Like I’ve said last week, this time we’ve got many more decks to share – the start of a new season is always more lively as high Legend players share the builds they’ve used to climb with and so on. They also didn’t have to hold their high Legend spots to qualify for Masters Tour, so yeah.
Still, the meta has been pretty stale lately. With no bigger changes since Darkmoon Races (not counting Allura nerf, which didn’t impact the meta other than more or less getting rid of Ramp Paladin), Rogue seems to be dominating now. Whether you pick a faster, all-in Aggro Rogue or slower, “infinite value” Whirlkick Combo Rogue, you will have a great time on the ladder. Those two decks make up for up to ~1/3 of the meta, depending on your rank. Yes, it doesn’t really show on the list below, BUT it’s mostly because pro players often don’t want to share the same deck again and again and again, so even if they hit #1 Legend with let’s say Whilrkick Rogue again, they just won’t post about it.
We’ve learned that a small balance update that was supposed to launch few days ago has been delayed to 20.0 (expansion patch) – meaning that the meta should remain this way until the new set. It’s not really fun, but the most popular decks aren’t broken beyond reason, so I can kind of understand why they’ve decided to delay it and focus on delivering 20.0 in a working state. 20.0 will be the biggest patch in Hearthstone’s history, after all.
We already know a full Core Set 2021 (you can find it here), but it’s only a part of the equation. We haven’t seen any new Forged in the Barrens cards since the announcement, but that should change relatively soon. I expect the reveal season to start next week, or the week after at the very latest. Another thing we haven’t seen yet are nerfs reverts for Wild cards. As promised a while ago, many cards that currently rotate out to Wild will have their nerfs reverted, which won’t have any impact on Standard, but between that and all the Core Set changes, it might have a major impact on Hearthstone’s eternal format.
All in all, this week has been pretty dry when it comes to news, but the upcoming ones should be way more exciting.
