Big changes in the upcoming 10.2 patch for Hearthstone! There are nerfs coming to Bonemare, Corridor Creeper, Patches the Pirate, and Raza the Chained!
- Patch/Nerf Release Date: Next Month (February 2018)
- All Non-Golden Disenchant Value: 4,080 Arcane Dust
- All Golden Disenchant Value: 10,400 Arcane Dust
You will have two weeks after the nerfs to disenchant the newly balanced cards at full value. You should disenchant all of the cards regardless if you plan to keep them or not. You can always re-craft them afterwards! Also, be sure not to accidentally mass-disenchant your collection because you can get dust for any extras of these cards you are holding onto.
Patches’ voice line about him being in CHARRRRGE is going to be changed!
“We found an extra voice line for patches so we are swapping out the charge line :)” – Mike Donais
Official Blizzard Post
In the upcoming 10.2 update, we will be making balance changes to the following cards:
Bonemare – Now costs 8 mana. (Up from 7)
Bonemare has been quite strong in both constructed and Arena. It has a big, immediate impact on the board, and since it’s neutral, it’s been finding its way into a wide variety of decks.
Increasing its mana cost by 1 will give opponents more time to utilize powerful late-game cards to counteract Bonemare’s effect on the board.
Corridor Creeper – Now has 2 Attack. (Down from 5)
Due to the way that Corridor Creeper’s mana cost reduction works, it can cause big swings based on whether or not it happens to be in-hand at the start of the game.
Since it’s a very strong neutral card, Corridor Creeper has been played by a lot of classes. By lowering its attack, we reduce the overall swing potential and power level of the card, but still allow players who draw it early to benefit from having a low-cost minion to play when the game state is ideal.
Patches the Pirate – No longer has Charge.
As we move closer to the new Hearthstone Year, we had some concerns about allowing Patches to remain in his current state after moving out of Standard. Patches’ strength has caused almost every class to add some Pirates just to benefit from him, and his early game power forces control decks to include a good answer to him. This change should give Wild players more flexibility when building their decks.
Removing Charge will lower his power level, ensuring he shows up in fewer decks and allowing opposing players some additional time to respond to Patches, making him less “in charge” of the early game.
Raza the Chained – Now reads: Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, your Hero Power costs (1) this game.
In a similar vein to Patches the Pirate, we had some concerns about allowing Raza to remain in his current state forever. Raza is currently an important combo piece along with Shadowreaper Anduin, and can lead to games that rely heavily on drawing him by turn 5. Adjusting his Battlecry will lower his overall power level when combined with Shadowreaper Anduin in Standard, and keep his power level reasonable in Wild as we prepare for the new Hearthstone Year.
Once these card changes are live with Update 10.2 next month, players will be able to disenchant the changed cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in the tavern!
Cards from nerf that are safe to disenchant?
So if i craft Patches before the nerf, i can still disenchant it for the same amount of 1600 dust?
I would like to play it before te nerf :).
Is it possible to get a golden corridor Creeper in the end of this months rewards? Then dust him once the nerfs hit?
Of course, why not?
LET ME CHANGE YOUR MIND
It was a pleasure to enjoy Patches/Raza’s services during the last years. This notice is an excelent opportunity as we got a total refund (two month before rotation) to spend the dust in the next MOST CANCER deck. Would this be a bucolic cycle?? Thanks!! <B
I think they could of had CC start at 7 mana as a 7/5 and get -1 attack and cost 1 mana less for each creature that dies. This would scale well with the game. When he cost 0 mana you get a vanilla 0/1.
Correction when it costs 0 you would get a vanilla 0/5.
Is still great though, you can play around it and it punishes greediness (while avoiding savage comebacks/combos with boardwipes)
Well, well, well, it only took them two years to nerf patches, what a joke, but Wild definitely needs to be protected. Therefore I’d expected Jade Idol to be addressed as well.
We can only hope they learn from these mistakes. They created a Hall of Fame for a reason. Just because a card such as Patches is from an expansion and will eventually rotate out doesn’t mean that it can’t create the same problems that cards such as Azure Drake did, which is to be auto-included in the majority of decks, creating this boring homo-genic feel to all those decks.
