Yesterday was pretty crazy for Battlegrounds players. Between 18 new minions and 7 new Heroes, the meta has changed completely. But Constructed players are still being kept in the dark, not to mention that the patch has also introduced a bunch of bugs. The latest blue post is giving us some more information about both of those.
- iOS issues with patching are already fixed and should be deployed soon.
- Some Android users are also experiencing different errors. They’re trying to figure what’s going on and will give an update as soon as they know.
- Battlegrounds duo queues were fixed (yesterday you couldn’t find match when duo queuing).
- Bugged, 7 mana version of Mogu Fleshshaper with no artwork no longer appears in the game. Apparently, you could find him under crafting section and Evolve minions into it.
- Dragons update for Battlegrounds is just the beginning of big news. More information will come mid-March (but given Blizzard’s definition of “mid-month”, it can even be next week, but the week after seems more likely).
We’d like to provide some updates since the 16.4 patch went live yesterday.
16.4 introduced an iOS issue that could put players into an infinite loop and prevent them from playing. We’ve fixed this issue and have sent a new game version to the App Store. We’re currently expecting this to be deployed to the App Store and available for download soon.
We’ve also seen players on Android experiencing a few issues that are preventing them from playing. We suspect this is limited to certain devices, so we’re doing testing with a variety of Android devices today to help us learn more about the issue. We’ll share an update on this as soon as we know more.
Lastly, two issues from yesterday have already been resolved. A temporary issue was preventing players from queueing for Battlegrounds with a friend, but this has been fixed. We’ve resolved another issue where players were seeing an incorrect version of the card Mogu Fleshshaper that was missing art. You should no longer be able to acquire the incorrect card in the game.
On a separate note, we’ve noted some members of the community wondering if yesterday’s Dragons update for Battlegrounds was the totality of a big communication about game updates that has been rumored. While Dragons is a big update to the Battlegrounds mode, this is just the first step in our plans for the rest of the year. We’ll have more information on what’s next for Hearthstone in mid-March. We’re excited to show all of this to you in just a few weeks.
Are they ever going to address the wierd visual glitches that have been in the game for MONTHS?! ;P
“We’ve also seen players on Android experiencing a few issues that are preventing them from playing” … ye-es.
Since the patch it now hangs on my Samsung J5 when loading up (generally on the Hearthstone splash/intro screen).
However it’s fine on the Samsung s10e I’ve also got and the Kindle Fire 10. Go figure.
Yeah, in the blue post he mentioned that it seems to be problem with specific devices. It seems to be working on mine, but let’s hope that they figure it out as soon as possible 🙂
Seems the Android patch released this morning may have fixed it – not had a chance to actually try and play on my phone yet but I was at least able to get into “My Collection” 🙂
My guess, they will tie the announcement with the birthday event.
If it’s not, then we’ll have a very short time between announcement, card reveals, and major updates.
unless they push the expansion into later date, which is almost unlikely.
The wait is killing me.
Yeah, I think that next week would be the most optimal. BG Dragons patch this week, Standard Year announcement next week, expansion announcement 2 weeks from now. This would be a nice way to spread the news but wouldn’t be too late.
(And while I more or less know what’s going to be announced, I have absolutely no clue when, hahah)
More data suggest it’s true.

Yeah, it’s a solid educated guess. Either way, we’ll see pretty soon 🙂
