Galakrond’s Awakening is fully out for 5 days now – all of the cards are available, and the meta should settle itself shortly. It’s been a crazy ride between Descent of Dragons release and now, with a meta changing basically on a weekly basis. Unless another balance update comes out soon (and it might, we never know), we shouldn’t see any major meta changes.
Last week was mostly a buff to Aggro decks with Frenzied Felwing, as well as all kinds of Midrange decks with Escaped Manasaber (although I’m still not sure how good it is exactly – it seems that players have quickly put it into different builds right away, but it doesn’t necessarily fit all of them). Highlander Mage got boosted with The Amazing Reno, but the current meta still doesn’t favor the deck. And finally – Mech Paladin got significantly stronger thanks to Shotbot, but I feel like the deck is still heavily underplayed for how strong it is (it’s a high Tier 2 deck at the very least, or maybe even Tier 1). Some players have also experimented with Grand Lackey Erkh in Zoo Warlock (alongside Dark Pharaoh Tekahn), but results were mixed so far. Other cards didn’t see much play yet.
However, Galakrond’s Awakening as a whole made a significant impact on the meta, basically just as much as you would expect from an adventure. It was a cool mid-expansion content and a very interesting shake-up. My only concern is the cost, but Blizzard has already said that they won’t be doing it every expansion.