Cube-Lock will be the new cancer then? Designer Dean Ayala said in an interview at the World Championship that he doesn’t think it will be that oppressive (they play-tested Cubelock a lot before the release of Kobolds apparently). But yeah, this from a dude who’s in the same team that releases cards such as Patches, Bonemare and Corridor Creeper without any inkling of the consequences. The same can be said for Spiteful Summoner. I hope that he’s right though.
Well, don’t get me wrong: it’s a powerful deck. But calling it cancer? x’D Yo, Gadgetzan Pirate Warrior’s looking for you and he’s angry.
It s a powerfull deck that can be played by everyone with a good winrate without too much skill, so in my opinion it can be cancer.
I want to point out that Azure Drake is barely seeing any play since it ‘rotated to Wild’. What was once a powerhouse of Standard is now just a fringe play.
I overall like the nerfs.
Corridor Creeper is a great fix. The Problem with CC he was to powerful for zero 0 mana and the condition is to easy. You should pay cost when you are adding a card in your deck a 7 mana 5 is not a huge cost for this payoff. A 2/5 feels more fair. Cc is still going to be played but its not a autoinclude anymore
Raza nerf is great. Highlander Decks will still be viable. The broken thing was the huge dmgs spikes the deck did out nowhere with velen. Now is surving a win opt against them.
Patches feels weird. I think 2 mana where better than it doesn’t have a synergy with keleseth anymore. this was the broken thing. Recruiting something is normal thing to do in modern Hs 😀
The Bonemare nerf is good for Arena but for constructed i dont know. Aggro Decks all over the classes got hurt a lot. I think Bonemare is going to be replaced by thr 5mana Dragon or is still to see play in lack of better options for aggro decks
No Warlock nerf is weird.
Here i think Voidcaller is the problem. Its shutting down Aggro too much. Its not in flavor but it should summon non-taunt or non-demon minions. Than aggro decks had a chance to fight through
I truly feel that making voidcaller summon non demons would be a buff, because when you play Warlock DK, you don’t want it summoning back a bunch of garbage 1/3s
No taunt demons would be a big nerf.
I m not agree it will be a hudge nerf against aggro. And with the actual state you can play DK after one Voidlord with a hudge value wich is good in a deck wich play only 4demons.
*it would be
I assume you mean Voidlord? Voidcaller is something else entirely – and it’s made a big comeback in Wild.
IF void caller isn’t ruining agro then you’re playing the match too long. Yes I understand there are ways to cheat it out early, but run a couple of silences and you’ll be fine. Agro looks to end the game by turn 6. That realistically gives your warlock opponent one turn to cheat out a void caller. If you haven’t secured victory by turn 6 with an agro deck then you’ve lost anyway.
Is*. Not isn’t. Typing from a phone is hard.
Voidcaller (http://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/voidcaller/) can get you a Voidlord on the board on turn 4 in Wild – technically turn 3 with Sacrificial Pact but nobody runs Sacrificial Pact as Dark Pact is generally better; it’s quite possible to have a Voidlord and Mal’ganis on the board by turn 5 or 6.
Inner Fire Combo Priest is gonna see a huge benefit. It counters warlock pretty hard, didn’t require any of the nerfed cards, and will also benefit from the hit that aggro will take. Should be a sleeper pick for post nerf meta.
Yeah true and I can’t wait to play even more miracle rogue and Exodia to beat all these warlocks!! And it should lower the aggro presence wich will be good for these decks
And the next change are going to be that cubelock is dead
Ich would have loved to see getting these Spiteful Summoner Decks addressed. Patches, Bonemare and Creeper are too less of a Nerf for these Decks.
The Priest Variant without Pirates does work and you get fucked up at Turn 6, without seeing Bonemare or Creeper.
For me all those Decks are bigger Cancer than every Deck before. It is plain stupid and boring from the fun perspective. Spells are fun, Spells are interactive.
