This week’s compilation will be really short because a balance update dropped this Thursday, so there wasn’t much time for a new meta to develop yet. The nerfs targeted Priest and Druid – both classes have dropped a bit in terms of win rate, and heavily in terms of win rate. Priests easily made 20% of the high Legend ladder and now they’re maybe half of that. On lower ranks the difference is even more pronounced – Priest makes up for ~5% of the overall ladder now. I’m sure that many of you are happy with that outcome.
So far it’s too early to judge what it means for the meta – other decks that were good are still good and people simply switched to them. The meta is especially interesting in Legend, since no single archetype has over 10% play rate there (and that’s pretty rare). Diamond ranks are mostly dominated by Elemental Shaman, Face Hunter and Deathrattle Demon Hunter, while lower ranks switch DH for Spell Mage (I honestly didn’t realize that the deck is still so popular, but it has over 10% play rate at lower ranks).
It’s hard to predict long-term effects of the patch, but to be honest, predicting them is not even necessary. In just a bit over two weeks, a new expansion will release and change the meta completely. Card reveal season starts in just two days (on Tuesday, July 20) and I’ll be focusing on that instead of adding new decks. I’ll still try to throw in something here and there, but you probably shouldn’t expect too many. Then, after reveal season, we’ll be posting some theorycrafts for the new set.
Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.
