The 35th Season of ladder has come to a close, and to make things extra interesting the nerf to Small-Time Buccaneer and Spirit Claws was launched right in the middle of the day. I believe, for the most part, that the EU Season was complete before the nerfs hit, but for players in the NA region… They had to play in a pretty volatile meta. I’ve tried to only include post-nerf decks, so they are more relevant to the people who might want to try them out!

Can anyone explain why the rogue plays jungle panther a different beast such as huge toad or stranglehorn tiger?
The curator?
“Stealth = Cold Blood target” I guess.
It’s an aggressive deck all about going face, you wouldn’t really expect minions to do much more than whack your opponent in the face once – Huge Toad will likely die as soon as it’s summoned so that’s only 1 face damage max and Stranglethorn Tiger is too expensive; 2 extra mana for 1 extra damage.
Because of stealth, Jungle Panther is almost guaranteed to be 4 damage to your opponent for 3 mana (or 8 for 4 mana with Cold Blood) – or it can remove something like Misha if you’re ready for the Leroy killing move.
All 3 get the beast draw synergy from the Curator though which is why a beast over say something like Wolfrider.
Rogue wants to play Beast, because of The Curator.
Then the deck wants to play a Beast that’s in Stealth, because it’s much more likely that it will survive to next turn, so you can get a trade you want or it’s a good Cold Blood target.
And when it comes to Beasts with Stealth, you have two options – Panther or Stranglethorn Tiger. Tiger is great, but when it comes to damage compared to mana cost, Panther clearly wins. It’s 4 damage for 3 mana, compared to 5 damage for 5 mana. Of course, it has its flaws, like playing into the AoE, but it’s better than Tiger in such a deck list.
I’m personally playing both, so if I draw one I could still pull the other from The Curator.
Both toad and straglethorn are beasts yet I suppose it’s about curving out better,plus the fact that it’s a 4-2,aggressive stats in addition with stealth makes a rather good choice if you’re playing a deck that tries to push some face damage or ensure a viable cold blood target.