From the gameplan perspective, it is hard to counter, you can just play aggressive enough to kill him at 6 or 7 and hope to Not getting dragoned. I mean how much fun is it, If they have their perfect starting hand with northshire, Shadow ascendant and you have a 100 percent boardclear with doomsayer. Every fucking Deck even Aggro Decks were able to deal with an early doomsayer somehow. Every Game feels the same.
If you want to win against warlock, tech some weapon destruction and silence or better hex. If you want to kill some priests, try it with dirty Rats and coldlights. What to tech against These Spiteful Summoner Decks?
I am not saying that they are too strong in the Long Run. But they are too strong for how stupid boring they are. They shouldn’t even exist and the Versions of Druid are even more fucked up to begin with … Just waiting for mage, who pyroblasts himself at 8 with Grand archivist, because He wants to have good Turn 6 Summoners.
These ones are in fact brainless curb playing decks and are unfun. But I think the nerfs will make them much weaker and easier to deal with.
We ll see
No need to nerf spiteful summoner for me cause you have to build the entire deck around it and this kind of card have to be strong.
I have mixed feelings about nerfing it. I don’t find it too strong, but it feels almost like a coin toss. And every game feels the same. And it is not important, if you play against the Pirate Warrior, Dragon Priest, Shit Druid or Face Hunter Variant.
1. Can you answer their early Shadow Ascendant?
Yes? Proceed to 2.
No? Sry you lost
2. Was it a Doomsayer Clear?
Yes? Grats you won
No? Proceed to 3.
3. Does he clear your board with Duskbreaker now?
Yes? Proceed to 4.
No? Proceed to 5.
4. You have no Board, are you facing a Scalebane also now?
Yes? Sry you lost
No? Proceed to 6.
5. You have a Board, are you facing a Scalebane now?
Yes? Proceed to 6.
No? Grats you won
6. Does he have a Spiteful now?
Yes? Proceed to 7.
No? Grats you won
7. Are you able to clear the Board?
Yes? Proceed to 8.
No? Sry you lost
8. Does he drop a Grand Archivist?
Yes? Sry you lost
No? Grats you won
There is no Thought Procedure behind the deck, and also no Thought Procedure playing against it. As a Control Deck you can’t think about saving a Removal. Leave Shadow Ascendant up and you die, leave Scalebane up and you die, run out of Removals and die to Deathwing from Spiteful. Have Removals and die to Big Immune Druid Dinosaur, which I don’t even know its name. Try to reload your Removals with Mage Ravens and recognize that you can’t win a Joust against Big Shit Summoner decks. Go back to Solitaire and try next Day.
I am so glad that it didn’t work out for Ant at the Word Championship. I don’t want to see Kolento or Purple getting depressed, because of losing to such shit Decks and turning into Solitaire Streamers.
high roll meta incoming, Warlock and barnes priest
Warlock…a high roll? And in the same sentence as Big Priest.
Boi, you must be the funny one.
is very similar to barnes priest, 3 high roll cards, 2 possessed lackey + weapon, the deck is build around this cards that sometimes you don’t draw. i know that barnes priest is a lot more high roll style.
Agree with mm. except big priest is very low to low skill and cubelock low to middle skill
People, we playing the same game? Cubelock’s not low skill, it’s above average. Low skill are decks that you can auto-pilot. Believe me, there’s no real argument there.
As for the high roll…the deck has like two options for manari and luckey. Are you really saying that’s a high roll? It’s ridicoulus, there’s barely any rng factor in this. The most “rng”-influenced warlock gets is whether you’ll get Doomguard or Voidlord and usually both are fine in most situations. Come on, get real.
They also nerfed 8 and 7 mana spot for evolve shaman, and spiteful decks… I think highlander deck very much affected meta, this changes will make more control decks viable. Warlock will be targeted by everyone. Quest mage, control warrior, priest control, mage control, maybe even shaman control will see rise.
Omg, I crafted Leeroy yesterday for tempo rogue, paladin, or some aggro deck… Now aggro is almost dead… And i dont have dust to craft something to get refund. 🙁
Aggro decks are never dead since they just require tons of cheap minions and no brain. They just lose some stronger cards. You can even play aggro priest with basic cards just by outtempoing your opponent as long as he doesn’t draw perfectly.
