Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – Showdown in the Badlands + Delve into Deepholm (Week 17) – March 2024

Whizbang’s Workshop reveal season is over – we know all 145 cards from the upcoming expansion. You can check them out here. There’s a ton of cool design and throwbacks to old expansions to commemorate the game’s 10th birthday. While I’m not a huge fan of the toy theme, I’m looking forward to the expansion and rotation in general.

We’re still technically over a week away until the expansion’s launch, but the meta will most likely change drastically even before that. Patch 29.0 is bound to launch soon. Normally I would say on Tuesday, but Monday is the game’s 10th anniversary so that’s probably when they will drop the patch. But either way, Patch 29.0 is when “nerf reverts” are going to happen – many cards from Year of the Hydra (2022) that were nerfed over the course of their time in Standard will get unnerfed before sending them to Wild. Because of that, we’ll have a short time period with unnerfed versions of those cards playable in Standard too. Given that it’s only for a week, the meta shouldn’t have enough time to settle, so it should be pretty hectic and unpredictable.

And after that, on March 19, Whizbang’s Workshop officially launches together with Standard rotation, Core Set changes and so on. Like always, I’ll be sharing all of the decks pros/streamers play at launch with you, so stay tuned.

As for the current meta – I won’t discuss it in detail because there’s really no point since it changes tomorrow or the day after. But the last week has seen a massive uptick in Nature OTK Shamans, which I found pretty interesting. Ever since the nerfs, the deck was always niche, but it has seen a massive popularity surge in high Legend (slowly trickling down to Diamond too). Maybe if we had a couple more weeks with this meta it would become even more popular, but alas, there’s probably not time for that. Unless they revert some of the nerfs (like Bioluminescence) but that might be too much even for Wild. Other than Nature Shaman, however, it’s mostly been business as usual.

This is probably the last deck roundup I have for Showdown in the Badlands. Next week not only the meta is going to be pretty hectic, but it might simply not be worth documenting given that the new expansion will launch 2 days after. I’ll still post some post-reverts decks so stay tuned for those.

Below is a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.
