Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – Sunken City (+Throne of Tides) Week 13 – July 2022

Last week, we had a massive meta shake-up in a form of a Prince Renathal‘s release. This single card changed the game’s landscape a lot – while not every deck wants to play it (obviously) and many players who do run it really shouldn’t (for the sake of their win rate, not fun, that is), it looks like it has a legitimate place in many builds. Players have mostly figured out which builds benefit from it and which don’t, and the general consensus is that slower, 40 health matchups are overall… quite fun to play. Of course, of course, you can never make every player happy at the same time, because different people enjoy different playstyles, but I’ve mostly seen very positive feedback from it.

If you want to know what the current Standard meta looks like (more or less), I’ve just updated our Standard Tier List. Out of 22 builds included, 7 are Renathal decks, but they are frankly more popular on average, so on the ladder, you see something closer to a 45/55 spread between 40/30 card decks (depending on the rank – it’s lower in high Legend, but higher around Diamond, where the card seems to be most popular).

Other than that, we’re entering a “proper” reveal season starting tomorrow. So far, 2 weeks after expansion’s reveal, only 27 cards were showcased. But things will pick up the pace we should get to know the other 108 over the next 10 days or so. Stay tuned for that!