Dont worry Leeroy is must have either way. Im sure he will find a spot in the new meta, he is too cool to be left out of meta. We will have new cards too. He is good in controllish decks too for a finish.
Down with the corridor creepers! Yay for dusting patches to get the druid DK! Yay to the end of infinite damage Rasa priest! (I no it’s not technically infinite, but it sometimes feels that way fighting it!)
R.I.P Raza and CC, patches still too good. i don’t like the raza nerf, would be better to make DK cost 10 mana, it would not kill the deck
Patches is dead. There has been tons of analysis done and when players have forgot to attack with patches there has been a significant drop in win rate for such matches. Also, the win rate with patches drawn to hand has been abysmal, and now it is much much worse to draw him in hand. Patches is no more.
No sympathy for the pirate scum, he can stay unused in Wild until Blizzard drops the game for all I care.
when players forgot to attack with patches, it means is a terrible player, not that 1 damage matter that much, draw patches is almost game over with or without charge, hopefolly i will never see patches again, but i’m not sure about that
You’re wrong though. Firstly the fact people forget to attack with patches means they forget to attack with patches. You don’t draw any other conclusion here or you’d be blamed with generalizing.
Secondly, you can’t ignore actual “research” for lack of a better word. Yes 1 damage matters and it matters a lot.
As for drawing patches. Yes, it’s a big set back.
I think I will keep patches in miracle rogue. Swashburglar is an auto include and patches thins my deck. Also, it provides a combo generator
Patches still too good? LOL
Patches *might* still see play in Wild Pirate decks because he still thins your deck, triggers the Ship’s Cannon, gets +1/+1 from Southsea Captain and activates Bloodsail Cultist.
The Creeper nerf is a little harsh – but it could still be useful in beast Hunter type decks – especially against Priest if you can drop it on turn 4 with a Houndmaster; 4/7 taunt + 4/3 on the board isn’t at all bad and right in Priest’s blind spot.
The Bonemare nerf is definitely needed – it’s a very high value card for the cost. So many minion oriented games I’ve played were basically resolved by who played Bonemare first.
Quest/Freeze/OTK Mage vs Control/cube warlock : 100% wins
This nerfing its bad , i think they should doing this after ending of mammoth year, patches should be untouched but corridor creeper hmm 5/5 but should Cost 9 mana, Bonemare hmm , here its hard decision maybe 3/3 and gives taunt but Cost Still willbe at 7 mana ???, btw why patches its going to be nerfed , when gadgetzan, karazhan and Old gods will go to Wild ??????, Good Night ?
Ever heard of wild? It honestly makes me so mad that people prettend it doesnt exist… we are a significant part of the hearthstone community and shouldnt be left with retarded raza and patches decks for the rest of eternity
Well, patches used to fit perfectly wild, Raza is too strong.
You got offended. X’D
But I get what you mean. I personally love the nerfs. You Wilders have enough on your plates, there’s no need for Patches to start being in “charge” of wild.
The funny thing about Wild – to borrow a phrase from the Incredibles – “when everyone’s super, no-one will be”; there are so many lulzy bonkers combos in Wild that Patches is rarely little more than annoying noise – and Pirate Warrior is actually not that great, even with Ship’s Cannon.
Patches isn’t bad with One-Eyed Cheat though since Pirate Rogue is actually viable in Wild.
Tnx for your service’s Raza. Good bye
Gotta start Theory crafting an Anti Warlock deck.
Control shaman with hexes, earth shock, and devolve with many other taunts and ways to clear should be the bane to control warlocks who rely on summoning their minions that previously died. So, if the voidlords never die, or cubes are devolved then the destructions of warlocks should ensue.
Great, now Raza priest is completely dead. I know the fact that it’s an op deck but I’m not sure if I can agree with the nerf. Now it’s literally impossible for Raza priest to win against Jade Druid…
You must be joking.
