I’ll keep this post brief because it’s so hot that I can barely move (and sadly I don’t have AC). Plus this week was very slow when it comes to decks, it’s the end of the season late in the expansion cycle which means that I don’t have many decks to share anyway. Next week should be better given that a new season starts tomorrow.
Perils in Paradise reveal season is going strong, we’re bang on in the middle of it (77 out of 145 cards revealed). And some of the mechanics look interesting. I personally dig the “Tourist” keyword as it will allow some really interesting deck building, I hope that will increase the deck diversity next expansion (since each class will have access to 9 extra cards).
As for the Standard meta, well, last week I talked about a Druid deck that started to make a breakthrough. Back then it had around 10% play rate in Legend and only started getting popular in Diamond. Right now it sits at 20% in both Legend and high Diamond and it’s still rising (my personal stats from Top 500 Legend put it around 35% but obviously my sample size is not incredibly high). It’s by far the most popular deck in the game (if we ignore Bronze-Silver where Plague DK still tops that chart) and I’m sad to inform you that people have not found any real counters yet. Pain Warlock seems to be your best option but even that matchup is only 55/45 in Warlock’s favor. Shopper DH is also around 50/50, but that’s pretty much it, other matchups are all in favor of Druid, making it probably the best deck in Standard right now. And with no balance updates in sight, it might stay this way until the expansion launches on July 23. Enjoy!
But seriously, I really hope that Blizzard will throw an unexpected balance patch before the expansion launches. Getting Doomkin‘d gets old very quickly.
