Upcoming Expansion’s Rewards Track Will Have 100 Levels Instead of 50 (With Same Rewards & XP Required)

Honestly, basically the title. Game Designer Iksar continues his reddit comment spree, answering more questions and sharing information (click here if you want to learn what he had to say about achievements, current bugs and a few more things).

He just shared a very interesting comment about the rewards track for upcoming expansion:

Our latest reward track for the next expansion has 100 levels, the same amount of required XP, and the same amount of total rewards. Sounds like we’re on the same page.

As we get closer to completion (and the next expansion) we’ll share more details.

Which is, frankly, great news. It’s something I (and many other players) have been asking for ever since the rewards track was introduced. More levels with the same total XP requirement means that you will get rewards twice as often. The current rewards track feels so much better after you finish the base 50 levels – with only ~1.5k XP per level you breeze through them much more easily and get some rewards nearly every day (and sometimes a few times per day when you’re still doing Weeklies). Even though it’s much better between 40 and 50 now, 5k XP per level still feels like a slog. Maxing it at 2.5k XP would be way better even if the rewards would be cut in half.

It’s great to hear that Blizzard is trying to improve the rewards system, even if it took a lot of drama for them to start making significant changes.

Edit: Just to make sure – it only applies to the “core” levels, so we’ll get 100 instead of the current 50. There will still be extra levels after 100 like we do have right now, although we don’t know how many yet.

I don’t know wtf is going on with all this bs. Stop changing the game so often. I can’t get used to this rewards track before they change it. I’ve no clue what the achievements unlock.

And maybe get battlegrounds out of beta before you launch another beta game mode.

If the goal is to keep players off balance so we don’t even know what they’re changing, mission accomplished.

Oh wow this great news indeed. Next maybe they can fix duels because I honestly think its a great mode, until I realized I could only effectively play 1 class….

Yes!!! The suggestion from 50 to 100 I wrote about early in the HS forums. I’m pumped to see them make this change. I would be happy to see the same amount of gold (I think), but a few more trinkets to collect on the road to success. Weird things like wild packs could be fun.

Two more things I’d like to see:
    – Make the XP gaps between levels even instead of scaling as you go up the track.
    – Auto-claim the XP at the end of a match instead of having to go into the track

    Great!
Having a constant flow of small rewards is nice, like you wrote. Seems like f2p-101 to me.
Did they actually not know better?

Maybe add some info that those 100 level is the core level, not the total level a player can achieve.
I read it wrong the first time. Made me double checking that instead of getting 50 rewards in the core level, now we can have 100 rewards aside from the bonus levels.
And I really hoping that they don’t start another drama adding useless rewards such as old packs and reduced values in those 100 levels.

Great news, faster reward means more incentive to play.
Even if I don’t sound too happy, because Dean become more active in the community is a very late timing. They could do this from long ago, appoint some member to do the Q&A session every day/week. And avoid unnecessary problems before happening.

Keeping silent and tone deaf just make the players feels ignored and not important. So, kudos for them for doing this now, better late than never. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought that saying “instead of 50” made it clear. Because right now we have 50 base levels, not 50 levels in total.

But I’ll edit it to be more clear.

And I agree, communication should be much better over the last 2 months, but it’s better late than never.