Have you ever played Raza priest? If you have, you must know what I’m talking about.
Umm yeah that’s the fuckin’ point. No one wants to see Razakus dominate the Meta. It’s been too good for too long. Jade druid also almost loses to anything with skulking geist and can struggle with aggro. Now that highlander priest is gone, people no longer have to run Jades. I’m a little worried about how powerful warlock will be, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Yeah, both Raza priest and Jades had their time. I guess this is just like pre-rotation. Warlock is definitely gonna be the top tier of tier 1 after this nerf. Overall I think Hearthstone isn’t gonna be very interesting next month, so we’ll probably just have to wait for the next expansion to come out.
Hopefully we’ll get some decent Shaman cards in the next expansion – the current Control Warlock decks are kinda vulnerable to Hex and Polymorph as they’re so reliant on continually resurrecting Voidlords.
Hex/Poly the Voidlords and you’re laughing – but since Shaman isn’t particularly viable right now…
Cubelock is a different matter as they also have the Doomguard option.
They are all needed changes but for the “great” part, I dont agree. Corridor creeper and patches are next to unplayable, another pile in the graveyard of dead nerfed cards. Those things should be more carefully and thoroughly constructed/changed. The only thing I can see is DUST.
Nice nerfs i see corridor kreeper still play in beast aggro decks or token shaman but 2/5 its a massiv nerf.
I m a bit sad for miracle rogue cause patch was a good anti aggro but in the same time it should be easier against aggro without him. In my opinion they could just make him unbuffable to limit the keleseth and Southsea captain effect.
And for razakus priest i think the cycle/combo forme will be much more weaker now than the control form especially in wild with Reno.
But i m agree Blizzard lacks so much anticipation… Cubelock will be just too strong and should be nerf before it s happening.
pathches nerf sucks totally unecessary
How can you deffend such a ridiculous op card? It was the strongest legendary in hearthstone for a whole fcking year. His time is long overdue, good riddance
Oh come on, it just rotates in few seasons and fits perfectly wild. This is not a nerf, is bullshit.
2/5 on corridor Creeper is too much in my opinion. 3/5 is more acceptable
Glad to see someone who shares my thought 🙂
I’d be OK with 2/5 if it had Taunt. Otherwise, he’s dust bait.
I think they wanted to make sure it sees very minimal play in the future. I don’t think they want to nerf it twice.
I suppose, but what they did to it makes it pretty much worthless. I can see Hunter playing this MAYBE as a Beast target (but probably not, and it will definitely dilute the Discover for DK) or maybe Shaman as an Evolve target, but if you don’t get this in your opening hand, it will be worth a great deal less. I hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it.
I agree it should have been 3/5.
Now Raza reminds Maiden of The Lake
Great! I will be able to have two months of rest after a year of pirates and highlander…
After the nerf I prob see locks only. Meh.
Then play miracle Rogue that’s how meta works
quest mage will be the king of the meta 🙁
when is this update gonna be released? i’m gonna disenchant patches!!
Some time in February, no official date yet.
Raza priest is dead, long live Cubelock and who will keep Gul’dan in check now? Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with all the nerfs (better late than ever) but someone should have predicted that a new meta tyrant is on the rise since highlander priest will most likely lose his throne.
You know what? I totally agree. I forsee an Expansion in the near future that probably puts Cubelock in check, or maybe one of its key cards moving to the Hall of Fame. February’s gonna be Cubelock Month.
I could see Doomguard being ushered into the Hall of Fame. It wouldn’t really impact Wild, but it would impact Cubelock in Standard. For now, just pack lots of Silence and let’s see how it pans out.
Way to make lock control and Pally aggro unbeatable. For the sake of WILD which is not a competitive format. Good job blizz!
And wasn’t it the small indy company who once said that they do not care about power balancing the Wild format? Because it’s a WILD format? Oh well…
Regarding the nerfs:
I’m fine with Bonemare and Creeper; seeing them all the time became to boring waaayyy to fast. Patches and Raza, on the other hand … on one hand, there’s the flavor aspect. Those guys are fucking legendaries – I guess they should do legendary things, then (btw I would’ve been perfectly fine with Bonemare and Creeper if those where legendaries). But what really annoys me (it does so every time) is the bullshit Blizzard has to say about why they are nerfing those cards when the majority of the players doesn’t care anymore.
