changes Are Coming Next Week - What Could They Mean for the Meta?
okay but like, the nerfs haven’t been announced yet, so how would you like someone to write an article sharing information that doesn’t exist?
The other article was a response to the announcement, and this one is an analysis of it using actual data as a reference point. the other was news, this is theory, and even though they’re similar, they aren’t the same….
Balance Update 20.0.2 Coming "Early Next Week", 6 Cards Nerfed, Targets Mage, Paladin, Rogue and Neutral Cards
I hope the sword of the fallen nerf targets durability, not cost. Secret Pally should be a faster deck- and it’s so refreshing to have a quick-start deck that isn’t just face-spamming!!
Balance Update 20.0.2 Coming "Early Next Week", 6 Cards Nerfed, Targets Mage, Paladin, Rogue and Neutral Cards
I think that for the current meta nerfing RSW makes sense, BUT I also love the card, think it’s a great way to manage mana cheating (can’t be used before turn 4 for full effect), and it isn’t the card causing problems (that’s deck of lunacy, for the most part).
Jandice nerf would target rogue, which has just wayyyy too many bounce effects for Jandice to feel anything other than miserable to play against- I haven’t seen a mage play her other than from Font of Power, which is a niche highroll.
The Best Forged in the Barrens Decks From the First Days
I’m not super excelling with it yet, but I’m running a tempo priest ft. Knife Vendor, Illucia, and the strong early support of Freshman, Cleric, PW Feast, and Apotheosis. Crabrider to pick up special benefits from the buffs. Currently at Silver 2- but I started with 1 star per game so i’m climbing slow. Either way, it’s some of the most fun Hearthstone I’ve ever played- and i’ve been here since 2015
I wish they’d stop putting rotating cards into the core set. Especially a card like Slitherspear, which has such an early snowball potential. Even Muck Pools- and evolve has some of my favorite shenanigans -feels stale at this point, despite never being a prominent card. But I’d even rather see Mutate- which is worse and weaker -than try to make muck pools work. Again.
