We’ve already covered Battlegrounds patch notes (Dragons, new minions, new Heroes etc.) in another post, and here is the rest of news.
Twitch Drops To Celebrate Dragons in Battlegrounds
Yep, Twitch drops are coming back, but this time not because of a tournament. To celebrate Dragons coming to Battlegrounds, Blizzard decided to drop some packs.
From February 26 (today!) at 11 AM PT until February 29 at 5 PM PT (Saturday), get Descent of Dragons packs for watching any Hearthstone stream. If you watch for 3 hours in total, you get a single pack. Watch for 3 more hours (6 in total) for another pack.
Keep in mind that you first need to link your Battle.net account in Twitch settings (if you haven’t done that already).
Hearthstone is Turning Six!
Hearthstone is turning 6 years very soon. Happy birthday!
Log in between March 4 and March 17 to receive 2x Rise of Shadows pack, 2x Saviors of Uldum pack, 2x Descent of Dragons pack as well as a Year of the Dragon Cardย Backย (sorry, we’ve previously said card PACK, but it’s card BACK :p).
We will also get a commemorative Tavern Brawl and a Legendary quest line (although we don’t know what rewards will the quests have).
Mage Pack Bundle
After a recent new addition in form of a Year of the Dragon pack (containing only cards from the three latest expansion), we’ve got another interesting thing. A class pack!
Blizzard is selling five Mage packs for $9.99. While it is more expensive than regular packs, it will contain only Mage cards from Year of the Dragon Standard expansions. The whole deal might be worth it for dedicated Mage players who are missing some cards, although the price seems a bit too high.
(Update:ย The original patch notes mentioned YEAR OF THE DRAGON expansions, but it was quickly edited to mention all Standard expansions. It reduces the value of this bundle quite considerably for Standard players, since Year of the Raven sets rotate out in roughly 1.5 months. And it isn’t really worth it for Wild players, since it can’t give you cards from the older expansions. So at this point I’m really not sure who would want to buy it.)
Khadgar Back in the Shop
Yep, that’s right. Khadgar Mage Hero. He was previously available a few times, but always limited in some way (e.g. to iOS users or Chinese players).
This time is no different. Although everyone can get him (for the regular price of $9.99), he will only be available Until March 4. If you want to get him, do it quickly!
Arena Rotation
It’s finally time for the Arena rotation! It came pretty late (everyone expected it ~2 weeks ago), but Arena players will finally experience a change of pace. Here are the sets available in new rotation:
- Basic
- Classic
- Goblins vs. Gnomes
- The Witchwood
- Saviors of Uldum
- Descent of Dragons
- Galakrond’s Awakening
Arena don’y kick me out, i still play with my old deck after the rotaion, no free ticket :/
That’s interesting. I didn’t have a run open myself, but maybe they’ve changed their approach. Maybe too many people were “abusing” and didn’t finish their runs just to get free tickets? :p Although I don’t see a free Arena ticket every ~2 months as a big issue anyway.
Maybe I’m dumb but ‘… any Hearthstone stream …’ confuses me. So I can watch Kripparian play BG and get the packs? Or is this any ‘official’ Hearthstone stream?
Nevermind … Kripp literally has it in the Headline of his stream. ๐
Well, technically it’s not ANY Hearthstone stream. The streamer has to activate drops option first. But I guess that pretty much every streamer did it, because there’s no reason not to ๐
So yeah, you can most likely watch any of your favorite streamers and get packs.
The total time from different streamer counts for the general sum? (example watching This, dekkster and so on)
Mage packs are bit expensive just for 5 packs, could end up with only 5 rare cards and probably already have them all.
Yeah, I agree. I don’t really know why they didn’t sell 10 of them in the bundle for the same price.
In some of the previous bundles you could get packs for under $1+ a random Legendary for free. I know that it has cards from specific cards, increasing its value for players who are mostly using that class, but still.
Maybe they’re just testing waters and will do more Class pack sales at a better price in the future :p
They are testing the waters to see if people are dumb enough to spend money on shitty deals like this, which they will be
I mean, I’m pretty sure that SOME people will get it even if it’s the worst deal ever. But I can’t imagine that the sales for this bundle will be high. $2 per pack is a lot. Even if I was playing mostly Mage, I would still rather get let’s say DoD packs at a better price.
So we are talking about 5 x pack of DOD mage cards? Only DOD?
EDIT: Okay, a mistake. It contains cards from any STANDARD set. In the patch notes they sent me earlier AND the ones they posted right away it said Year of the Dragon… Then it was edited later. Sorry about the confusion ๐
Considering this is a new pack, will it contain a legendary??
Honestly not sure? The guaranteed Legendary comes after 10 packs opened, and here are only 5.
Maybe it still has the 10 pack pity timer, which would heavily increase your chance to open it in the 5 too, but I don’t think it was confirmed. People will probably test it soon ๐
Still using the old Twitch Stream for Drops. That’s weird.
What’s weird about that?
They only had a deal to move esports to YouTube, they can still do Twitch drops :p