‘…This change should give Wild players more flexibility when building their decks…’
This. Is. Crap.
Wild is such a diverse format with TONS of decks – without Patches. Yes, the power (and rng luck) level is 10 times higher than it is in Standard, but that’s not gonna change if you nerf good cards – I even dare to say that it makes Wild a badder format than it is now. Because the more good cards you have, the more options you’re able to use.
Not that is bullshit. Wild is almost the same as standard. Aggro Paladin, Priest and Warlock.
Not the Wild meta I’m experiencing, sorry.
Pirate Warrior
Kingsbane Mill Rogue
Big Priest
Jade Druid
Evolve Shaman
Cubelock
Raza Priest
Malygos Druid
Aggro Paladin
Aluneth Mage
Quest Mage
Aggro Druid
Tempo Rogue
Reno Raza Priest
Aggr Hunter
Giants Hunter
Giants Warlock
I’m pretty sure I missed many more competitive decks that I played against on ladder in January.
And all you still se is warlock, paladin and priest. Sorry but Wild and Standard are the same mostlz.
I think I agree with the Patches nerf not being needed for Wild, but the Raza nerf was.
Wild might not be as competitive but its still important that raza got nerfed, otherwise it wouldve remained the best deck forever. Its a good change, you priviliged standard pleb, and even so it was going to rotate anyway in two months leaving you in the same situation so who cares?
Privliged standard pleb. X”’D
It wasn’t ‘the best deck’ and it wouldn’t have been, even without the nerf. Good thing everybody can have his/her own opinion …
How do you know I’m a standard player? And I wonder how you came to the conclusion that I’m ‘privileged’ in any way?
Btw I believe that Wild is far more competitive than Standard. Not in an eSports sense, but the meta is so diverse it’s far more difficult to adjust properly when grinding the ladder.
Corridor Creeper:
0-2 mana for a 2/5 = OK, more mana = bad.
Suggestion: Increase the cost to 10 or only reduce on your minions death..
Bonemare:
Arena card. F2P Card.
Patches:
1/1 if you draw it…
Extra draw on pirate decks… bad.
Rogue maybe? No.
Raza:
Best nerf. No hero power should cost 0… it’s really bad.
No hero power should cost 0 AND be able to cycle over and over and over and over and….
So only Bonemare and Creeper affect Standard…and Bonemare is still playable. I’m surprised they didn’t nerf a card like Skull of Manari or something. Cube Warlock might go out of control after rotation.
And then Blizz will kill this deck with nerfs. :/
Not really. You see, Blizzard won’t anounce any other nerfs for a good while after these ones. That’s how nerfs work, you collect all the neccesary changes and anounce them together. The last nerfs were on Warrior’s Fiery War Axe, for example.
There won’t be any nerfs on Cube Warlock, the only way to restrict his power level is either to send Doomguard to the Hall of Fame or introduce new cards with the next expansion that puts him out of competition.
I am talking about nerfs after next expansion if Warlock still will be broken. Then they will have to nerf it and sadly they will kill the deck like they always do.
x’D After the next expansion? Who knows what will happen then? Warlock could be crap for all we know.
Excellent changes
sweet 4000 dust at least
Wish patches was nerfed months ago
I would have loved a
“Costs (1) less whenever a friendly (OR enemy) minion dies while this is in your hand” Corridor Creeper.
I guess Corridor Creeper won’t see play anymore. Bonemare turn 8 should still be strong…
… Patches (pretty useless w/o Charge I guess) and Raza (could still be ok-ish) will be out with the new rotation anyways.
Patches IS worthless without Charge, no doubt about it. Thinning a deck by one card is not valuable enough on its own.
I have a gold Raza the Chained. Does that mean I will get a 3,200 dust disenchant?
Yes
yep
Good changes, lots of dust in my future.
