Mecha'thun Warrior - Top 40 Legend (Rami94) - Galakrond's
Risky Skipper is a pirate. Check it out in your collection. It was errata’d after it was spoiled.
Astromancer Solarian
*Virtually* a strictly superior Cult Sorcerer, which was played in non-C’thun decks because it was just a solid card. If there ends up being a tempo mage deck in standard, I’m sure this’ll be in it.
Underlight Angling Rod
A moment of silence for our long-departed friend, Fiery War Axe T_T
Marsh Hydra
It remains to be seen exactly how good, on average, the 8-drop pool will be following rotation and the release of this set. But as long as it isn’t abysmal, this seems pretty solid.
Descent of Dragons Card Review #5 - Ancharr, Kobold Stickyfinger, Cumulo-Maximus, Zzeraku, Nithogg, Bandersmosh, Frizz Kindleroost and more!
Your review of Frizz Kindleroost seems to imply that dragons in your hand are also discounted. If you have two 6-cost dragons in hand, you won’t be able to play them both on t8 after playing Frizz, since only dragons still in your deck will be discounted.
Still an extremely powerful card, just wanted to point that out.
Sanctuary
It seems likely that Sanctuary has to “see” an ENTIRE turn (that is, it has to see the turn start and then end) where you don’t take damage to trigger. Otherwise, it’d literally just be a 2 mana 3/6 that happens to proc Counterspell.
Sanctuary
Definitely could put non-Mage control decks in a pickle in the early game. I think the speed of the meta will probably have a significant impact on this card’s playability. I suppose it has synergy with Time Out! but that seems a little too cute to be worthwhile.
Valdris Felgorge
Been waiting since 2016. Handlock was the second deck I ever crafted (after Oil Rogue). Evenlock couldn’t satisfy the craving.
Flik Skyshiv
Regardless of its playability (which I do think is high) this is a really excellent exploration of design space, and I really like it.
King Phaoris
It will summon a minion with a cost equal to whatever Prismatic Lens changed the spell’s cost to.
For reference:
-Spirit of the Frog will draw you a 1-cost spell if you cast a Feral Spirits that has been discounted by Haunting Visions.
-Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, will summon a 3-cost minion if you cast Fireball with a Sorcerer’s Apprentice in play.
Activate the Obelisk
I chuckled in a bathroom stall at work reading this. If I end up socially ostracized, it’s your fault. 😛
King Phaoris
Army-in-a-can cards are rarely bad, and this doesn’t require much deckbuilding contortion to be good. 4/5
Conjured Mirage
I agree that this card is worse than frost nova if you’re not somehow exploiting the fact that this is a minion. With nova, you have a guarantee that your opponent’s minions won’t attack next turn (unless they somehow all get silenced). This card is soft to removal and thus is significantly less reliable.
Flame Ward
Non-legend rarity is typically determined based on a card’s complexity and versatility, not its power.
Conjured Mirage
Frost Nova is in literally every mage deck right now. I’m not saying this card is a frost nova, but it’s worth noting that the card is played in a t1 deck.
Conjured Mirage
This is correct. Abilities trigger in timestamp order, just like secrets and deathrattles.
Embalming Ritual
Reborn minions can be healed. They come back with 1 health remaining, not with their base health set to 1.
I find this really upsetting. The legend card back used to be something to be proud of, and just this one month has really cheapened that.
